Scripture reading: 1 Corinthians 11:23-25 30:36
23For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night He was betrayed, took bread, 24and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

It's a family affair.

42:54 You may have your seats all over the building. Happy Sunday. What's up? 1.15. it's good to see y'all and whether you've been here or just got here this is my favorite place and y'all are my favorite people on the planet and um i want to mention really fast before i jump into the word today that last week i wrapped shooting my first movie Thank you. it's work it's work it's very hard work thank y'all so much for your kindness and and and it's a christmas movie it's called chocolate santa and and i was i was in atlanta last week and and i said that I was at EBC with my best friend, Pastor Craig Oliver, and I heard people, the whole church started yelling, and I saw some ladies say, whoo, I said, it's not that kind of movie.

44:15 Chocolate Santa, he's 75. Alright k I'm trying to, I'm making family friendly content. But I want to say two things about it really fast. And it's not just my movie because I'm at the core. I'm at the, you cut me, you cut me and I'm going to bleed fellowship.

44:47 Yeah. So it's not just my movie, it's our movie. Right? So when you're talking about it, you can say, we got a movie coming out. Yeah. But I think y'all going to be proud. I think y'all going to be proud. Like it's like during the crying scenes, the whole set was crying. During the funny scenes, the whole set was busting out laughing. So I think y'all going to be proud. But here's the big idea. The big idea, y'all, is the kingdom has got to be in the culture. right god never intended for us to stay within the four walls or to keep god's ideas or good news or ideas that in scripture in the four walls and so the kingdom has got to be in the culture and how do you how do you make sure the kingdom is in the culture there are multiplicity of ways but if you're going to speak to people in broad wide audiences music film tv i'll say it this way Many years ago when we were doing music, when I was leading music, Chasey, I would write music.

45:58 Jay-Z never invited me to preach. But I got a phone call that he listened to a song called My God is Awesome all the time. So we got invited to do his festival in Philly, Made in America. And was the only gospel and inspiration or anything that was invited to that festival. and we were able to bring the good news, right, and do what we do at that festival. And so some people might never come to church, but they'll listen to a song, right? Or they might not ever come to your Bible class, but they'll watch a movie. And so it's important to be thoughtful about how to strategically impact and touch and uplift and package things in many different ways in many different forms you know people will misconstrue it and be like um uh he he done go on hollywood no i'm with the kingdom i'm taking god's stuff and putting it in packages to put it in culture on behalf of god and then on set praying for people and counseling people and talking people through stuff and so billy Graham did movies, Harvest Bible Chapel in the suburbs, and Fellowship got a movie coming.

47:18 How about that? How about that? So this Christmas, Black Friday, maybe Thanksgiving evening, we're going to put some good stuff in the culture. Come on, grab your Bibles all over the building. And I heard y'all got out 4 o'clock last Sunday. I'm going to get y'all out before that. God was moving in the building I'm going to be asleep by then shout out to the greatest music ministry on the planet amazing amazing amazing hey listen they can't nobody touch our band i'm just saying it's what it is it's what it is it's what it is we got the coldest band come on second corinthians chapter number 11 for our time together second corinthians chapter number 11 and I'm going to cherry pick jump around and we're going to start at verse number 23 I'm so proud of the music our new album I'm so proud I'm working on a new choir album, but it's like, it's church and hip hop, but it's a choir album.

48:44 And so I'm going to do an HBCU tour with all of the black colleges across the country, but I'm working on it real time right now. And then I'm going to come back and do a 1980s album. Yeah. Yeah, I'm gonna do an 80s album, an old school. verse number 23 if you got it shout i got it if you're not there yet shout hold up hurry up i'm just playing i'm just playing i want to reiterate really clearly if you if you just became a member last week we are family Thank you. there are no big eyes and no little u's verse number 23 are they servants of christ am i out of my mind to talk like this i am more here's the part i want you to see i have worked much harder skip down to verse number 32 for the sake of time in Damascus the governor under King Artis had the city of Damascus guarded in order to arrest me locked the whole city down looking for me but I was lowered in a basket from a window in the wall and slipped through his hands for our time we had to share together everybody I want to talk from this subject God is not through with me yet Thank you.

50:23 god is not through with me yet those of you that are worshiping with us online drop it in the chat god is not through with me yet for my note takers however you take notes you got to re-preach this this week on Facebook, TikTok. And so take good notes. People are always thinking about, talking about, or worrying about somebody else instead of worrying about their own self.

51:07 Oftentimes people are so focused on your business that they can't take care their own business unfortunately there are many times that people spend their time focus on the something you are doing missing the fact that they ain't doing nothing at all and and as a result because they're so focused on you and your business they don't know you personally they know of you from a distance and subsequently they are misinformed about you and thusly they misjudge you they misperceive you they misframe you and then they spread a false narrative about you that's not true at all leading people to believe you are somebody you are actually not because they're not close enough they don't really know what's in your head they don't know your heart and they don't know what's come from your hands and so they completely frame you as somebody you've never been and the worst part about it is people believe the hype that's what's happening in this passage what's happening in this passage is there are a group of people who are focused on what the apostle Paul is doing from a distance they've created all of these wrong ideas about him they've spread this false narrative about him And as he is an apostle, that word apostle means sent one.

52:56 He is sent by God to serve the people of God. And this group of people, they are spending their time trying to discredit him and trying to destroy his name and his reputation and render him dysfunctional. And they are speaking of him in a way that is completely untrue. And so when you read this, this entire story in chapter number 11, the apostle Paul, interestingly enough, does not respond to his haters. But he continues to focus on his focus while there are outsiders trying to derail or detour him or distract him or to get him off base. He's focused on working for God. And so he writes this letter to the church at Corinth.

53:52 So when you hear Corinthians or when you hear Ephesians, that is a letter that Paul is writing to a local church to share with them the heart of God as you face real life circumstances and situations. so he's saying to the church at Corinth for my note takers he says they're saying all of this stuff about me and they're doing all of this talking but I'm gonna keep working I'm and I want you to have my same mindset and my same mentality don't you while you're speeding down the street pull over and entertain somebody who's trying to get you a flat tire but you keep rolling and you keep riding while they're on the side of the road talking about you can I talk to some real people in the building he he he says he says he says um as they are challenging the authenticity of his faith they are challenging the credibility of his commitment to God they they are challenging the authenticity of his service to God he he he's saying to them in a very practical sense that my faith is real and my faith is authentic and I want to show you how my faith is authentic and it's real while they relegate the power of the gospel to having material things or secular accomplishments he says I want to show you authentic faith and he says number one if you're going to have authentic faith you got to have purposeful faith translation he speaks to them and says my faith is not just a faith that talks a good game my faith is not just a faith that swings through to 115 and then after we check out of the 115 my faith is put up on the shelf until 115 the next week but he says to them in so many words verse number 23 is right there he says those that are talking about me I work harder than them translation I got a faith that works my faith ain't just a faith that talks. My faith is a faith that does. I'm not one of those people that have

56:00 accepted Jesus Christ and I'm on the squad, but I ain't add nothing. I'm on the team and I don't do nothing but beg and have my hand out looking for somebody to give me something, but I'm a giver on the team. I'm a builder on the team. I'm an asset and not a liability. If I'm on the squad, I come to big up the whole team and take the mission to the next level. Can I talk to some real people in the building? He says to them, I work harder. I've got purposeful faith. And when he says to them, he says, if you read up the verse 16 and come down, he says, I talk like a crazy man. Transition. He says, I'm being facetious. He says, the ordinary person would talk about their accomplishments if they were going to boast or brag. But he says in so many words, I'm not talking about my accomplishments. I want to show you my scars to show you that I've been through something as I've been on the battlefield working for my Lord.

57:02 You want to know if my faith is authentic? Let me show you the pain that I've endured. Let me show you the scars that I got for my commitment to serving God. Can I remind somebody when you commit to love God, serve God and worship God, life is not a beach. It's a battlefield. And the enemy is going to do all he can to try to stop you and block you from doing everything good. Every level brings another devil. But whenever you're trying to do anything good, Paul says every time I desire to do good. Evil is always present. Who did I come to preach to today? Because I wanted to preach something else. And God said, no, this one, this one. I came to remind somebody. Paul says, you got to have purposeful faith. A faith that works.

57:56 A faith that makes things happen. A faith that actually gets things done. And he says, while everybody else is talking, Corinth, he says, I have been working to serve our God. Can I roll through Paul's resume for a second? Paul has got purposeful faith when he got knocked down on the road to Damascus in Acts chapter number 9. When he gets up, he enrolls himself into the word of God, studying in Arabia and Damascus before beginning his public ministry. Translation, after he got saved, he signed up for Fellowship Bible Academy and said, let me learn about this thing. I just got in. Let me get myself together. Let me learn how to pray. Let me learn how this word works. Let me learn how to make this thing happen Monday through Monday. Can I talk to somebody?

58:50 He says, I want to be a vessel for God, doing great things for God. Before we get to 2 Corinthians 7, chapter number 11, the scripture says he has a first, second, and third missionary journey. after he studies to show himself approved unto God because a workman needeth not being ashamed knowing how to rightly divide the word of truth. He says, I got a sword. I need to learn how to use my sword. I need to learn how to work that thing. Can I talk to somebody? And so the scripture says he's traveling all over the world. He goes and he plants a church in Antioch, plants a church in Lystrom, plants a church in Pisidium, plants a church in Derb, plants a church in Iconium. He travels and sits down with the Jerusalem council in Acts chapter number 15 to help establish among the Gentiles that you can be saved by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ.

59:50 Our salvation is not a salvation you worked for. Our salvation is a salvation you get when you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is raised from the dead. We don't work to get saved. We work because we are saved. He goes and he plants churches across the Roman Empire. He goes to Asia and plants churches in Asia Minor. He goes and he plants churches in Greece. He's in Athens standing up in front of philosophers defending the gospel of Jesus Christ. Then guided by the Holy Spirit, he picks up a pen and he writes Galatians. He writes 1 Thessalonians. He writes 2 Thessalonians. He writes 1 Corinthians. Then he's writing 2 Corinthians when we get to this passage. I'm just trying to show you he had purposeful faith. He's in his purpose even though they're trying to get him off his purpose.

1:00:45 He's been training pastors. He's been training ministry leaders. He goes from a zero to a hero in the kingdom. He's trained Timothy, trained Titus, trained Priscilla, trained Aquila, train Luke he goes on to perform miracles he's walking through the community praying for people he's casting out devils he's healing the sick he's going to the hospitals he's feeding the hungry he has a purposeful faith can I talk to somebody and say to you faith is my ability to put my confidence my trust and my belief in God but I want to trust God to do something and know that God has got a calling on my life. He's calling me to be somewhere so I can do something. Can I tell somebody he's got a calling on your life too? Just like he called David to be the king.

1:01:39 Just like he called the 12 to be the disciples. Just like he called Joshua to follow Moses. Just like he called Gideon. Gideon said ain't nobody done nothing in my family. I'm the least of my family. God said is you I won't. The one who thinks you not good enough. Jeremiah said God I can't you can't use me I'm too young God said before you were born in your mama's womb I knew you and I ordained you who said you had to wait until you became a senior citizen to be a force in the kingdom of God on behalf of God I got an anointing on you right now you got gifts in you right now you got abilities in you right now and Paul says number one I got a purposeful faith. I'm going to do while they talking. I'm going to move while they stationary. And while I'm on their minds and in their mouths, I'm going to keep giving them something to talk about. Let's give them something to talk about. Who did I come to talk to today to say that no weapon formed against you shall be able to prosper.

1:02:40 Let the talkers talk, but let the doers do. Number two, Paul says I want to show you my faith is authentic because I have persevering faith. I've got persevering faith. Look at verse number 23. After he says, I've worked harder than them, then he goes on to say, I've been in prison more frequently. I've been flogged. I've been beat down more severely. I've been exposed to death over and over again. We had my obituary queued up because they thought that they were going to kill me. five times verse 24 I received from the Jews 40 lashes minus one three times I was beaten with rods he says I was pelted they threw stones at me three times I was shipwrecked I was pulled over on the side of the beach then it says I spent the night in the middle of the sea no boat he goes from his boat being stalled on the side to being in the middle of the water surrounded by sharks then he goes on to say I was constantly on the move I kept going I kept going I kept going despite what I've been through I kept going despite what was done to me I kept going he says I had danger in the river danger from bandits danger from my fellow Jews my own people came against me danger from the Gentiles people didn't even know me was coming from me I was in danger in the city, danger in the country, danger at sea, danger from false believers. I labored and toiled and have gone without sleep. I couldn't sleep. I can't sleep, baby. I've been up all night.

1:04:29 I was hungry and I was thirsty and I didn't have no food. Translation, I was broke, busted, and disgusted. My money was funny. My change was strange. Verse 28, besides everything else, I faced pressure from many churches all around. Translation, with everything I was going through, I still went to work. I still handled my business. I still did everything I needed to do. Even though the devil was throwing everything at me, he could throw at me. Verse number 29, bless me. Who is weak? And I do not feel weak. Translation, after everything I listed that I went through, I'm still strong. I'm still focused. I still stayed on my game. I still handled my business. Who did I come to talk to today? You don't look like what you've been through. You don't look like what you've come through. And the enemy's been throwing all kind of stuff at you, but you got persevering faith. You took a licking and you kept on ticking. Who did I come to talk to today?

1:05:38 You got some tough stuff being thrown at you right now. But look at you. You pulled up on the 115 and you came to worship him in spirit and in truth. Who did I come to talk to? You got all kind of trouble on your job, but you still pull up because God gives you the power to handle your business. You got persevering faith. You show up anyway. You pull up anyway like Jason from Friday the 13th. Every time you think he dead, he come. High five somebody on your row and tell them I got persevering faith. I got faith that keeps coming. I got faith that ain't going nowhere. I got faith that says I can take it. I got faith that says I can handle it. I got faith that says if it doesn't go my way, I'm going to keep trusting him anyway.

1:06:34 I'm like the three Hebrew boys. the God that I serve is able to deliver me out of the burning fiery furnace. But if not, I still love him. I'm still going to serve him. I'm still going to work for him. I got persevering faith. Faith that won't quit. Faith that won't give up. Faith that won't walk away. Faith that won't fall apart. Faith that won't break down. Faith that won't throw in the towel. but even when you thought I was done I'm still here and I'm going to keep trying
