Scripture reading: Luke 11:2-13
2So Jesus told them, “When you pray, say: ‘Father, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. 3Give us each day our daily bread. 4And forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.’” 5Then Jesus said to them, “Suppose one of you goes to his friend at midnight and says, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, 6because a friend of mine has come to me on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him.’ 7And suppose the one inside answers, ‘Do not bother me. My door is already shut, and my children and I are in bed. I cannot get up to give you anything.’ 8I tell you, even though he will not get up to provide for him because of his friendship, yet because of the man’s persistence, he will get up and give him as much as he needs. 9So I tell you: Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. 10For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. 11What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

0:00 Hey, what's going on, everybody? Thank you so much for listening to this week's message from Zoe Church. We are in Los Angeles, California, doing our best alongside of you to help people find the gospel message. Thank you for everybody that subscribes to our messages, everybody that shares our messages. We are studying the book of Luke right now. So turn in your Bible or your cell phone to Luke 11 and chapter 12. We are studying the jesus road the path that changed everything and we're going to jump in In just a moment if you'd like to give today go to our website And hit the far right link, which is the give button and you can go there and select giving give online today Thank you for your generosity as you help us get the message of jesus out around the world But let's jump into this week's message called I needed to hear that today Luke chapter 11, we're studying the book of Luke.

0:59 If you're new, we've been kind of on this path. It's called the Jesus Road. And if you're new to church or new to faith, there are four Gospels in all of the Bible. Four guys, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Four guys give us the Gospels. John is like the dramatic, emotional writer. Mark is like power-packed, like a Marvel studio movie. Matthew's specific to his audience. He knows who he's trying to convince. But I really like Luke because Luke is like the investigator. He's like the journalist. He's getting down into the details. And I love the way Luke puts chapter 11 and chapter 12. I'm going to give you today two things from chapter 11 and then another two things from chapter 12. We're going to be 11 and 12 today. And jump there in your Bible.

1:51 Let's jump right in for the sake of time. Luke chapter 11, verse number 2. He said to them, Jesus, when you pray, say, Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us of our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation. Then Jesus said to them, suppose you have a friend and you go to him at midnight and you say, friend, can you lend me three loaves of bread from Trader Joe's? A friend of mine on a journey has come to me and I have no food in my cupboards to offer him. And suppose the one inside says, brother, don't bother me. The door is already locked and my children are in bed. I can't get up and give you anything. I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity, he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.

2:48 So I say to you, ask and it will be given to you. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives. The one who seeks finds. And the one who knocks the door is open. Which of your fathers who goes on the brotherhood hike, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then are evil and you know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give you the Holy Spirit to those who ask him? I'm going to give you four things to write down today. Write down number one, prayer works.

3:30 I'm just convinced of it that I believe in the power of prayer. In fact, there's an old saying that goes like this, prayer changes things, mainly me. When I pray, it's not that I always get what I want, but it's that I'm at peace and I'm at rest because God is a good God. Come on, is there anybody here today that believes in the power of prayer and you believe that prayer works? Oh, come on, everybody, clap South Bay. Clap if you believe in the power of prayer.

4:03 And he's trying to teach us. Now imagine this. When the disciples were with Jesus, they did not ask him, Jesus, teach us how to preach. Jesus, oh, Jesus, teach us how to deliver demons. Jesus, oh, you gotta teach us that, teach us how to walk on water. Jesus, you gotta teach us that wine trick. There'll be so fire. If we're at a party and they run out of wine and we could take some water, smart water, turn into wine, teach us. They didn't ask for any of that. The only thing they asked Jesus to teach them was they said, Jesus, teach us how to pray. We wanna learn how to pray like you pray. He said, when you pray, you wanna pray like this. our father who art in heaven. You know what he's teaching us? Put it on the screen. He's teaching us it's about relationship before transaction. God is relational before he's transactional. And so before you ask God for anything, thank God for everything. Be reminded that you are my father.

5:02 He said, when you pray, you ought to pray like this. Our father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. He is saying, when you pray, you got to get a revelation and you got to get an understanding of how big and mighty and awesome and good God is. So you're my father. Hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come and your will be done. Forgive me of my sins as I forgive all Clipper fans.

5:33 Give me my bread, my daily bread. What's that saying? A prayer life is a dependent life. God, if you don't supply what I need today, I won't have it. Give me my bread, my daily bread. Forgive me my sins as I forgive those that have sinned against me. Lead me not into temptation. What is temptation? McDonald's. but deliver me from the evil one. He says, let me, he uses their imagination. He said, let me ask you a question. If you, if you were stuck and you have some friends come visit you and they made a journey from Palmdale to your house, just use your imagination. And they show up and you go into your cupboards and nothing worse than trying to feed people. You have no food. He says, you go to your neighbor's house. You're like, bro, I haven't asked for anything in a long time.

6:27 I got some friends that came from Palmdale. Could you hook it up so I could feed my friends? He says, if this guy is sitting in his bed going, I worked for one hour to get my kids to go to bed. I'm not getting up for nothing. He said, out of friendship, he won't get up. But because of your shameless audacity. And I just like this because I believe in the power of persistent prayer. If you keep asking God, You keep seeking God. You keep knocking on that door. I believe what Jesus says, if you ask, you will receive. If you seek, you'll find. If you knock, the door will be open.

7:05 Some of us, God has not said no to your prayer. He said not yet to your prayer. And you got to keep on praying and keep on seeking and keep on asking because at the right time, God's going to do the right thing. Anybody thankful today for the times when God didn't answer your prayers? Come on. Let's just thank God for all the times we thought we knew what we needed, but God had a better plan. How good did Pastor Julia do last Sunday? Clap for Pastor Julia's message. My God. My God. The lady in the red shoes. My God. But, you know, Pastor Julia's up here preaching a bunch of evil about me, you know, last Sunday. The devil's a liar. She's trying to tell everybody, you know, when I was younger, I prayed and believed that I would marry a 5'2 blonde. The devil's a liar. God had a better plan.

7:58 Come on, somebody. I got me a 5'6. Woo! She can preach and prophesy. Woo! But are you glad that when you were asking God for stuff, he knew the right time to give it to you? He knew the right season that you'd be ready for it? Come on, clap if you believe it today. He's an on time. Come on, praise him. See, what Jesus is trying to teach us here, he's not trying to teach us that God is a reluctant God. No, he is contrasting a human who's a friend versus a willing good father. He's saying if this guy who doesn't even know God will get up and hook you up, how much more will a willing good God take care of you? In fact, put this on the screen. Prayer is relational before it's transactional.

8:52 Put up the next one. Persistence in prayer is not about us overpowering a reluctant God. It's about us trusting a willing and good father. It's about us trusting. Let me just remind you about your prayer life. Your prayer life is not getting God onto your agenda. It's about you getting onto God's agenda. There's so many of us. So many of us, we stop praying. and I stopped praying, you know, because God didn't answer that prayer. Thank God he didn't answer that prayer. For some of you, you're blessed because he didn't answer that prayer. God has you exactly where he wants you. And you're in the right place at the right time for the right people to do the right thing for God. Come on, clap and praise him. And so he says, if you are evil and you know how to give good gifts, you know how to do Christmas well, you know how to swipe your Amex at Target, you have a shopping cart on your Amazon account, if you know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more does your heavenly Father know how to take care of you?

10:02 And I want to tell you, it's not that we put our trust and our emphasis in prayer. We put our trust and our emphasis in God. We don't even worship prayer. We worship God. Can I remind you what prayer is? Prayer is just the vehicle that gets you from point A to point B. Prayer, you can look at it like an Uber. It just takes you from anxiety and depression and worry and doubt. And when I start praying, it reminds me when I get into the presence of God that all I have to do is ask, all I have to do is seek, all I have to do is knock, and God's going to take care of the rest. Come on, everybody, clap if you believe in the power of prayer. So he's trying to show us, he's trying to show us prayer works. keep asking keep seeking keep knocking if you are evil and you know how to give good gifts to your kids i'm telling you we serve a willing awesome father he will take care of you so much more than you as your own parents will amen he continues on and in chapter 11 he goes and he delivers someone that is demon possessed and he's mute so he's been demon possessed and he's mute and jesus comes and delivers this man of this demon. If you are new to church, we believe that there is darkness and there are other spirits, but there's no God that's as powerful as our God and no spirit stronger than the Holy Spirit.

11:35 Watch what he teaches right after this man is delivered. Verse 21. When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe. But when someone stronger attacks and overpowers him, he takes away the armor in which the man trusted and divides up his plunder. Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. Now pause there. What Jesus is trying to teach us here is that he demands unapologetic loyalty. God doesn't want part of you. He wants all of you. So read it again on the screen. Whoever is not with me is against me. And whoever does not gather with me scatters. Is there anybody here today that say, I'm with Jesus? I'm on team.

12:28 I'm team Jesus. Like I know what team I am. I'm a Seahawk. I'm a Husky, I'm a Laker, I'm a Dodger, I'm a Spark, I'm a Jesus team. Praise God. Verse 24. When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through an arid place seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, I will return to that house I left. And when it arrives, it finds the house swept and cleaned and put in order. Watch this, 26. Then it goes and takes seven other spirits, more wicked than the first, and they go in and live there. and the final condition of that person is worse than the first. Write down point number two today. A stronger man has arrived. A stronger man is on the scene.

13:22 He says, now a strong man is there, and he's got his protection, and he's got his armor, and he's got his gear. He is talking about the wicked one of your life, Satan. He is saying he uses his armor. What is the tools that Satan uses in your life? He uses shame. He uses addiction. He uses guilt. He uses temptation. He says there's a strong man there, and he's got all of his stuff, and he's got all of his protection. But when a stronger man shows up, when a stronger man comes there, he terrorizes that man, breaks down the wall, and kicks him out. Anybody thankful today that Jesus, the stronger man, kicked the devil out of your life? come on clap and thank him today the stronger man is here i want to tell you today the stronger man is on the scene the stronger man showed up and the stronger man kicked the devil out of your life he says when the stronger man shows up he devours the weak man gets all of his plunder and kicks him out he says but what happens is and write down just a sub point here. He is teaching us that deliverance without discipleship is dangerous.

14:37 he says when the stronger man shows up and Jesus comes and cleans up somebody's life and kicks out all that wickedness and all those evil spirits and all that compromise and all that clipper nation and all those cowboy hoodies he said when Jesus drives that man out and he gets this house in order he says that evil spirit when he leaves he comes back and he sees that the house hasn't been filled with the things of God. He goes and gets seven more other spirits and comes and messes with this man. And he says, and the final condition is even seven times worse than the first condition. This is why I'm so excited about connect groups. If I could be honest, connect groups kick off. Can we just thank God for all the connect groups in our church? I'm just telling you, thank God for the connect groups because Jesus is trying to show us that deliverance is important, but you need discipleship with deliverance.

15:39 I was a youth pastor for 15 years and for 15 years, I loved working with young people. And every summer we would go to summer camp. I'm telling you, by the way, shout out to Zoe Youth. We had the biggest youth night we've had in over a year this past Wednesday. Come on, thank God for our youth team. Come on, let's thank God for our U-team. It ain't nothing like summer camp when you go to a youth summer camp. We go to these summer camps, and you know, kids, I'm telling you, it looks like they're being saved, but it smells like sin.

16:14 And you know, it's nothing like a summer camp. You got activities in the day. You got the cafeteria, three meals. You got, you know, amazing, like a lake or something where they go play or the ocean or something. but they've never been to a service like a camp night meeting. Oh my gosh. Kids are at the altar. They're getting lost in the sauce. They're worshiping. Some kid's crying. You go to pray for them. You're like, why are you crying? They're like, I don't even know.

16:41 Chicken skin, chicken skin, goosebumps. I don't even know. But I watched for 15 years where kids would get rocked at camp, set free at camp, delivered at camp, and they would come back from camp on fire for God. But I noticed within three months that if they didn't fill their life with prayer, getting planted in the house of God, starting to read the word of God, starting to get into church every single week, I'm telling you those seven other spirits came back and I'm telling you the end condition was worse than the condition they were in when we went to camp. I wanna preach to somebody today. God will set you free, but you gotta do the rest to get the word of God and the things of God all up in your house. he says when the stronger man shows up when the stronger man shows up he will destroy the evil one get him out of here but i'm praying over us listen life change does not happen just on sundays life change happens in the context of community you gotta get around coffee tables you gotta get into living rooms. You got to get connected in community because that's where the discipleship happens. God will do the deliverance and we will do the discipleship. Come on, clap if you believe it today.

18:05 So Jesus, Jesus is teaching us about prayer, but he's also teaching us about the power of deliverance with discipleship. Then he goes down into chapter 12. In chapter 12, watch what it says. It says in verse 15, Then he said to them, Watch out. Be on your guard against all kinds of greed. Life does not consist in an abundance of possessions. and he told them this parable, the ground of a certain rich man yielded in an abundant harvest. And he thought to himself, what shall I do? I have no place to store my crops. Then he said, I'll know what I'll do. I will tear down my barns. I'll just build bigger barns. And there I will store my surplus grain. And I'll say to myself, you have plenty of grain laid up for many years.

18:58 Take life easy. Eat, drink, be merry. But God said to him, you fool, this very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself? This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich towards God. Write down point number three today. You and I need to be rich towards God. He is showing us what greed could do in our life. He's using an illustration. He says, this man has a big old barn, and he's already blessed. But God sends him more surplus, and God sends him more blessing. And now he's blessed beyond his wildest dreams. And he thinks to himself, what am I going to do with all this blessing? I know what I'll do. I'll build a bigger barn. And because I just want to accumulate, and I just want more possession.

19:54 See, I want to preach to somebody today. God's already blessed you beyond your wildest dreams. God's already hooked you up beyond anything you prayed for. The reality of blessing is it can't result in more blessing. The reality of blessing, it's gotta turn into gratitude and generosity. I find there's so many people that get so blessed that all they want to do is be more blessed. And my question to you today is, what are you going to do with all that blessing? Because this man goes, I don't got enough room for all this surplus. I got to go build a bigger barn. So he was rich in his bank account. He was broke towards God. and my question to you is what would you rather have would you rather be rich towards god and not have a lot because of your generosity or would you rather have a bunch and be broke towards god you've got to figure out for your life what matters in your life what matters in your world do you want to be rich towards heaven or do you want to be rich towards yourself i don't know about you but i'd rather be rich in my relationship with god and not care about the rest come on clap if you believe it today.

21:10 put it on the screen. God's blessing becomes dangerous when it leads us into self-reliance instead of gratitude and generosity. God's blessing becomes dangerous when it leads us into self-reliance. You got to be careful about money because you think money is a fortress. Money, I'm surrounded by it. I've got all this. I'm good for life. This guy thought, man, I'll tell you what, I'm going to give me a place in Cabo. I'm going to eat chips and guac for the rest of my life. I'm going to be up at Cabo Wabo. I'm going to be just at Air One membership. You already know, player. I'm going to be up in them smoothies. I'm going to be up in that hot bar. I'm going to be chilling. Find me at the roots. because what am I going to do with all this blessing? I'm going to build a bigger barn. You think my barn's big now? Next year, I'm going to get a bigger barn.

22:04 Then next year after that, I'm going to get a bigger barn. Everybody's going to drive by and be like, Daddy, look at that barn. Jesus is using this illustration to speak to all of us because God will bless you and God will take care of you. And the question is, what are you gonna do with all that blessing? It has to result in gratitude and generosity. Amen to that. The strength of your life is not found in what you sit in. the strength of your life is found in what you send out. The world of the generous gets larger and larger and the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller. I'd rather be in the grateful life. How about you? I'd rather be in the generous life.

22:56 How about you? There was an old t-shirt back in the day. Y'all remember this brand, No Fear? Anybody remember that? No Fear? No Fear. And they had this t-shirt that said, he who dies with the most toys still dies. You can't take none of that to heaven, can you? And Jesus asked this man, he says, what are you going to do with all that? What good is all that? He's trying to teach us, it doesn't matter what you have in possessions. What matters is that you're rich towards God. and you've got to make a decision for your life because I'm telling you the spirit of this world measures possessions more than relationship with God. So you'll have to look like a fool to man but you'll look like the wise person to God.

23:50 I'm not preaching to anybody today. Put it on the screen. The rich man stored up grain. The wise man stored up trust. The rich man prepared for retirement. The wise man prepared for eternity. The rich man asked, what shall I do with all of my surplus? The wise man asked, who can I bless with all of my surplus? Can I get a drink of water? I'm so sorry. Can I get a little water bottle? I can clap for my wife. She preaches one Sunday. She hands me a water bottle the next Sunday. Praise God. Dang, girl, you look good. What you doing later, girl?

24:34 Now can I give it back to you, though? Surplus? Let's go. Clap for Pastor Julia, man. Wow. Wow. I'm kidding. But you see the contrast between the wise man and the rich man? You gotta be careful with this kind of stuff because where did he start? He started with greed.

25:00 Greed says it's not enough. I need more. I gotta get more. I will build a bigger barn. Gratitude says how can you use what you've given me to be a blessing to the world? How can, you've given me so much. How can I build your kingdom and build your name? He stays in this thought in chapter 12. And in chapter 12, go down a few verses. He's in the same vein. Watch what he says next in chapter 12. These are the last verses that we'll look at today. Verse 22, then Jesus said to his disciples, therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or your body or what you will wear. For life is more than food and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens. They do not sow. They do not reap. They have no storeroom. They have no barn. Yet God feeds them. How much more valuable are you than birds? Who of you, by worrying, can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? Consider how wild the flowers grow. They do not labor. They do not spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all of his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow's thrown in the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? Watch the last verses, verse 33 and 34. Be generous. Give to the poor.

26:27 Get yourselves a bank that can't go bankrupt. A bank in heaven far from bank robbers, safe from embezzlers, a bank that you can bank on. It's obvious, isn't it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be and end up being. Write down the last point today, your heart follows your money. I love this thought. Your heart is going to follow your money. Jesus says, wherever your treasure is, your heart will follow also. He says, why are you worried about what you're going to eat? Why are you worried about what you're going to wear? Why are you worried about tomorrow? Tomorrow has enough worries in itself. No, no, no. Don't worry about that stuff. Seek God first. This is the God first life that I'm not waking up and worrying about how much money am I going to make and how much money do I have and what am I going to wear and what am I going to, no, no, no. I'm going to worry about God and I'm going to put God first. And when I do that, I give God my money. See, God is not worried if you have money. He's worried if money has you.

27:36 And the reason why I give money to God is because I know that I want my heart to be with God. It's so funny. I've seen this clip of this guy, and, you know, sports betting is so big these days, and people are betting on, you know, all kinds of baseball games right now. Come on, we got the NBA Finals, the Knicks versus the Spurs, Victor Wimbiana versus, you know, all these guys, Jalen Brunson, and the boy, and people are gonna sports bet. and if you ever watch a guy that sports bet they go nuts to try and make sure their player hits amount of rebounds or points or that their team wins i'll never forget a couple years ago i was with a guy on a sunday night and and this guy had put a bunch of money in on this football game and the whole night he was checking the score and he was pacing the place that we were at and he was frantic and he was worried and he was just freaking out over the touchdown and then the interception and then the fumble and then the touchback and they're just, he's freaking out because his heart is where his money is. And Jesus is trying to teach us something about money and heart. He is saying, if you put your money in my kingdom and you put your money with my work and you put your money in the house of God, your heart will be there. And I don't know about you, but I want my money and my heart to be in the house of God. How about you? Come on, clap if that's your prayer.

29:01 Watch this. Put this on the screen. Greed says, I need more. Worry says, I won't have enough. Faith says, my father knows what I need. Let me say that again. Greed says, I need more. Worry says, I won't have enough if I give. Faith says, my father knows everything that I need. Put this next one up. Jesus never said, where your treasure is, your tithe will be. He said, where your treasure is, your heart will be. Giving isn't a money issue first. It's a heart issue first. Giving is little to do with money. It is much to do with heart.

29:48 Hear me again. Giving is little to do with money. It has everything to do with your heart. I've preached this before, but a lot of you know that in the morning times, I know we're not supposed to, but because I like to sleep with Do Not Disturb, I don't want anybody messing with my beauty sleep. when I wake up, I roll over just to check to see what happened.

30:15 Did I hear from the East Coast? Maybe the Midwest? Lord knows anybody on the West Coast are not texting me late at night. and I was checking everything yesterday morning and checking to see you know I don't know how you look after your money but I checked my accounts just to see where Julia spent it Oh, wow. I didn't know she went there yesterday. Oh, that's online. Praise God. And I saw yesterday morning that we got paid. Anybody love payday?

30:53 Ain't no day like payday. Come on, somebody. And so I did the math on our tithe and offering on the calculator. And I went to our website, zoechurch.org, and I clicked give. And I went give today. and I gave on behalf of our family our tithe. And I want to tell you how I did it. I did it like this. in my bed. it does not matter how you give. It matters that you give. It does not matter when you give. It matters that you give. Because giving is not about money. Giving is about...

31:46 heart. And I have found the stronger man. He came in and set me free. He called my name. I did not call his. He pulled me out of a pit. he's got my heart.

32:12 Because he has my heart, he's got my money. And I find so many people that want to worship God without worshiping God. And Jesus is teaching us two examples here in Luke 12 on the difference between someone that wants to live to get versus live to give. I'm here to tell you today, you cannot out give God. When you give to God, it'll come back to you in every single way. When you give to God, the Bible says it'll come back pressed down, shaken together, running over into your lap beyond your wildest dreams. And I've seen God do many things through the generous. I've seen a lot of people lose being stingy. And I'm excited because I want my heart to be in the house of God, with the things of God, in the kingdom of God. So my prayer for you today is that you'd have the ability to not build a bigger barn.

33:11 You'd have the ability to surrender, to give God the best part of your worship and your praise. Because when you do this, he said, don't worry about tomorrow. Don't worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow? Woo! Who knows what's going to happen tomorrow? But today, God first. Seek ye first the kingdom of God. When you do this, what happens? My heart is with God. I'm living for God. Am I living to get? No, no, no. I already got salvation. I got the power of the Holy Spirit. God gave me community. God gave me a family. God gave me a wife. God gave me children. Anybody blessed today? the lie of greed is to say it's not enough it's not enough yet the lie of greed goes wait until you get more and then you're gonna give I'll tell you today if you don't start today what makes you say you're going to start tomorrow. If you don't start with what you have. Heard this guy, Jack Welch, the guy that started Sears. He said, if I never would have tithed on my first 100, I never would have tithed on my first million. How you do some things is how you do all things. You're practicing for the greater surplus. You're practicing for the greater blessing. God's looking for somebody he can trust and run his kingdom through their life. And if you'll just surrender to God and let go and let God, you'll be overwhelmed by the blessing beyond your wildest dreams, and you won't live to get, you'll live to give.

34:52 because you want to know what I found in life? Takers take and givers give. Takers keep taking, but givers keep giving. And I'm praying over the spirit of our church. I'm praying over your heart and your life that we already say, I got enough, man. I got enough. You kidding me? I was under a different regime. I was under a different tyranny. I was under a different strong man. I was ruled by every whim and notion of the world. And I, I didn't even stuff. I can't believe I did. I did. Things I can't believe I said, I said. Places I can't believe I'd gone, I went. But a stronger man showed up and set me free. And when that stronger man showed up, I started to live for him. Come on, everybody clap and thank God, I started to live for him and not for me.

35:52 The lie of this world, the lie of this world is you need more. You don't need more money. You need more God. You don't need more stuff. You need more Jesus. You don't need more trips. You need more church. You need more prayer. You need more Bible reading. You need more community. So when I show up in heaven, it won't matter my bank account. It will matter in my faith account. I live for God. Made mistakes along the way. bruised, broken. But I showed up saying I did my best to not take. I did my best to live in gratitude and generosity. May our church, Zoe Church, be a grateful place. May our church be a place of generosity. My prayer for Zoe right now is that we'd be a worshiping church, that we'd worship God.

36:50 I saw someone say recently a healthy church is where babies are crying and men are worshiping we have never had more babies at Zoe church shout out to all the pregnant ladies they're about to have more babies clap and thank the Lord But what if we were a church? What if we were a house that's filled with gratitude and generosity? I've seen the opposite. The opposite is entitlement and stinginess. Where people show up in church demanding God do more. How come he hasn't? How come it hasn't come through? How come it still is not here? How come I haven't gotten my prayer? How come I haven't got my place? How come it hasn't sold yet? How come it hasn't? Where's my husband? Where's my wife?

37:41 Where's my baby? Where's my, no, no, that's entitlement and stinginess. No, this is me. This is mine. And this is ours. I'm just believing in this season. We will erupt with gratitude and generosity. And I believe that when we do that, our heart will be with Jesus and his kingdom. will move through L.A., America, and around the world. Come on, clap and give them praise if you believe it today. Come on, stand to your feet together. Come on, let's pray. God, we thank you that today. Listen to today's message. We pray it brought you great strength, great encouragement, and build your faith. We'll see you next week here at Zoe as we continue to study the book of Luke.
