00 Let's go to this worship team one more time. Thank God. Go to 1 John chapter 4, verse number 7. I am in part 4. We released the vision. This year we are going to watch God work. And I want to stay in that thought, stay in that theme together as we watch God work in our over and above offering. and I wanna teach you today just why it is, where does this concept come from of us even thinking about an offering. First John chapter four, verse seven, it says this, this is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment. In this world, we are like Jesus. I like that scripture so much. In this world, you and I are like Jesus. In other words, the Jesus that people are going to meet in L.A. is through you.

00 You and I get to be like Jesus. And I know you might be under construction like myself. I know you might not have arrived yet like myself. But anybody excited about becoming in your life more and more like Jesus. Come on, clap today if that's your prayer. In Spanish, his name is Jesus.

24 Write down the title of today's message. It's called Just Like the King. See, you and I, we are a reflection of the king that we are under. The king that has rescued us. Put it on the screen. The culture of a kingdom always reflects the heart of the king. The culture of a kingdom is a reflection of the heart of a king. And I just want to tell you that just is how everything works in life. A team is a reflection of its coach. A church is a reflection of its leaders. A home is a reflection of its parents. By the way, what an awesome story, Hiroshi. Pretty cool to see. His foster mom has fostered 30 kids. and she just baptized five of them two weeks ago at West Adams. Come on, clap for her.

21 What a saint in the faith. and if you go here, you must have a AAA membership, or no GG. Praise God. but a home is a reflection of parents. Teens are a reflection of coach. A kingdom is a reflection of its king, and I just want to tell you, you are becoming whatever you are beholding. Whatever you worship, you become, and I want to tell you, we worship a good king. We worship a worthy king, and we have not yet arrived. we are still becoming more and more like him. That is the desire. And so you and I, the reason why you're joyful is because our king is joyful. The reason why you carry peace is because he carries peace. The reason why you're generous is because our king is generous.

18 So you are just like the king. I'm gonna give you four things to write down today. They're all about God. Write down number one today. God is, this is who he is. God himself is over and above. So this is not something God does. He doesn't just occasionally, kind of when he feels like it, do over and above stuff. No, this is his character. This is the nature of our God. God is over and above. In fact, read our scripture that we're studying this year, Ephesians 3.20. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more all that we can ask or think or imagine according to his power that is at work within us. Did you notice how it just described God? God is exceedingly. God is abundantly. God is far above. God is over and above. Oh, let me read two more verses. Psalm 97 verse 9. For you, Lord, are the most high over all the earth. You are exalted far above all gods. Jeremiah 10 verse 6. No one is like you, Lord. You are great and your name is mighty in power. So God doesn't do over and above stuff.

29 God himself is over and above. He's above all gods. He's above all rulers. He's above all authorities. He's got the whole world in his hands. Oh, come on, everybody clap if you believe it today. This is just who he is. It's not that God does over and above stuff. God is over and above. This is his character. This is his nature. And so when you get to understand I'm a child, I'm a king's kids. I'm gonna reflect the king because God goes over and above and is over and above. I go over and above. Amen to that. Put on a screen. He doesn't just meet needs. He exceeds them. Everything about God is exceedingly, abundantly, and far above. I don't serve the God that just barely meets your need. I serve the God that will supersede your need. He is not the God of enough.

25 He is the God of more than enough. In fact, put this next one on the screen. This is who God is. He is not the God of bare minimum. He is not the God of just enough to get by. He is not the God of scraps of mercy. Scarcity is the language of earth. Overflow is the language of heaven. I don't serve the God that's like, we're gonna just barely get you enough to get by, and you're just gonna, you know, just have, we're just, here's some scraps of mercy, and we just want you to just hang on by a thread. No, no, no. God doesn't have scraps of mercy. God has fresh, fresh mercy for you here today. He is exceedingly, abundantly, far above anything you could ever imagine in your mind. This is just his nature. It's who he is. He's not trying to give you just a little bare minimum. I'll never forget years ago, I was preaching at this church in Munster, Indiana. Hallelujah. And the pastor's wife got up and she went to pray for all the people. And she said, then anybody in need, come up to the front. It felt like the whole church is in the front. I said, man, I feel like I'm at Zoe. Hallelujah. And the pastor's wife says something. I'll never forget it. She says, I pray that you'd be so blessed that when you walk through the grocery aisles, you can just get anything you want and throw it in your cart. And I thought, she goes, that's how you know you're blessed. You can walk through the aisles and pick out anything you want. I was like, don't my kids wish they're blessed. Just grab anything you want. Just throw it. You know, God's not just going like, hey, hold on. We only got enough. There's not that much up here in heaven to go around for everybody.

07 No, no. God, by his nature, is over and above. He'll give you so much mercy, so much faithfulness, so much goodness, so much strength, so much wisdom, so much, oh come on everybody clap if you believe this is just who he is. He's not trying to do something, he's just operating in who he is. He is the God of over and above, so you and I get to go over and above because we reflect the character and the nature of a good God. Write down number two today, God doesn't do minimum, he does multiply. Oh, I love this about God. He's not, because minimums create mediums. God doesn't operate in mediums unless it's a medium, diet, coke, and in and out. God doesn't do mediums. That's for my wife. God doesn't do mediums. Because God is not the God that has a minimum plan for you, a minimum amount. No, no, God is exceeding. God is abundant. God is far above.

09 So if you think in mediums and minimums, you don't know who our king is because God doesn't operate. God operates in multiplication. So by the way, your life and the future that you have, God does not have plans for your mediums. He has plans for your prosperity. More than you wanting to be blessed, you serve the king that wants to bless you. Do you believe that today? So minimums, we don't serve the God of minimums. We serve the God of multiplication. Now, this is a great story. One time, these guys were out fishing, and they're on the boat, and Jesus comes to see them. Read here, John. Go here in the book of, sorry, Luke chapter five. When he had finished speaking to them, he said to Simon, Simon, he's gonna change his name to Peter. He says, Simon Peter, put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.

03 And Simon answered, well, sir, we've worked hard all night and we have not caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets. When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink. I love this story so much because Jesus goes and visits the guys out in the boats and he says to Simon, how's it going?

42 You ever had somebody ask you like how's work going and you wanna lie to him and be like, it's going great. We're killing it. But you know in your head it's like suffering. He's like, how are you guys doing? And they're like, we can't lie to him, he knows everything. been here all night, haven't caught a thing. And he goes, okay, throw your nets on the other side and you'll catch something. And I love Peter. Peter's like you and I. Peter's like, for sure. respectfully, sir, we did that all night last night, 100%, but nevertheless, at your word, we'll do it again, and it says, when they cast their nets, their nets filled with so much fish, They had to signal to the other boat, get over here.

50 And now both boats began to sink. We don't serve the God of mediums. We serve the God of multiplication. God can do more with your obedience than you can do with your work ethic. All you have, he, at the time of obedience, the miracle broke out. I'm telling you, God can multiply. I've been telling the story in Watch God Work of Jesus's first miracle. It happened at a wedding in Cana where they ran out of wine. And one of my favorite parts of the story, Jesus's first miracle, remember his mom goes to him and says, son, it's your time. And he's like, mom, it is now my time. And she says, boy, if you want food and shelter, it's your time. And watch what it says here. Now we're in the book of John chapter two. Nearby stood six stone water jars.

45 The kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding 20 to 30 gallons. Jesus said to the servants, fill the jars with water. So they filled them to the brim. Hold on. Six 30-gallon huge jars filled to the brim with water and he turned the water into wine. Did they have need at the party for six 30-gallon jars to be filled with water and wine? Don't answer that question. Some of you are like, yeah. Okay, you sicko.

24 Put it on the screen. Jesus' miracles, Jesus' miracles were never about survival. They were pictures of the abundance of the kingdom of God. God is trying to show these guys in the boat, I'll blow your mind. He's trying to show these people at the wedding, I'm not the God of medium, I'm the God of multiplication. When I bless your life, I'll do it exceedingly and abundantly, far above. Oh, come on, clap if you believe it. I'm not into little bit. I'm the God of lot of bit. I got grace. I got mercy. I got faithfulness. I've got miracles.

03 Oh, I love this. Put it on the screen. What leaves your hand doesn't leave your life. it enters into your future multiplied. When you sow a seed, I'm just telling you, it might leave your hand, but it will never leave your life. And it will enter. When you sow a seed in God's kingdom, remember in God's kingdom, you can never separate sowing and reaping. Sowing and reaping are always connected in God's kingdom. The Bible says you reap what you sow. He says, how could a farmer go expect a huge harvest if he just sows a little bit of seed? No, if you want a big old harvest, you got to throw a whole bunch of seed. So he says, listen, I'm just telling you, this is the way it works, that when you sow, it will, I'm telling you, it might leave your bank account, but it will enter into your future multiplied. This last week, we're going through our son's report cards. Now, I just got to be honest. I feel bad for these kids because these report cards these days are digital. We can at any time look at a report card.

04 I would have been cooked. Wednesday night on the couch looking at the report card. Wow. Now my son is getting an A in math. Praise God. When I heard it, I said, thank God for Julia's jeans. We are good in our house at lunch in PE. Who am I preaching to? And this kid is really good at math. Now, it's crazy, he's getting a bad grade in Spanish, and he's a quarter Mexican. I said, we're watching Encanto tonight, Coco tomorrow. What's wrong with you, mijo? And this kid, you know when you learn math, remember when you're young, you learn addition and subtraction.

05 You learn how to add and subtract. And then when you learn multiplication, you get really excited. It's two times five. Ten. you get excited because you multiply. I'm just telling you, God, when you sow a seed in his kingdom, it will show up two years later, multiply it out. You'll never waste sowing seed in God's kingdom. But I'm telling you, he won't add to you. He'll multiply what you sow in his house. So we don't serve the God of medium or minimum. We serve the God that can multiply something beyond our wildest dream. In fact, write down the next one. God turns small into significant. All through God's kingdom, he takes small things and turns them into significant things.

59 Look at Matthew chapter 13. He told them another parable. The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all the seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree so that all the birds come and perch in its branches. He told them still another parable. He said, the kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took mixed into about 60 pounds of flour until it worked through the dough. I'm just telling you, God always turns small things and turns them into significant things. God always takes small little bitty seed and turns it into a big old tree where the birds will come and find refuge. You took your small part, God will make the significant part. Only I can do what only I can do. Only God can do what only God can do. Oh, I said it last week, but let me remind you Abraham's story. God said to Abraham, Abraham, if you get out of here, if you leave Rancho Cucamonga, it's a word in season every season watch what God said, I'll bless you, I'll make your name great, and all the descendants of the earth will be blessed through you, anybody here, you'd be down to be blessed by God, would you be down for that, what if God puts some respect on your name, some weight on your name, what if God blessed all the people around you through you, anybody be okay with that, watch what God's saying, you do the moving, the small bit, I'll do the significant bit. I cannot make my life significant, but I can make my life obedient. The miracle you're looking for always happens through small acts of obedience. It's small acts of obedience. It was so cool. I was talking to a guy this morning and he was telling me all week long, I've been talking to God, God, what do you want me to give

07 and the offering. And just that, I just so appreciated that. I loved hearing that language because what he's doing, he's gonna do his small part. It's God's business and God's job to bring the significant part. Put this on the screen. I love this. Little becomes much. Small becomes strong. Obedience becomes overflow. That's how God works. It's like, man, I just, all I did, how'd you get to be so blessed? I left Rancho. that's it yeah where'd you move the west side what an upgrade I do the small part God does the significant part I'll never forget we were in El Paso Texas I was preaching at a conference and I heard the Lord say it's time to leave Seattle it's time to moved to LA to go start a church. I went home to Julia. I said, I feel like God is calling us.

11 It's time to go. She said, it's been time to go. I said, yes, ma'am. We talked to our pastors. We talked to our parents. Everybody had peace. We did the small part. God does the rest. Only I can do what only I can do, and only God can do what only God can do. He said, this seed is so small. It is the size of a mustard seed. It's the smallest of all the seeds. But when you plant it, it will turn into a tree. I'm telling you, if you'll give God something to work with, he'll turn your life into something you never dreamt of, you never imagined, you never prayed for, you never asked. Because if God gets involved, it's game over. Come on, somebody clap and give him a praise. If you're grateful for the power, clap a little bit louder if you believe. God will bring the significance. I just bring my small. That's why never look at your seed. Never glorify your seed. Never look. No, no. I'm not looking at my seed. I'm looking at my king. I'm looking at my kingdom. I'm looking at my future. I'm looking at my calling. And I'm saying, Lord, all my life, my time, my talent, my treasure, all of it belongs to you. I can't in my own strength build something significant, but you, not by power, not by might, but by my spirit, says the Lord.

35 Oh, I love that. Put it on the screen. Last one. God graces us with more than enough so that we can give more than expected. God always graces you with more than enough so that you can always give more than what is expected. I love the story of the Good Samaritan. Good Samaritan is the third man in the story. First guy walks by, says, uh-uh, not my problem. Second guy walks by, uh-uh, not my problem. Third guy, Good Samaritan, says, okay, I got you. Puts him up in a hotel, pays for his medical bills, says, hey, if he orders any cheeseburgers, french fries, if he orders any movies, take care of him. It's on my bill. Takes care of him. Was it expected of him? No. But he was so blessed, he realized, I got all this to be a blessing. God always gives you more than you need and more than you ask for so you can give more than what's expected. This is how the kingdom of God works. He blesses you beyond your wildest dreams so you got something. Listen, if you got something good in your hand, it means you got something you can bless others with.

37 that's so cool I was talking to one of my friends at pastors in Pasadena this week and I was asking him you know update on the fire and he said you know it's crazy he said annually our church operates on a 1.2 million dollar annual budget and this year we've given away 1.8 million dollars I said how many families lost their homes in your church. He said 90 families lost their homes in our church. He said, but my favorite part was this year we gave away 46 brand new cars to people in need in our community.

23 God always graces you with more than you ever asked for. He always blesses you with more than you ever thought of? Why? So you can go out and give more than what's expected. You ever go do a job, supply a service, and you get the check, you open that check, and that check is good? You're like, okay. All right.

58 Praise God. There's nothing like getting an envelope with a good check. I pray this year it's from the IRS for you. surprise you with a little blessing. Getting a good check, that'll change your day. Amen. Somebody say amen. Open it up. You're like, ooh. Ha ha. Yes, sir.

21 You ever open an envelope and it's less than what you expected? That'll make you pray. open up that check like you crazy so crazy wow love you god thank you so much for patience God always blesses you beyond what you've earned or expected so you can go and give more than what's expected of you. It's how the kingdom of God works. That when you look at your life, you're like, I'm... I didn't get this far in my dreams. How about you?

13 I can't look at my life and be like, prayed it all, knew it, five-year plan, made it happen. I look at my life, I look at my kid doing great in math. Look at our church and I go, wow. wow. And I never think to myself, look at what I've built. I always think you are so faithful.

53 You are amazing. You have gone over and above. last thing on the screen today God blesses you over and above so you can live and give over and above grace is not enough to forgive your sins grace is enough to transform your life His grace is so over and above that it will forgive you and change you in the same day. That's over and above. And us today, I'm here to tell you, our over and above offering is not about men. Zoe, those guys are over and above. No, no, no. You're missing the Genesis. You're missing the origin.

48 Those guys at Zoe are trying to become like our king. We're trying to become just a little bit more like Jesus, who every day goes over and above with fresh mercy, with goodness and faithfulness and opportunity and open doors. And I'm praying that today our response is just a reflection of our King because the culture of Zoe Church is just the culture of the kingdom of God. Whatever you're about, I'm about. However you operate, I operate. whatever you want me to do I will do and I'll do my small part and you'll do your significant part because that's how good God has been amen so stand your feet if you can and I made mention we got two envelopes
