Care Sacrificially – Part 2
David Platt, 2026-02-11

… we lie and we do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship, there it is, fourth time, koinonia, with one another. In the blood of Jesus, His Son purifies us from all sin. So we share in the body of Christ, the service of Christ, the Spirit of Christ, the Gospel of Christ, the sufferings of Christ, and finally, 1 John is telling us we share in the life of Christ. All of these things that we have in common to give us a picture of a people who belong to each other in Christ. Don't miss this. These believers, it could say that they had everything in common because their foundation was united together in Christ and there was a bond between them. just like there's a bond between us in this room who have placed our faith in christ i mean think about this this is an amazing thought that between you and me there is a bond that is christ and it's eternal bond and we share in all that christ is together as a result we belong to each other in christ we are we're tight you and me we we have this bond between us that nothing can break because Christ is eternal. …

TRUST HIM FULLY | Preacher Bowl
Guest speaker, 2026-02-09

… and just say, hold on. Now I want to go. I want to be first. But those little acts of kindness go a long way to spread God's love. If we look at 1 John chapter 1 verse 7, he says, but if we were to walk in the light as he is the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus, his son purifies us from all sin. We have the power to embody somebody else to say, this is God, this is who we are, and continue to do those small acts of kindness. One last thing, when you're working too, and you're going for, excuse me, when you're out, and you're at a meal, the waiter comes over, and they give you the wrong thing. I've seen plenty of people go and say, lose it, and say, no, that's crazy, I want this, please take it back. It's undercooked. It's whatever. But if you're nice and those little acts of kindness goes the right way, it may not be even that person that's noticing it that you're talking to. It may be somebody else that's sitting right next to you that notices that. So those lights not only shine to the people that you're talking to, but you are getting noticed. You are being watched, not only by God, but by your peers, by your crowd. And so if those little acts of kindness can go a long way, remember generosity is our privilege. We have the right to be generous. …

… paying attention to the things that help us to be saved from sin. 1 John 1, 7 says this, if we live in the light in the same way that he, Jesus, is in the light, we have fellowship with each other. And the blood of Jesus, his son, cleanses us from every sin. So if we live in the light, if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with him, friendship with him. We cultivate our friendship with him. And the Holy Spirit, you know, works in that environment. And then we find that he cleanses us. That is, he washes away, not just giving us forgiveness, but washing away our tendency to sin. All right, so Advent is a time to return to our Savior, right? This whole month is about remembering why he came, remembering why we need him, and then readying ourselves to rightly celebrate the return of our King one day when he returns, and to rightly celebrate his first coming at Christmas. All right, so I want to remind you of how John Sullivan Dwight translated one line in O Holy Night. As a result of Christ's coming, He says the whole world thrills with hope on this night that gives it a savior. …

Something Old, Something New
Levi Lusko, 2025-08-11

… is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus Christ, his son, cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, whack, right? We deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, this is that believer's bar of soap I was telling you about. He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. Thank you, God, for your word. What we just read, the first chapter, the first 10 verses of this book, is essentially the book in miniature. Now, to understand that, let me back up. Out of all the 66 books of the Bible, 1 John is very unique for a number of reasons. …

Are You Destroying the Church?
Francis Chan, 2018-01-28

… if we walk in the light as he is in the light we'll have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all unrighteousness so that's why we spend this time confessing first so next week we can come back and we can minister to one another we have real fellowship with one another and this week spending the week just repenting and cleansing ourselves of this and seeking unity with one another so we can see God move in mighty ways. now let's not stay in this place of sorrow let's worship him I believe God is so pleased. God is so pleased when we come to him like we just did and just confess what he already knows. Say, God, you know what I said about him. You know what I said about her. You know what I've said in the past about previous church experiences, previous leadership. I'm done. Forgive me. I make things right. and now he wants us to worship him. …

… also blame it on God. Now, how does this happen? Well, notice what he says. He says, cleanse, let us cleanse ourselves. Somebody says, well, wait a minute. Doesn't 1 John 1 7 say, we're to walk in the light as he is in the light and the blood of Jesus Christ, his son, cleanses us from all sin. Correct. That is all cleansing and forgiveness is from God. That is, that's the cleansing that has made us holy. But I also, and you also have a responsibility on a daily basis for dealing with those actions and those attitudes that are ungodly. Now, let's explain something. We're talking about sanctification. Sanctification is not just some biblical theological word that we should ignore. Sanctification means this, a very important word in the Bible. Sanctification means this, that God, when He sanctifies something or someone, sets that person apart unto Himself for Himself. Every single one of us who was saved by the grace of God, We were sanctified in that moment. …
