1Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours:Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ:Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and the Saviour Jesus Christ:2Grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord;3His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.seeing that his divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue,According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:seeing that his divine power hath granted unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that called us by his own glory and virtue;4Through these He has given us His precious and magnificent promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, now that you have escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust.Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.whereby he hath granted unto us his precious and exceeding great promises; that through these ye may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust.5For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith virtue; and to virtue, knowledge;Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge; And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;Yea, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply virtue; and in your virtue knowledge;6and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness;and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control, perseverance; and in perseverance, godliness; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;and in your knowledge self-control; and in your self-control patience; and in your patience godliness;7and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.and in godliness, brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love. And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.and in your godliness brotherly kindness; and in your brotherly kindness love.8For if you possess these qualities and continue to grow in them, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to not be idle or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle nor unfruitful unto the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.9But whoever lacks these traits is nearsighted to the point of blindness, having forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins. For he who lacks these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. For he that lacketh these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.10Therefore, brothers, strive to make your calling and election sure. For if you practice these things you will never stumble,Therefore, brothers, be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble.Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:Wherefore, brethren, give the more diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never stumble:11and you will receive a lavish reception into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. For thus you will be richly supplied with the entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.for thus shall be richly supplied unto you the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.12Therefore I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are established in the truth you now have. Therefore I will not be negligent to remind you of these things, though you know them and are established in the present truth.Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.Wherefore I shall be ready always to put you in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and are established in the truth which is with you.13I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of my body,I think it right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you,Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; And I think it right, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;14because I know that this tent will soon be laid aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.knowing that the putting off of my tent comes swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me.Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.knowing that the putting off of my tabernacle cometh swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ signified unto me.15And I will make every effort to ensure that after my departure, you will be able to recall these things at all times.Yes, I will make every effort that you may always be able to remember these things even after my departure. Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.Yea, I will give diligence that at every time ye may be able after my decease to call these things to remembrance.16For we did not follow cleverly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty. For we didn’t follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For we did not follow cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.17For He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to Him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”For he received from God the Father honor and glory when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when there was borne such a voice to him by the Majestic Glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased:18And we ourselves heard this voice from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain. We heard this voice come out of heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain. And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.and this voice we ourselves heard borne out of heaven, when we were with him in the holy mount.19We also have the word of the prophets as confirmed beyond doubt. And you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. We have the more sure word of prophecy; and you do well that you heed it as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts,We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:And we have the word of prophecy made more sure; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day-star arise in your hearts:20Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture comes from one’s own interpretation.knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of private interpretation.Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.knowing this first, that no prophecy of scripture is of private interpretation.21For no such prophecy was ever brought forth by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. For no prophecy ever came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke, being moved by the Holy Spirit. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. For no prophecy ever came by the will of man: but men spake from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
