… It said, this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased. And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain. You wanna underline that, on the holy mountain. And so we have, I love this, the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. Now, every message in this series, if you've been paying attention, has come from the epistles of 1 or 2 Peter. And so we end here as Peter, looking back, is talking about one of certainly the highest moments of his entire life, when Jesus took him, as well as James and John, on top of a mountain. And there, you could say, showed his true colors, right? In the incarnation, we find God wrapping himself in flesh. But for just a moment, just a sneak peek on this mountain, Jesus showed what truly he was made of. …
… With him I am well pleased. we ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain we also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable and you will do well to pay attention to it as to a light shining in a dark place until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts above all you must understand that no prophecy of scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. Peter's saying, we were there. We were eyewitnesses. And what I love about this is, he says, we were eyewitnesses. Peter, James, and John up on the mountain. This Bible, this is about, this for me. Got all my old promises. Church is me. I'll let you know when I like it and I'll let you know when I don't like it. I'll come when I can and I won't when I can't because this is about me. I like that program. I like this track. I like that thing and all that's fine. We think the cross, that's all about us. The story of Jesus' death, that's all about me. That's all about me. Heaven is all about me. I'm going to go and prepare a place for you, and I'm going to walk on streets of gold, and that's all about me. And I'm telling you, this book is all about God. This church is all about God. The cross is all about God. …
