The Untouchables

… live? Or at least it would be very difficult, right? If you thought nobody loved you. Point number three under the untouchables. Untouchable because we have an understanding. First John 5 20. We know, here's the word again, we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding that we may know him who is true and we are in him who is true, in his Son, Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. So let's look at four things we know under this, right? Number one, He says, we know the Son of God has come. And then he signs off with this. little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen. And with that, we have reached the end of our reading of the book of 1 John. Eight weeks later, we made it. Come on, somebody. N.T. Wright, who is a theologian, in writing about the way 1 John moves him as he reads it, he tells the story about the first time he went snorkeling. …

… What a dramatic transformation. At 1 John 5, 20, we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding. We've learned Christ. Understanding so that we know Him who is true, and we are in Him who is true, in His Son, Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. We are now in Christ, learned Christ. Go back to that in the fourth chapter there in Ephesians. You learned Christ. Do you remember what Jesus said in Matthew 11, 29? Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me." Even in the gospel of John, I think it's chapter 6, verse 45, it is written in the prophets, says the Lord, and they shall all be taught of God. They shall all be taught of God, borrowed from Isaiah. Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me. I love that. You have to learn to come to Christ. What do you mean learn? You have to hear truth. It has to be taught to you. …
