Train Your Heart To Trust

… like, don't you have a spear or a sword here? I haven't brought my sword or any other weapon because the king's mission was urgent. The priest replied, the sword of Goliath, the enemy you defeated before, the one that had a sword that he was going to kill you with on the day that you didn't even have a sword in your hand but just a sling and a stone, that sword that you took and cut off his head with, the sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the Valley of Elah is here. It is wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod." If you want it, take it. There's no sword here but that one. David said, I like that one. Tell somebody, I like that one. I like the one that reminds me of the victory God gave me. I like that one. Come on. How many of you are here with your wife today? Look at her and say, I like that one, the one God gave me that I didn't deserve. I like that one. That woman I'm here with today that stood by my side, I like that one. How many of you are here today and you struggled to get pregnant, but God gave you a kid and it took some time and it took some prayer? Say, I like that one. …

Get Ahead of Yourself
Levi Lusko, 2026-07-13

… He could talk and get help from God's people. So the priest said, the sword of Goliath, the Philistine, whom you killed in the valley of Elah, there it is, wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you will take that, take it. For there is no other except that one here. and David said, there's none like it. Give it to me. Come on, touch three people and tell them, give it to me. Give it to me. God wants to give you something in your future. Something has to happen today to set that into motion. Having read the scripture, let's now turn our attention to the screen and watch it played out. Do you have any weapons here? A sword, a bow? I had to leave in haste. There's no sword here except one. Come. Thank you. The sword of Goliath. It is all that is here. If it eats you, take it. Thank you. I need you to remember. Remember what? The greatness of God. …

Craving the Best Things
Charles Spurgeon, 1866-03-20

"And David said, There is none like that; give it to me." 1 Samuel 21:9. PERHAPS you remember the circumstances under which these words were spoken. David had been warned by Jonathan that Saul sought his life and, therefore, he left the court in a hurry and fled. He appears to have gone in such haste that he did not take proper provision with him—he did not even take his sword. Coming to Nob, where the priests dwelt, he received the sacred bread which had been offered to God as the showbread and he and the men with him ate thereof. And when he asked Ahimelech if he could furnish him with a weapon, he said there was no sword there save one, "the sword of Goliath, the Philistine, whom you slew in the valley of Elah. Behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if you will take that, take it: for there is no other save that here." And David said, "There is none like that; give it to me." I am not going to spiritualize my text. I want to do nothing unfair. Let me use it as a slogan. You will all allow that apt words may be employed at sundry times and in divers manners. I will simply say that as a general principle, the conviction of excellence leads us to desire possession. "There is none like that," is the conviction of excellence. "Give it to me"—there is the desire to possess. I shall illustrate this Truth of God in spiritual things upon some six or seven matters. …
