… the Bible is replete with examples telling us to be alert, to be sober, to be vigilant. First Thessalonians 5 verses 5 through 6 says, you are children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then let us not be like others who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. And I feel like God sent me to Life.Church today to tell somebody, wake up. Wake up. I wonder if you're dozing and you don't even know it. I wonder if you're spiritually asleep and you don't even know it. Because think about it. You don't know when you've fallen asleep. You don't know when you fell asleep last night. You don't know the time. You only know when somebody wakes you up. I wonder if it's the same spiritually that often I don't even know I'm dozing until somebody says, wake up. Christian – Is That You ?
Jack Hibbs, 2026-07-29

When is it finalized? When you meet Jesus, it's all done. The total, absolute salvation. Look, we're saved, and we are in route to finally being safe. when does that happen? when the believer either dies or when Christ shows up we're safe isn't that good? I love that it's so beautiful verse 10 who died for us that whether we wake or sleep living or dead we should live together with him therefore comfort each other and edify one another just as you are also doing and we urge you brethren to recognize those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you. …

… We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore, let us not sleep as others do, but let us watch and be sober. We're sons of light. They're sons of darkness. They're going to experience the day of the Lord. They're going to experience the wrath of God. We, on the other hand, are looking for the blessed hope, the glorious hope, the gathering together with the Lord in the air, because we are children of the light, children of the day. In John chapter 3, you remember John said, And this is the condemnation, light has come into the world, but men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. Neither would they come to the light, lest their deeds should be exposed. that's the unbelieving world as opposed to the believing world the sons of the day sons of the light what paul is telling the believers in thessalonica is don't fall asleep on the job christian if you're not children of the darkness but you're children of the light Don't fall asleep on the job. Anticipate his coming. Look for his coming. …
