Rev. Kea Westbrook, 2026-07-22

… But for some of us, it's just good to see and put our eyes on him. And so those two areas of 2 Chronicles chapter 36, 2 Chronicles chapter 36 verses 14 through 21. We're not going to read those, but I want us to focus on Jeremiah 25, 7 through 14. 2 Chronicles chapter 36, 14 through 21 says basically what Jeremiah 25, 7 through 14 says. I just like the way that one reads a little bit better. But basically it is explaining how the children of Israel found themselves in exile. What happened? What was going on? Why? So then it gives you some context about how we get to 126. And they're like, it was like a dream. This was exciting. So let's read Jeremiah chapter 25 verses 7 through 14. But they did not listen or incline their ears to turn from their wickedness so as not to burn sacrifices to other gods. Therefore my wrath and my anger were poured out and burned in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, so they have become a ruin and a desolation as it is this day. This is the sad, long history of Israel and Judah. Warning after warning after warning from God's preachers, they rejected them all, and they went therefore from judgment to judgment to judgment. Prophets like Elijah and Elisha, Isaiah, Jeremiah, many others, constantly confronting wayward Israel and as well sinful Judah and sinful Gentile nations, …

… Put this verse in your margins. 2 Chronicles chapter 36 and verse 16. But they mocked the messengers of God and despised his words and misused his prophets until the wrath of the Lord arose against his people till there was no remedy. Now that tells us there is a point that we can go beyond and there's no hope. Listen to that verse again. They mocked the messengers of God and despised his words and misused his prophets until the wrath of the Lord arose against his people, till there was no remedy. That is, they passed the point where there is no medicine that can do any good. Now, I believe that God wants Bellevue Baptist Church to have a vision. not yesterday's vision, but today's vision for today's need. And I've been searching and praying as a pastor to know what God wants me to say to you, what kind of a pastor I need to be, what kind of a church God wants me to lead this church to be. …
