… driven to despair. Persecuted, but not forsaken. Struck down, but not destroyed. Always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you. I read an amazing little spy story recently, just after the end of World War II, as the Cold War was really starting to heat up. The British ambassador to the United States in Washington, D.C., needed to get an urgent piece of communication back to London, but he didn't want to use the phone lines because he suspected that the Soviets might have already bugged the phone lines. There was this little diplomatic box that traveled back and forth across the pond every day between London and Washington, D.C., but the information that this ambassador had was so sensitive and so critical that he did not want to risk it being in a place that the Soviets might target it for some kind of heist or theft. …

… The righteous go through, number four, because we're becoming more powerful. 2 Corinthians chapter 4 verse 7 through 12 is on the screen read it with me if you only look at us you might well miss the brightness this is Paul talking we carry this precious message around in the unadorned clay pots of our ordinary lives that's to prevent anyone from confusing God's incomparable power with us As it is, there's not much chance of that. … not despairing, persecuted but not forsaken, struck down but not destroyed, always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifest in our body. For we who live are constantly being delivered over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal life, so death works in us, but life in you." Pragmatism wants to eliminate all of that. Pragmatism wants to find a way around any kind of pain or difficulty. And I think good intentions may be behind it, coupled with ignorance. Promoting effort to advance the kingdom, to advance the gospel by political lobbying, by any form of pragmatism, shallow gospel entertainment, emotional manipulation, acceptance of sin and sinners, is to cross over into the devil's work. It's to cross over into the devil's work. John makes a statement in 1 John 2 that all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is of the world, is not of God, and it's all passing away. …

… that is my body, the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. People will see Jesus in you when you react to trouble, heartache, sorrow, and pain like a Christian ought to. And notice what he says in verse 11. For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. So then death worketh in us, but life in you. That is, he's saying, the more I die to myself, the more I'm willing to bear suffering for the Lord Jesus, the more his life radiates out of me. And he goes on to say, we having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I have believed, and therefore have I spoken. We also believe, and therefore speak, knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus and present us with you. He says, listen, I believe what I believe and therefore I say what I say. …
