Therefore we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, yet our inner self is being renewed day by day. Therefore we don’t faint, but though our outward person is decaying, yet our inward person is renewed day by day.For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.Wherefore we faint not; but though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is renewed day by day.

… if you're focusing on all the problems and you can't wait to the latest news, well, no wonder. Second Corinthians chapter four, verse 16 to 18 says this, this is why we never give up. Are you listening? This is the key. This is why we never give up. Our spirits are being renewed every day. and our present troubles are small and won't last very long. Yet they produce in us, for us, an immeasurably great glory that's going to last forever. The temporary problems are going to produce everlasting glory and reward forever. So, he says, we fix our eyes, that's focus, not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. It's choosing what you're going to look at, choosing what you're going to focus on. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. Now let's go back on that verse. He says, first, he said, you've got to look, here's why we never give up. He said, we never give up because we're not focusing on the short we're gonna keep going. …

… Jesus uses our suffering to bring heaven to us. Paul says, so we do not lose heart, though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. The outer man is wasting away. And all God's people over 40 said, I feel it. I've talked enough about this, right? I mean, forget persecution for a minute. Age is not kind to your outer man. I heard somebody say recently that growing old is like watching a really rich person slowly become poor. Every other kind of money you start up with, you tend to grow it. But here in this one area, you start out with this rich bank account of good looks and physical prowess. And every year it decreases a little. And I get the privilege of standing up here over a lifetime so you can just watch it little by little. You can slow it down, friend, but you cannot stop it. For Paul, Paul's referring to more than just growing old, of course. …

… it doesn't matter what you're doing or not doing today. His grace is showing up in your life tomorrow. Come on, clap and praise him. It's an everyday thing. Oh, look here. Second Corinthians chapter four, verse 16. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed dude, day by day. I like that. Outwardly, we are decaying. Outwardly, we are falling apart. Outwardly, gravity is winning. Outwardly, we're not doing so good. Inwardly, we're getting stronger. Inwardly, we're getting more free. Day by day. Outwardly, you know, isn't it amazing how hard you work in your life to eat healthy and get protein in you just so you can look five years younger than what you really are? I'm in so much need of help in my physical body that I went out this week and I bought an inversion table. You don't even know what an inversion table is. I was in my garage yesterday, hanging up from my feet upside down like Batman. Because somebody told me that if I did this four times a week for four minutes, that I would have no more back pain. I would do anything for no more back pain. …

… redound to the glory of God. And then he says, for the which cause we faint not. He's just saying, I don't quit. For though our outward man perish, though they beat on this clay pot, though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. Well, Paul, how do you do that? What keeps you ticking? What keeps you going? How do you suffer like this? How were you pickled in the Mediterranean? How were you beat with a lictor's lash? How were you stoned and left for dead? How were you fasting and starving in prison? How, Paul, did you do this? Well, he tells you in verse 17, For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. Now, when you get into trouble, and especially when you get into trouble for standing up for the Lord Jesus Christ, you had better look into another world. …
