The Breakdown: "On the Come Up From Underwater"
Rev. David Malcolm McGruder & Rev. Dr. Danielle Ayers, 2026-09-23 · Scripture reading

in that moment. Right. So it calls us to understand, it calls on us to discern that just because we are faithful witnesses in the community, that it doesn't mean that we won't experience financial setbacks, that even when we're doing right, things will go wrong, but that our contributions, what we give, what we sow, is a blessing. I think, as you said, what happens if, You know, how does my financial mismanagement impact other people? Great question. We want to grow to the place where we can ask, how does my stewardship, my faithfulness to God, how will this impact and be a blessing to other folks? Right. I took a poll of 10 Christians, 10 people who went to Bible school. 9.7 of the 10 said, I've never heard that story preached before. So that means today this will be the best sermon on 2 Kings 6, 1 through 7 you've ever heard. So I'm stacking the odds in my favor. You can't say anything else. You say, well, that's the best sermon I've ever heard about that scripture because it's the only one I've heard about that scripture. Now I am rested, but I might be a little rusty, so I need your grace amens today while I'm preaching. I said I need your grace amens today. We're going to get our timing down in the first 10 minutes so we can go to church here. I don't want you to miss anything the Lord has for you, so lean in from the very beginning. …
