Where Best to Invest - Part 1
Rick Warren, 2026-09-07

… in personal growth. The Bible says in 2 Peter 3.18, grow in spiritual strength and become better acquainted with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Now, how do I do that? How do I invest in the growth fund? Well, you can write this down by using some of my money to enhance my character. To enhance my character. Some of my money expresses worship. Some of my money encourages fellowship. Some of my money enhances my own personal character, enhances my own personal growth. The Bible says this, the earnings of the godly enhance their lives, but people, evil people squander their money on sin. Now there's a zillion ways to waste your money instead of using it to grow. But God says, I want you to use some of your money to grow spiritually. Use some of your money to develop skills. Use some of your money to educate yourself. Use some of your money to become a better person, to improve yourself in every area of your life. You become a better leader. You become a better speaker. You become a better prayer. You become a better person. He says, use some of your money to do that. Now, why? Because that's what's going to last. Now, I hate to tell you this, but you're not taking your car to heaven with you. You're not taking your car. And you're not going to take your condo to heaven with you. …

… of the second grade? The Bible says in 2 Peter 3.18, grow in the knowledge and the grace of the Lord Jesus. It's a command. How are you doing? Do you know him better today than a month ago? or 10 years ago, or are you stuck? Just stuck. I'm still in second grade. It's just a zillion churches that don't try to help people get out of second grade. They're in second grade every Sunday morning. It's not a good way to do church, in my opinion. How long does he wait before he helps these readers get out of second grade? He waits two chapters. That's how long he waits. So here we are, it's high school folks, maybe college. We're going to open, we're going to put away the second grade reader, and we're going to open the college history textbook. If you want to stay in the second grade this morning, you can just doze off now. But before you do, seriously, before you do, let me try to clarify something for all of us. This writer of Hebrews is not playing Bible trivia. …

Pastor Taylor Bronisz, 2026-07-22

… and fall from your own stable position, but grow in the grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. To him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. instead of focusing on here's how to live your best life now here's four tips on how to live your best life right now there's suspiciously all things that you're already doing you know it's like you just need to do this no no no real changes but you bought my book so that works it's not what Peter's here for he's not here for the quick fix he's not here for the silver bullets instead Peter actually says hey let me give you God's perspective because you've been doing the same thing over and over and over and over. And there's these false teachers and they're more exciting and sparkly. And you want to go follow them. And you're wondering, why am I keep doing the same thing over and over? And that's why he says this in verse eight, don't overlook this fact with the Lord. One day is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like one day. The Lord does not delay his promise. And some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish, but all to come to repentance. I'm sorry, Calvinist. That's what it says. …
