Answers to Those Who Say “Hell? No!
Robert Jeffress, 2026-09-08

… Christ was compassionate toward the lost when he came to earth. All of that was during his first coming. But the Bible says when Christ comes back again as judge, in 2 Thessalonians 1.8, he will come, quote, dealing retribution to those who have not obeyed God and have not received the gospel. There will be no remorse when Christ comes again. He will deal out justice to those who deserve justice. Is Christ going to spend eternity weeping? Are the angels going to spend eternity weeping? No, there is going to be nothing but joy in heaven. And I don't understand this, but I believe when we see God and his perfection and see things as they really are, we are going to understand why it is God is just in his sentence of eternal condemnation for those who have rejected Christ. J.I. Packer says it this way, in heaven, glorifying God and thanking him for everything will always absorb us. All of our love for and joy in others who are with us in heaven will spring from their doing the same. And love and pity for hell's occupants will not enter our hearts. Their hell will not veto our heaven. There are some Christians today who are almost embarrassed to talk about hell. But ladies and gentlemen, when we fail to warn people about the reality of hell, we are perhaps unconsciously trying to elevate ourselves above Jesus Christ. …

2 Thessalonians 2:1-12
Skip Heitzig, 2026-06-03

… reward. And so that's why he says in verse 7, to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, taking vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord from and from the glory of his power. When he comes in that day, revelation, second coming, to be glorified in his saints and to be admired among all those who believe because our testimony among you was believed. This is the Revelation 19 event when he shows up from heaven and comes to the earth in visible glory. It is not rapture, it is revelation. Now I touched briefly on something last time. I want to just finish these threads, tie these threads together. In verse 9, as he's looking to the future, he talks about unbelievers being punished with everlasting destruction. …

Therefore, we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling and fulfill all the good pleasure of his goodness and the work of faith with power, that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. this letter we believe second thessalonians was penned within months of the first letter going out by paul to the thessalonians paul wrote the first one from corinth paul wrote the second one from corinth no more than a year, let's say, within a few months to a year. …

Final Judgment Launched (Revelation 8:1-5)
John MacArthur, 2024-04-14

… Verse 7 of 2 Thessalonians says that the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction away from the presence of the Lord and the glory of His power. Again, the angels involved in judgment with fire, the horrendous judgment, will be executed in some measure by angelic beings. What it marks is the end of all grace, the end of all patience, the end of all tolerance. And the question you ask after looking at that, even before you get into all the rest, is why would people reject their only hope of escape. When the gospel preached by God's people, and even in the tribulation by angels, the gospel being preached in the end times by Jews and Gentiles all over the world, as we saw from chapter 7, why, when salvation is being offered in the midst of the outbreak of the sealed judgment. Why do people reject? Why do they turn their back on their only hope? …

… But when He finally comes in the end, He will come from heaven with His mighty angels in in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power. When He comes, the next verse says, to be glorified in His saints on that day. When He comes to be glorified in His saints, at the very same time, all those who do not know God, do not obey the gospel, will be destroyed and suffer the penalty of eternal destruction. So this is the final judgment of all unbelievers on the earth at the end of the time of tribulation. The sixth seal has features that extend to the very end and to the return of Christ. And out of the sixth and seventh seal will come seven trumpet judgments that happen in months and seven bowl judgments that happen in days and maybe even in hours in rapid-fire acceleration. …

… He will repay with affliction those who afflict you. He will deal out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus, these will pay the penalty of eternal destruction away from the presence of the Lord and the glory of His power." Nobody's going to get away with anything. God's hatred of evil has led to judgment in the past. There is ongoing judgment even in the present, as His judgment is always at work in the world, And there is coming a final eschatological judgment in the future. God is angry with sin. But there's an amazing reality attached to that, and I want to show you that as we draw it to a conclusion in Psalm 103. Psalm 103. This is just a magnificent psalm of hope and encouragement. 103. We can look at verse 6 to start. Psalm 103, verse 6, the Lord performs righteous deeds and judgments for all who are oppressed. So you don't need to retaliate. …

Awaken The Dawn
Francis Chan, 2017-09-07

… when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might when he comes on that day to be glorified in his saints and to be marveled at among all who have believed because our testimony to you was believed. Paul says, I've got this unceasing anguish in my heart because I have people. He goes, man, it's like this. You guys, the Christian life is just insane in so many ways. There's this tremendous out-of-control joy. Like, are you kidding me? I'm a son of God, and I'm purified. I'm in his presence, and I'm a member of his body. And then there's this ridiculous anguish, this unceasing anguish. You're saying, wait a second, you're going to come back with all of your holy angels and flaming fire inflicting vengeance on those who don't know God? …
