The question I posed to you last time when we were in this chapter is what does he mean by the lie not a lie the lie I believe it's a reference all the way back to the very first lie in the garden of Eden when Satan suggested if you eat of this fruit, you're going to be like God. The lie is that man can become God. And the lie in particular here is that the Antichrist will claim to be God and demand to be worshiped as God. And the false prophet will cause people to worship the beast. That is the great apostasy. That is the lie. and people on the earth will be deceived by it. Because after all, how many people have you met even today who say, you know, show me a sign. …

Lord, I pray that we will be encouraged to look past the temporal into the eternal, knowing that one day we will be at rest, we will receive our abundant reward, we will be glorified when Jesus is glorified, and Jesus will be glorified when he comes back again and shows the world that he can take sinners and transform them into saints. …

God is not sending people strong delusions just because, Oh, look at this guy. I'm going to send him strong delusion. No, it's people who reject the truth and prefer the lie. Then comes the strong delusion. We live in the last days. Everything around us indicates that. 2 Timothy says that in the last days, perilous times will come. And James also said, be patient. And it says this, God will send them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false. That doesn't seem like a big jump, does it? How hard would it be for God to delude the entire population with a deluding influence? They're already deluded over things that should be obvious. And it's going to get worse, and lies and liars are going to get worse, and the delusion is going to become worse and worse until our Lord comes to judge it all. It's important for people to understand how God feels about liars and lying. Listen to Proverbs 12, 22. Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord. Now in this passage, and listen very carefully, the opposite of truth is not error, it is sin. You see, you're faced with the truth.
