2 Thessalonians 2:1-12
Skip Heitzig, 2026-06-03

… Antichrist and the false prophet who give more details than Paul does here. Verse five is interesting. He says, do you not remember that when I was still with you, I told you these things. Now this always blows my mind. You get people saved and they're saved for three weeks only. And you tell them all about the future, the Antichrist, the rapture, the second coming. That's how long Paul was in Thessalonica before they forced him out of town. Three weeks. And yet Paul thought these were important enough doctrines and not too deep for these young believers to get a grasp on. Well, he told them a lot of things. Obviously, they'd forgotten some of those things and they're now in persecution. So they're thinking, we're in the tribulation. Paul spoke about the day of wrath, but he says, do you not remember that I was, when I was still with you, that I told you these things. And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. Something is holding back this man of sin from being revealed. What is it? For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. …

The Daze Of The Antichrist – Part 3
Jack Hibbs, 2026-04-15

… Now let's dive into this and bring in this verse to your remembrance. It's right there in 2 2 Thessalonians 2 verses 3 through 5. And we're talking about this man to come, the Antichrist. Let no one deceive you by any means, for that day will not come unless the falling away. The apostasy comes first. That means people will depart from the faith, leave off unbelieving on Jesus. And the man of sin is revealed. Notice that. What comes first? Many people will give up on following Christ. and that atmosphere will prevail and precede this man of sin who will be revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worship, so that he sits as God in the temple of God. That means there's going to be a temple rebuilt in Jerusalem someday showing himself that he is God. Paul said to them, do you not remember that when I was still with you? I told you these things? Remarkable. And Jesus confirmed that himself in Matthew chapter 24 in what is known as the Olivet Discourse. Now, this is cool. When Jesus said this, he said this 2,000 years ago on the Mount of Olives. He's announcing this to his disciples in teaching them. And he's announcing to them very specific things. And it has a great, great, please mark this down. It has a great, great requirement that the end time event be focused on a particular place. Are you guys hearing me? This is important. Don't let anybody fool you on …

… or that is worship, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. Wow. Do you remember, listen to this, do you not remember that when I was still with you, I told you these things. You know what verse 5 means? Verse 5 means that when I made my first visit to you back in the days of 1 Thessalonians, do you remember I told you all about this stuff? Isn't that amazing? That Paul told them about... Oh, please, are you listening? 2,000 years ago, Paul told them about this stuff regarding the second coming. And not only the second coming, but there's going to be one who's going to be the ultimate deceiver that is going to arise in the last days. Why would he say that 2,000 years ago if it wasn't important? It's important, folks. It's amazing. Verse 6. And now you know what is restraining, that he, the son of perdition, may be revealed in his own time. …

The Daze Of The Antichrist
Jack Hibbs, 2026-03-11

… showing himself that he is God do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things and now you know what is restraining that he may be revealed in his own time There's some power holding him back from being revealed. You see that, everybody? Don't take my word for it. Look at that. There is a power that is resisting the unveiling of this Antichrist. There's something holding him back. There's a restraining force. And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. for the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains, look everybody, look how he is spelt. Look at it in your Bible. It's capital H. It's God. It's not you. It's not me. It's not the church. It's God holding back the evil and if God relaxes, the Antichrist appears. Do you know how God holds back the evil? Through the church. It's not us. It's him through us. …
