… You did yesterday, this morning. Colossians 1.10 That holy God of indignation, that Father, that Savior. never rejects us, never is contemptuous toward us. I don't know if you know that word. Never is contemptuous toward us. You're contemptuous toward your kid if you say to him, you're just a jerk. You'll never amount to anything. I don't know why I even have you. God doesn't talk like that. He will never condemn us. and he will only do what's good for us, only and always. It's mature to keep them together. It's holy to keep them together. They're not opposites. When we sin, let's accept the indignation of God. Let's not deny it. …

From Darkness to Light (Ephesians 5:8-14)
John MacArthur, 2022-06-19

… in the dark. Colossians 1.10 elucidates that a bit. Listen to these words. so that you walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work." So it's all goodness, all righteousness, and all truth. That's the fruit of the light. Romans 13, I can't resist a few verses there, starting in verse 12. The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Arm yourself with light, and don't do the deeds of the darkness. You are the light. You're in the light. You are the light. Don't do the deeds of the darkness. What does that mean? Verse 13, let us behave properly as in the day. In other words, in the day simply means with the light full on, with everything exposed, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy, but put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh in regards to its lusts. …
