I am FORGIVEN and Free - Louie Giglio
Louie Giglio, 2026-10-05

In him... We have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us. This is our focal point today. In him, in Christ, we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he has lavished on us. So let's just see if I can get a label out. Dear Lord, help us all. The label for today. I don't know what labels you're carrying around today. I don't know what's been spoken over you. I don't know what's been said about you. I don't know if you just quickly go, who am I? These few things come to mind. Maybe it's your profession. Maybe it's your name. Maybe it's your thing. I don't know what label the enemy's tried to put on you. I don't know what label you've put on you I don't know what your ex put on you I don't know what circumstances have said about you but I do know that in Christ you are forgiven 25 words in this verse. …

… 1.13, he has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the son of his love in whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins. The word conveyed means moved out of the jurisdiction of. Isn't that awesome? So though my physical body still dwells in this physical realm, spiritually, I have been conveyed. I have been moved out of the jurisdiction of this world, and I have been placed into his kingdom. That's radical. That means that whatever's going on in this world, I don't have to worry about it. This world has no power over me. This world has no power over you. Satan has no power over you. The world has no power over you, and that's what John wants you to know. Look at what Jesus prayed in John chapter 17, verse 15. He says, I do not pray that you should take them out of the world. That's why when you become born again, you don't just instantly die and go to heaven. …

The Way Of Wisdom Will Save Your Life
Jack Hibbs, 2026-05-31

… into the kingdom of the son of his love in whom we have redemption through his blood the forgiveness of sins blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ just as he chose us in him, that's foreknowledge, before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to himself according to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of the glory of his grace by which he made us accepted in the beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace, which he made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, having made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of time he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, which are on earth, in him. …

… which he has freely given us in the one he loves. In him, we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. Let's look for the last time at verse 7. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of his grace. Let's just look at the word forgiveness and redemption for one last time. Last week, well, no, last time, we looked at the first aspect of redemption. Tonight, I'd like to look at the second aspect. Redemption, the word redemption is in Greek, it's the word apolutron, which means a ransom. And a ransom means, has two sides to it. A ransom means, first of all, that the parties that are being paid for are in some sort of bondage. They're in some kind of prison. They're captured. You only pay a ransom if somebody is in slavery or bondage of some sort. Then secondly, a ransom also means that there's an exchange for the life of the person in bondage. You give some sort of payment. You give some kind of exchange or some sort of substitution so that the person in bondage can go free. So when the Bible says, Jesus redeemed you. He redeemed us. That means, first of all, that we were in dire straits. We were in a terrible condition. We were in bondage. We were in slavery. We were under a curse. …

Our Ransom (Part 2)
Tim Keller, 1992-05-17

… because I'm going to do this week and later two studies to make sure we understand the verse. the verse goes this way in him we have redemption through his blood for the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of his grace in him we have redemption through his blood the forgiveness of sins in accordance with the riches of his grace now it's such a it's such a great verse and you know that uh especially if you got the newsletter recently, you know that I promised myself I was going to move a little more quickly through Ephesians 1 than I am, and I will. But this verse, it's too rich. It's too rich and beautiful to look at once. Last week, we basically preached on the first two words, in Him. And we saw that Christianity says that all the atonement, all of the saving is in Him, not in us. Now, today, I just, tonight, pardon me, I'd like to look just for a moment to prepare us to go to the Lord's table at the word redemption. The word redemption is a pretty general word. …
