How to Walk in the Will of God
Levi Lusko, 2026-09-14 · Scripture reading

… Colossians 2, Paul speaking, As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Now these two verses, what we have here is God's will for every single Christian. There are ways in which God's will for your life is not God's will for my life, right? We can't push upon each other our callings. But what Paul gives us here is the will of God for every single believer. And that's what he desperately wanted the church at Colossae to understand so that they could participate in, so that they could walk in. We know that because if you flip just one chapter to your left in chapter one, we get Paul's prayers, which is kind of epic to get a glimpse into what Paul prays for people he cares about. And in verse nine, he prays this. For this reason, we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with what? The knowledge of his will. You can't do it if you don't know. We want you to understand his will, not just in some wisdom, but in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Now, backing up context-wise, what he says when he says, since the day we heard it, since the day we heard it, he's referring to the fact that he had never been to Colossae. He did not plant the church at Colossae. Many people, …

Bright Lights and Night Lights – Part 1
Robert Jeffress, 2026-09-14

… God's plan for every Christian is that he grows in his faith. Hold your place here and turn back to Colossians chapter 2, verses 6 and 7. Colossians 2, verses 6 and 7. These verses are really the theme of the book of Colossians. Paul says, verse 6, Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus, so walk in him. Have you ever heard people say, Well, I want to become a Christian so that I can go to heaven when I die. But that's the only part of Christianity I'm interested in. I want to get my free ticket to heaven by trusting in Christ. Then I want to live however I want to live. The Bible knows nothing of that kind of so-called salvation. The Bible says the reason you receive Christ Jesus, verse 6, is so that you can walk in him. The word walk refers to the way you conduct your everyday life. We are to receive Christ so that we can pattern our lives after him. …

The Breakdown: "You The Birthday"
Rev. Kea Westbrook, 2026-08-26

… Sunday the title of the sermon was You're the Birthday. And the scripture was Colossians chapter 2, verses 6 and 7. Colossians chapter 2, verses 6 and 7. And so I'll read that for you hearing now. Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus, the Lord, so walk in him rooted and built up in him and established in the faith. Just as you were taught abounding in thanksgiving. That's the scripture. Very simple text. But sometimes simplicity, we make it complex. And so but we'll see if we can break it down today. So a little bit of review. I want to take another look at really what's happening in the text. talk to you a little bit about what's happening in the text and then we'll jump in. So what's happening here is we have in Colossus, it was a small commercial city. And as a small commercial city, there was a lot going on, but there was a lot of different faiths, different religions that were happening. And so they were building a Christianity, a community of Christianity, but they were also being challenged by all of the different faiths and the communities, unlike the world. We go to work and there's different people that believe in different things. And so, um, Paul wanted to combat that. A lot of the teachings in the city were against the teachings of Jesus. And so Paul wanted to combat what was being spread so that the believers could stay strong. And what would happen is a lot of times they were also practicing Gnosticism …

"You The Birthday" - Rev. Kea Westbrook
Rev. Kea Westbrook, 2026-08-23

… being rooted in Christ and culture. Identity being rooted in Christ and culture. So today we'll look at Colossians chapter 2, verse 6 and 7. Colossians chapter 2, verses 6 and 7. I'm reading from the ESV translation. Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. That's it. You may be seated. We would consider a thought for just a moment. You the birthday. You're the birthday. Teachers, don't be mad at me. It's the culture. It's the culture. You the birthday. Lord, oh Lord, help me make that plain. In Jesus' name, have your way and be glorified. In Jesus' name, amen. I do love to drive when I'm going on trips. I like to drive because it helps me think. It helps me process. But I don't like being caught in traffic. I don't like the long drive home. That is not about peace and serenity and hearing from God. …

… You can jot that down and pray through it. It's as you have received Christ Jesus, the Lord. So walk in him, being rooted and grounded in your faith, established, and that you may abound in thanksgiving and in glory to God. So that'll be what we'll be preaching through each night. And so do that, get you one of these little bracelets and pray every week that God will send an awakening to our students that will not just transform their high schools, but transform our church and this whole community. God is doing something in this next generation and we really wanna lean into it. So anyway, that'd be my personal request to you. Now, if you have your Bibles, and I certainly hope that you do, I want you to take them out and open them to Philippians chapter 4, Philippians 4, and we could all stand together for the reading of God's word. You listen as I read the first 10 or so verses beginning in verse 2. …

Sinclair Ferguson: Progressive Holiness
Sinclair Ferguson, 2025-12-03

… to make progress in sanctification. And the words I want to read from Colossians two, verses 6 and 7 are these. Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus, the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. We might say there are three stages to our sanctification. There is the decisive initial stage that we were thinking about before lunchtime. There is the final climactic stage when regeneration, justification, adoption, sanctification all come to their final consummation in our glorification. When the sanctification that began in our regeneration is consummated, when God's purpose for us, that we should be conformed to the image of his son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers, the day for which the apostles longed when we see the Lord Jesus face to face and are finally made like him, that day will be the consummation of sanctification. And what we are thinking about is the space in between, the progress in between, between the D-Day of our conversion and the V-Day of our final glorification. …

Grace is God at Work - Louie Giglio
Louie Giglio, 2024-12-02

… Paul. So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him. The ESV translation says, therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him. Live your lives in him and walk in him. How do I live in him and how do I walk in him? This is the question everybody in the room is probably wrestling with. I know I'm saved and I know God did that, but I'm struggling in this relationship right now. I'm struggling in these decisions I'm making. I'm struggling in this temptation. I'm struggling with this situation that I'm walking through. How do I do this? I know how God did that, but how do I do this today? And he tells us, just as you receive Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him or so walk in him so how did you receive Christ as Lord back to Ephesians 2 how did we receive him as Lord you see it say it with me How? By grace through faith. How'd you receive him? By grace through faith. So now he's inviting you. Same way you received him is the way you walk in him. So how do you walk in him? …
