The Gifts That Keep On Giving
Greg Laurie, 2026-10-25

… Whatever you do, do it for the glory of God. Colossians 3.23 says, work willingly in whatever you do. It's so you're working for the Lord rather than for people. So whatever you do, and this is true of life, whatever your career is, I don't know what you do, but do it well. If you are working at In-N-Out Burger, flip those burgers for the glory of God. And I'll take mine animal style. Thank you very much. If you're a builder, you work for the glory of God. you work hard. You work honestly. If your work is programming a computer, you do that for God's glory as you nerd out on junk food on this side. If your gift is an athlete, be a great athlete. If your gift is music, practice, and get better at what you do, and do it well. Whatever you do, do it for God's glory. And if you serve, serve well. Serve faithfully. And serve for God's very glory. Every person matters. Serve them well. Some are called to teach the Word of God. …

Being Excellent In The Workplace
Joel Osteen, 2026-10-09

… oh man, I got to go to work again. What a bummer. No, get up with enthusiasm and say, I get to go to work today to honor God. The scripture says here in Colossians 3 23, whatever you do, do it with all your heart as though you're working under God and not under men. You have to realize you're not just working for people. You're not just working for that company, not even just working to get a paycheck, even though that's part of it. But the truth is you are working under God. He's the one that gave you breath to breathe today. He's the one that woke you up this morning. You may have thought it was the alarm clock, but God was the one that gave you strength to get out of bed. He's the one that's given you your talents, gifts, wisdom, creativity. You have a responsibility to use what you have to honor Him. Do you know when you look good, it makes God look good? When you get promoted, God is honored. When you excel and you go around telling people, I got this new position. God's been so good to me. You are exalting God. You're bringing attention to Him. But when we just sit back and dread going to work and we can't wait till five o'clock and we're not growing. We're not applying what we know. We are not being responsible with what God's given us. He has entrusted you with his gifts. He is expecting …

Vanity of Human Glory
John Henry Newman

And hence we draw an important lesson for ourselves, which, however obvious, is continually forgotten by us in the actual business of life; viz. to do our duty without aiming at the world's praise. Mankind knows nothing of St. Simon's and St. Jude's deeds and sufferings, though these were great; yet there is One who "knows their works, and labour, and patience, . . . and how they bore . . . and for His Name's sake laboured, and fainted not." Their deeds are blotted out from history, but not from the Lamb's book of life; for "blessed are they who die in Him, . . . that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them." On this great practical rule, viz. to do what we do heartily, as unto the Lord, and not unto men, I shall now make some remarks; and in doing so, I shall be pointing out a mode in which we may follow these blessed Saints, whose lives at first sight seem to have left no pattern behind them for our imitation. …
