Sermons on Daniel 9:26

Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and will have nothing. Then the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood, and until the end there will be war; desolations have been decreed. After the sixty-two weeks the Anointed One will be cut off, and will have nothing. The people of the prince who come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end will be with a flood, and war will be even to the end. Desolations are determined. And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. And after the threescore and two weeks shall the anointed one be cut off, and shall have nothing: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and even unto the end shall be war; desolations are determined.

Early Warning Signs

… then after the 62 weeks and the seven weeks that preceded it, 483 years, then after those 483 years, Messiah will be cut off. That's a reference to the crucifixion and have nothing. And the people who are the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. Who is the prince who is to come? Different prince. This is the Antichrist, the people of the prince who is to come. The Antichrist will rule over a resurrected Roman empire. And he's saying the people of this future prince, that is Romans, will destroy the city. That happened in 70 AD when Titus entered the city and destroyed Jerusalem. And its end will come with a flood. Now verse 27, and he, that is the prince, the Antichrist, will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, one week, seven years. That is when the final seven years begins ticking off. The sign that God has restarted the stopwatch is when the Antichrist will make a firm covenant with Israel for seven years. But in the middle of that seven years, after the first three and a half years, he will break that covenant. He will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering, and on the wings of abominations will come one who makes desolate. There are seven years left for God to finish his plan with Israel. Right now, the stopwatch is stopped. Between verses 26 and 27, we are living in that gap of time we call the church age. This is the time that God has …

… the anointed one Daniel chapter 9 verses 24 to 27 says you want to know how you identify Israel's Messiah yes tell us how well the big deal is he's going to be cut off for committing a capital offense and for that he dies what capital offense did Jesus commit You have to think this through. He's sinless. So how does this apply to him? Ah, why did they kill him? Why did they coerce? Listen, the whole trial, all the trials that went on that night, all of those trials were illegal. The Jews could not hold trial at night. It's against the law. And they are pressuring the Romans to go along with their nefarious plot. Doesn't the Bible say that they hired liars to testify against Jesus? What was going on? they this god is so amazing did not the bible tell us from old to new testament that the messiah would die for our sins think of isaiah 53 so how's the messiah going to die for our sins he's going to die for our sins but what about those who who rejected him did god make them reject him did god Did God condemn them so that they had to reject Jesus? …

… followed by 62 more weeks. Now watch this, this will blow your mind. After those 69 weeks are over, Daniel 9.26 says, after the 62 weeks, the anointed one will be cut off. So seven weeks and 62 weeks equals 69 weeks. And then the anointed one, the Messiah, will be cut off. 69 weeks is 483 years. If you start here at 445 BC, when Artaxerxes gave the decree to rebuild Jerusalem, and you add 483 years, it brings you to 32 AD, which is roughly the day that Jesus was crucified and he was cut off, which is a pretty amazing prophecy if you ask me, right? God gave Daniel the date that Jesus would die some 500 or so years before it happened. Now, I know some of you that are super quick at math, you know, wait a minute, 445 plus 483 doesn't get us exactly to 32 AD. That's because you have to use a 360-day year which is what Jewish people at the time used, that would get you to 32 AD. …

… this? It's amazing. The church has continued on the evangelistic work, but that's what the tribulation is for. That's what Daniel chapter 9 verses 24 to 27 is for. The tribulation period, look at it this way. It's the opportunity for the Jews to preach the gospel to the ends of the earth like they should have 2,000 years ago, but God nowhere says he replaces them. Nowhere. Nowhere. In fact, the book of Revelation does say, in the book of Revelation, letters to the seven churches, Jesus says that, and he condemns them who say they are Jews and are not, but are of the synagogue of Satan. there are people who are saying, we're the new Jews. The church has taken the place. Well, you're not a Jew. No, but we've taken the place of the Jew. Interesting. Jesus said, watch out for those who say they're Jews and are not. Wow. Yeah, when anybody brings it up, Romans 9, 10, 11. You can't read chapter 9 without reading 10 and 11. …
