But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be under a curse! But even though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you any “good news” other than that which we preached to you, let him be cursed. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. But though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach unto you any gospel other than that which we preached unto you, let him be anathema.

… sacraments and joined this particular church and, and, and, and. It's faith in Christ and for salvation. Paul says no. In Galatians 1.8, he says, if any man preaches another gospel, that is another gospel besides faith in Christ alone, let that man be anathema. Let him be damned. The Bible says it is faith in Christ alone that saves. And to prove that to the Galatians, he uses the story of Abraham. Look at verse 6. Even so, Abraham believed God and it was reckoned to him as righteousness. Remember, he's talking to Jews here. He's saying, you want to know how a person is saved? Let's go back to the father, our father Abraham, and see how he was saved. Was he saved by faith and works and circumcision? No. Abraham believed God and it was reckoned to him as righteousness. Verse 7, therefore be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham. Now I'm going to talk about this more in the weeks ahead. …
… I got this idea. The Bible tells us in Galatians chapter one, verse eight, that even if an angel shows up and tells you something, like here's some new books to add to the Bible? He says, you don't even trust that. Because if it's not in the Bible, he says, God's will will never contradict God's word. Most of what God's already wanted us to know is found in this book. And if you read it, God will guide you. You know, you say, well, if I act on what God's already told me, then you're telling me he's gonna tell me more? That's exactly what I'm saying. All right, number four. If I want to be led by God's Spirit, I must ask the Holy Spirit to be my guide. I must ask the Holy Spirit to be my guide. Do you remember in high school, they had a position on the faculty called the school guidance counselor? Anybody remember that? They were supposed to help you decide if you were going to go to college or get a job or get in the military or whatever. …
… read the New Testament. He couldn't read 2 Corinthians 11, 14, even Satan can disguise himself to look like an angel of light. Or Galatians 1, 8, though we or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. so Muhammad could never read the New Testament anyway so Khadijah the wife takes Muhammad to her cousin Warak ibn Naufal who's a follower of a heretical sect of Ebionites that said Jesus was less than God a created being and he said maybe this is the spirit that appeared to Moses and then the cousin dies and Muhammad's left with this spirit and in 610 AD he goes into the city of Mecca, and he feels like there's something in his religion for everybody, right? The Manichaeism, there's something for the Jews, something for the Christians, something for the pagans, something for the Zoroastrians, and nobody likes it. And so he only makes 70 converts, gets confrontational. …
… Matters of dispute and matters of doctrine. Galatians chapter 1, verse 8 and 9. When the gospel is not being preached in the church, who's accountable? Yes, in one sense the leader is, but Galatians chapter 1 says if the gospel is not being preached in the church, the church is accountable for not rising up and addressing that. You're accountable. If I'm not teaching that which is the Word of Christ, then you are accountable for addressing that according to Scripture. In matters of dispute, doctrine, and in matters of discipline. It's what we've studied for three weeks on church discipline. Matthew 18, final step. Tell it to the elders? No. Tell it to a small group of leaders? No. Tell it to the what? The church. 1 Corinthians 5. It is the church that is responsible for removing that brother, an unrepentant brother, from membership. It's the church that is accountable for all of those things. So the body obeys the Word that leaders teach. That's what submission means in Hebrews 13, 17. …
… the apostle Paul had to say. Here's what the apostle Paul had to say. AND PUT THIS VERSE IN YOUR MARGIN, GALATIANS 1, VERSES 8 AND 9. THE APOSTLE PAUL SAID, THOUGH WE ARE AN ANGEL FROM HEAVEN, PREACH ANY OTHER GOSPEL UNTO YOU THAN THAT WHICH WE HAVE PREACHED UNTO YOU, LET HIM BE ACCURSED. ANATHEMY. YOU KNOW WHAT THAT WORD LITERALLY MEANS? LET HIM BE DAMNED. NOW PAUL WASN'T CURSING, BUT WHAT PAUL SAID IS, THE ROAD TO HELL IS ANY OTHER GOSPEL OTHER THAN THE GOSPEL OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. AND THEN PAUL REITERATES IT IN VERSE NINE, AS WE SAID BEFORE, SO SAY I NOW AGAIN, IF ANY MAN PREACH ANY OTHER GOSPEL UNTO YOU THAN THAT YE HAVE RECEIVED, LET HIM BE A CURSE. NOW THE BIBLE IS A NARROW BOOK. THERE CAN BE NO COMPROMISE WITH THE GOSPEL. FAR BETTER IT WOULD BE FOR YOU TO SAY TWO AND TWO IS FIVE THAN TO COMPROMISE WITH THE GOSPEL OF our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I don't know why it is, but people don't like, uh, ministers to say this is the way it is. Now they want their airplane pilot to be very narrow-minded. If you're flying on airplanes, say, now you'd be narrow-minded. You let the flaps down, let the landing gear down and so forth. Uh, they want their pharmacist to be very narrow-minded. They want their banker to be very narrow-minded when he's handling their money. Uh, they, they, they, they want everybody …
