Into The Dark Realm

… Next verse. Genesis 1.31, last verse. Then God saw everything that he had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Good, good. God creates good. So moving ahead next week together, was evil or how is evil created? How did that come about? What is the Genesis, no pun intended, of evil? And we'll have to study that. Now, we'll get into, if you scan the notes, you'll see that I just now got to point number one, which is time to end. But here's what I want to do. I want to do this. I'm going to ask Gia to come back out. I'm going to ask you tonight, we've talked a lot about evil and the devil, and I want tonight, before you leave, I want you to pray. In this gathering together, I'm not saying pray out loud. I'm just saying let's stick together right now as a church, as what would be a holy convocation, a gathering of believers. …

… And it was so. and God saw everything that he had made and behold, it was very good. And there was evening, there was morning, the sixth day. Okay, first truth about biblical manhood and womanhood. And we're gonna, I'm gonna mention at different points a variety of different passages in the New Testament, but because of all the ground we got to cover, we're not gonna have time to turn there, but you might write them down as we get to them. Three truths. Number one, God created men and women with equal dignity. God created men and women with equal dignity. In this first chapter of the Bible, after a Trinitarian council in verse 26, God created man and woman in his image. Nothing else in all creation. Not even the mighty majestic angels created in the image of God. But man and woman, both born. Equally valuable to God. Equally important to God. equally in the image of God. Equal dignity before God and equal dignity before each other. …

And it was so. And God saw everything that he had made, and look, it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning, the sixth day. In this way, the heavens and the earth were complete and all their host. And on the seventh day, God completed the work that he had done, and God rested on the seventh day from all the work that he had done. And God blessed the seventh day, and God made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work of creating that he had done. These are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day God made the earth and the heavens. That's from Genesis chapter 1. So how do those words sit with you? Maybe you can. Look out your window, or if you're outside, just look around, and you can see it. You can see that same dry land, that same earth, and all the things that creep on it, and the waters that gather into the sea, and the trees swaying, and the birds soaring above, and the canopy of the sky. You can see it. Everything is a gift. Or maybe you're having one of those days, or seasons, or years, and it all seems wasted and empty. …

… And then verse 31 says, God saw everything that he had made. And up until this point, God saw all that he made and it was good. On this day, God saw everything that he had made and behold, it was what? It was really, really, really good. This picture of people created for intimacy with the creator, unlike anything else in all creation. Just let this soak in. The God who spoke the whole world into being, the omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, omnipresent, eternal, infinitely holy, infinitely righteous, infinitely worthy, sovereign, sustainer, and creator of everything has formed you right where you are sitting for personal, intimate relationship with him. That's awesome. Now, don't use that word lightly. In Genesis chapter 1 and 2 show us that man and woman experience this intimate relationship with God until they sin, until they decide that they know better than God what is best for their lives. And they lose this intimacy with him. So jump to Genesis 3, verse 24, where Louis was this morning, where he read that God drove out the man, and at the east of the Garden of Eden, he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life. …

God's Good Design in Humanity
David Platt, 2025-09-24

… creeps on the earth. Everything that has the breath of life. I've given every green plant for food. And it was so. And God saw everything that he had made. And behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. Oh, there's so much here. And like I said, it's stunning. God has just described the crown jewel of all creation. And do you realize what it is. It's us. It's you and me. All of us, without exception, unlike anything else in all creation, you and I, people, are images of the creator. Mark it down. Humanity's defining characteristic is that we are all equally made in the image of God himself. This is who we are. Now, some might say, don't you mean were? This is who humans were before sin came into the world in Genesis 3? And I don't mean that because the Bible doesn't say that. You look in Genesis chapter 5, verses 1 through 3, and Genesis chapter 9, verse 6. …

Marriage on Mission - Louie Giglio
Louie Giglio, 2025-06-08 · Scripture reading

… plants. And he goes on to tell them all the things that he is allowing them to rule over. and then down to verse 31. God saw all that he had made, the man and the woman, mankind. And it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. Very good, he said about the man and the woman. Why? Because they were created by God and they were created in the image of God and they were very good. Now, we know the tragedy of the fall, but the reality of the creation is still true of you even in the tragedy of the fall. You are created in the image of God. And when he sees the creation in you of his image, he says, I made you very good. Your behavior might not have been so very good, but you are very well made. And when we understand this, it allows us to come towards marriage, understanding that that person isn't the person who's going to tell me and make me feel that I'm very good. I'm already very good coming here today because I'm created in the image of God. He unfolds how this all worked in the next section. It says about the creation, then the Lord formed a man from the dust of the ground. This is an important idea, I think, for marriage that we're not talking about today. But guys, we're big, we're strong, we're tough, we're smart, we're leaders, but we came out of the dirt. We're dust. And if we understand that we're dust and we're going to …
