… We are inviting them to know the love of God that comes through Christ Jesus and to be born again. Genesis 22, verse 18. This is all an introduction. We haven't even started yet. Genesis 22, 18 says, In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed because you have obeyed my voice. God speaks to Abraham. Genesis 26, verse 4, And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven. I will give to your descendants all these lands. By the way, you go search and see, and it's actually the Hebrew descendants of Abraham. And in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed. Remarkable. One more. Galatians chapter 3 verse 16. Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He does not say and to seeds as of many but as of one. And to your seed who is Christ. What does that mean? Jew and Gentile must come to Christ to experience the blessings of God for salvation. …
… It's a cliche for a good reason. Again, the promises in Genesis chapter 22, verses 15 through 18 are lasting promises. The book of Hebrews explains this chapter. These saints who received these promises in the Old Testament died in faith. But that did not shake the certainty of God's power to honor his promises for his people. They did not receive the fullness of the blessings that the Lord had in mind for them. but death is not powerful enough to threaten the promises of God. Your eternal life, comfort, and peace, the house that the Lord God is preparing for you to live in with him forever is not threatened by death, certainly not by your own death. The book of Hebrews says it this way in chapter 2 verse 9 that Jesus, Christ went up to that cross to die so that your death would become something new. So that your death would not be like the death of the people of the world, the death of the people who do not know the Lord who gives life. …
It is just so with you, Sinner! You are powerless to save yourself, but all power in Heaven and in earth has been committed to Christ—He is mighty to save! Therefore trust Him to save you! Rest wholly upon what He is as the Christ of God, the anointed and appointed Savior—and upon what He has done upon Calvary's Cross to save all who believe in Him—and you shall be saved this very hour! Trust Jesus here and now and you shall be saved here and now—and to God shall be all the Glory forever and ever! Amen. GENESIS 22:1-19. Verse 1. And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt—[See Sermon #2223, Volume 37—abraham's trial—a lesson FOR BELIEVERS.] That is, "God did test or try"- 1, 2. Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. And He said, Take now your son. "But, Lord, I have two sons, Ishmael and Isaac." 2. Your only son. "But, Lord, both Ishmael and Isaac are my sons and each of them is the only son of his mother." 2. Isaac, whom you love. See how definitely God points out to Abraham the son who is to be the means of the great trial of his father's faith—"Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love."— 2. And get you into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell you. It was usually the way, in God's commands to Abraham, to make him sail under sealed orders. When he was first bidden to leave his country and his kindred, and his father's house, he had to go to a land that God would show him. They have true faith who can go forth at God's command, not knowing where they are going! So Abraham did, and now the Lord says to him, "Take Isaac, and offer him for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell you." …
