For the vision awaits an appointed time; it testifies of the end and does not lie. Though it lingers, wait for it, since it will surely come and will not delay. For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won’t prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it, because it will surely come. It won’t delay. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hasteth toward the end, and shall not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not delay.

Then the Lord replied, Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets, so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time, it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it. It will certainly come and will not delay. See, he is puffed up. His desires are not upright, but the righteous will live by his faith. Indeed, wine betrays him. He is arrogant and never at rest. Because he is as greedy as the grave and, like death, is never satisfied, he gathers to himself all the nations and takes captive all the peoples. Will not all of them taunt him with ridicule and scorn, saying, Woe to him who piles up stolen goods and makes himself wealthy by extortion! How long must this go on? Will not your debtors suddenly arise? Will they not wake up and make you tremble? Then you will become their victim. Because you have plundered many nations, the people who are left will plunder you, for you have shed men's blood, you have destroyed lands and cities and everyone in them. Woe to him who builds his realm by unjust gain to set his nest on high, to escape the clutches of ruin. You have plotted the ruin of many peoples, shaming your own house and forfeiting your life. The stones of the wall will cry out, and the beams of the woodwork will echo it. Woe to him who builds a city with bloodshed …
… that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it will speak and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it because it will surely come. It will not tarry. we might be tempted to think that God is tarrying in fulfilling the promises in our lives. That God is taking his sweet time to fulfill what he said he was gonna do. But that is because we are looking at the issue from our limited earthly perspective. We as humans are anchored in this moment in time. We can't go back in time and we do not know what the future holds. That's a difficult place to be. And so yes, we have our own timetables, our own expectations. And God is saying, I am moving. I am doing something, but I'm not doing it on your schedule. It's exactly what second Peter says in chapter three, but beloved, do not forget this one thing that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, a thousand years is as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise as some count slackness. I'm not tarrying the way you think that I'm tarrying, but it is long. He is long suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. We can't lose sight of the realities that God is always working. He will often use unexpected means to accomplish his purposes. …
… That he may run who reads it. for the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it will speak and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it, because it will surely come. It will not tarry. God's timing will be right. And I'm preaching today on you get what you see. You get what you see. Vision in the Bible is mentioned many times. There were open visions. There were closed visions. There were people who were carried in a vision by God to places, even to the third heaven. But the kind of vision that this text is giving us a blueprint for affects all of us. Vision is the ability to see a day you have yet to enter into. Vision is what you focus on. He said, I will watch to see what he will say. Not just hear what he will say, but I'm watching, Habakkuk said, to see what God is saying. In other words, if you're going to see what they're saying, it's a picture. …
… God is never in a hurry, but He is never late. Habakkuk 2 verse 3 says, for the vision is for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak and not lie. Many of us are waiting for Jesus to come. Now people say, where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation. You can put it down big, plain, and straight. He is coming. He is coming. He's coming in God's good time, but He's coming. Our Lord is coming. Next, you can say this in the midst of your storm. I am guarded by His power. I am guarded by His power. Notice what He says in verse 20. It is I, be not afraid. I don't know who first said this, but He said a mouthful when He said, The will of God will never take you where the grace of God cannot keep you. God has a plan for you. …
