Seek the prosperity of the city to which I have sent you as exiles. Pray to the LORD on its behalf, for if it prospers, you too will prosper.”Seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to Yahweh for it; for in its peace you will have peace.”And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the Lord for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace. And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray unto Jehovah for it; for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.

… Now the exact opposite has happened. You guys have turned that city around. People want to move to that city. This is an important thing. People don't realize that good government, like Jeremiah 29 verse 7 tells us that the city that you're in, you should look out for its own welfare. And if you do that, it will be at peace. And those within that city, they will enjoy the peace. What a verse. That's what you guys have done. Yes. Well, I'm a fighter and the value system is there. Every single decision that I make on council, I'd look through a filter, right? There's a moral North Star, but then there's also a calculus of removing government from the equation. There's a Thomas Sowell approach as well is that what does this cost? You know, are we creating a bigger problem? But I'm not just willy nilly making decisions. There's arithmetic to this, right? It is a word problem of sorts and you conjugate it through the right framework. …
So think that one through for a moment. Jeremiah 29.7 tells us that we should all be taking care of the town in which you live in where God has placed you for its own welfare and you should pray for its peace. Wow. and the Bible says here, who's God? Blessed is the nation, who's God? God. The Hebrew Elohim. It's an amazing word. It's Genesis chapter one. Moses wrote it. In the beginning, Elohim created the heavens and the earth. Look, none of us understand that statement, by the way. By the way, if you can get through Genesis chapter one, verse 1. The rest of the Bible is downhill. You want to know why? In the Hebrew, El is God, but Oim, our In, is a plurality. Here, O Israel, the Lord our God is one. But Genesis 1.1 says he's a singular plurality. He's one God. who has manifested himself throughout Scripture in the Trinity. The Bible teaches God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. …
Jeremiah 29, 7. Seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive and pray to the Lord for it, for in its peace you will have peace. Wisdom calls you to be involved. And then very quickly, verse 22 tells us that wisdom is speaking to you no matter how you and I feel. How long, listen to these, How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? For scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge. Very quickly on this. Listen to reason, everyone. Listen, no matter how you feel, it doesn't matter. No matter how you feel, listen to reason. When he says, How long, oh simple ones, will you love simplicity? It means that they were without reason. They don't have it. Look at the word simple. The word simple in Hebrew is this, to be wide open. Watch this. Simple, to be wide open, uncovered or exposed, like an open hole, ditch, or channel. Now, that's the word simple. …
