Though He slay me, I will hope in Him. I will still defend my ways to His face.Behold, he will kill me. I have no hope. Nevertheless, I will maintain my ways before him.Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.Behold, he will slay me; I have no hope: Nevertheless I will maintain my ways before him.

… God help us to get to that place where no matter what is going on around us, what is going on inside us is though he slay me, I will trust. And this verse means a lot to me because in the early days of the Jesus movement, in one of the communes, when a lot of us were living in community with each other. I had a good friend who wrote this song, and these were the lyrics of his song. Though he slay me, I will trust. Praise him even from the dust. Though I'm down, I will look up to you, my Lord. And I remember Jimmy Roser singing that song in the communes. Anyway, I'm being nostalgic. So though he slay me, I will trust him. Even so, I will defend my own ways before him. He also shall be my salvation. I love that. He also shall be my salvation. Somebody once said, you'll never know Jesus is all you need until Jesus is all you've got. …
… strengthens me. Remind yourself though he slay me yet will I trust in him. Tell yourself the Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? See some of y'all can't say those things because you don't know the word. But if you get in the word and you know the word you can talk and speak the word over your life who know what I'm talking about right here somebody give somebody a high five and say I know what I'm talking about it here I'm gonna encourage myself Remind yourself that I serve a God that can make a way out of no way. Remind yourself that I'm not going to judge my future by my present circumstances. Tell yourself, remind yourself that where I am is not my destination. It's not what I'm going to, it's what I'm going through. Oh, I feel like shouting right now. Somebody tell your neighbor, speak right things over your life. Tell them, speak hope over your life. Speak victory over your life. …
… because you can honestly say, though he slay me, yet will I trust him. See, I need y'all going crazy in the chat right now. I need y'all to go crazy in the chat and repeat that with me. Though he slay me, yet will I trust him. That's why the proclamation is so important. It is the moment where God turns his ear closer to us. When God hears sincere worship, when God smells the aroma of praise, God has a desire to lean in closer to hear what's being said. And with God having his ear towards us, this is the moment that lends itself to the fifth and final component, which is the petition. The petition in the text is found in the final two verses. Verses 16 and 17 when it states, Turn to me and be gracious to me and save the son of your manservant. Show me a sign of your favor that those who hate me may see and be put to shame because of you. …
… wrestling under the suffering that had come into his life. At the bottom of the statue, there is one verse from Job's mouth. I think it's from Job 13. Though he slay me, yet will I praise him, yet will I trust him. Though he slay me, yet will I trust him. Now, Job, Job, you didn't really have to do that. Anyone who trusts God will not be crushed. Anyone who trusts God will not be let down. Anyone who trusts God, God would never forsake. There's only one person in the history of the universe that actually had to say that. There's only one person in the history of the universe that actually did that. Only Jesus said, though you slay me, yet I will trust you. And it happened. When it says God made him sin on the cross, does that mean he actually became sinful? Oh, no. Look at the devotion. Look at the breathtaking holiness and righteousness. Look at the breathtaking obedience. No one has ever had to say, though you slay me, yet will I trust you. …
… But this is the verse that sets the tone for what I have to say today. And here it is, Job chapter 13 and verse 15. Job says concerning Jehovah, though He slay me, though He slay me, yet will I trust Him. Now, the title of the message is, Can God Be Trusted in Your Troubles? All of us know that God is necessary. We know we could not exist without Him. I hope you know that. But that's not really the greatest question. Not only is God necessary, the great question is, is God enough? And we all know that God brings blessings. But we have to admit also that God allows troubles. Now, can God be trusted with our troubles? You know what the devil thinks? The devil thinks that anybody who serves God without some ulterior motive is a fool. Just go back to Job chapter 1 and look, if you will, in the first three verses. There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job. …
… attention, because you're going to need this. We're all going to need it. Chapter 13, look in verse 15. Job said this, though he slay me, yet will I trust him. Do you see it? If that's not UNDERSCORED. YOU BETTER UNDERSCORE IT. HA, HA, JOB 13, VERSE 15, THOUGH HE SLAY ME, YET WILL I TRUST HIM. NOW LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING. YOU AND I HAVE THE BOOK OF JOB IN OUR HANDS. WE HAVE THE BIBLE AND WE CAN READ THE BOOK OF JOB FROM BEGINNING TO END. AND WE WERE BACK THERE BEHIND THE STAGE WHEN GOD AND SATAN WERE TALKING. WE READ ALL THIS. JOB HAS NOT READ ALL OF THIS AT THIS TIME. HE DOESN'T KNOW ALL OF THIS. THE BOOK ENDS WITHOUT JOB EVER KNOWING WHAT WENT ON. GOD DIDN'T SAY TO JOB, NOW JOB, WHAT'S HAPPENING HERE IS WE'RE HAVING A CONTEST AND THE DEVIL SAYS IF I TAKE EVERYTHING AWAY FROM YOU, YOU'LL CURSE ME AND I'M GOING TO PROVE THE DEVIL IS WRONG AND I'M GOING TO SHUT THE DEVIL'S MOUTH AND YOU'RE GOING TO HELP ME TO SHUT THE DEVIL'S MOUTH. GOD NEVER TELLS JOB THAT. JOB DOESN'T KNOW THAT. WE KNOW IT. YEAH, SURE, WE KNOW IT BECAUSE WE'RE READING IT. BUT JOB DIDN'T HAVE THE BOOK OF JOB TO READ. I WANT YOU TO UNDERSTAND THAT. NOW LET ME JUST SHOW YOU WHAT KIND OF DARKNESS JOB IS IN, WHAT KIND OF MYSTERY JOB IS IN. SEE, TRAGEDY GOES TO MYSTERY. GO, GO, IF YOU WILL, CHAPTER 23 AND LOOK IN VERSES ONE THROUGH FIVE AND …
