Chuck Swindoll, 2026-10-06 · Scripture reading

… That took some humility to say that. Here now, and I will speak. I will ask you. If you ask me to give you the core message of the book of Job, I'd give you chapter 42 and verse 3. Coming to an understanding that God's plans are beyond our understanding and too deep to explain. Number four. Only through God's instruction are we able to humble ourselves and rest. Only through God's instruction are we able to humble ourselves and rest. Where do I get that? Into verse 4, down through verse 6. I will ask you and you instruct me. Oh God, I will ask you. You reveal to me whatever it is I need to know about yourself and about these circumstances. I have heard of you with the hearing of the ear. Now my eye sees you. Therefore, I've got an argument. I will take you to court. Just this past week, a good friend of mine sent me a classic example of just how litigious our society is. Matter of fact, it's an award-winning story. It won first place in a recent criminal lawyer's award contest. A Charlotte, North Carolina lawyer purchased a box of very rare and expensive cigars. Therefore, I retract, and I repent in dust and ashes. Our Father, we find words like that... so appealing to us in this age in which we live, where so seldom our adult ears ever hear words like, I am sorry, and even how rarely our own mouths say, I was wrong, and I repent.
