Night Seasons | Joel Osteen
Joel Osteen, 2026-10-07

It's a night season, not a night lifetime. In Job's darkest hour, when he was the most discouraged, God said to him, I will fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy. God was saying, Job, it looks bad. You don't understand it, but don't worry. It's not permanent. It's just a season. I'm about to fill your mouth with laughter. God is saying to you what he said to Job, life may not have been fair, but you're not going to live discouraged, overwhelmed by problems, burdened down by illnesses. Joy is coming. Health is coming. Breakthroughs are coming. Promotion is coming. God is about to fill your mouth with laughter. That means God's going to do something so unusual, so extraordinary. You'll be so amazed. All you can do is laugh. Your mourning is going to be turned to dancing. Your sorrow turned to joy This is what happened with job. He didn't just make it through the night season But god restored back to him double what he lost He came out with twice the cattle twice the sheep twice the business. He felt twice as healthy God always makes the enemy pay for bringing the trouble If you'll stay in faith, you won't just come out. You will come out better than you were before the scripture says after this job lived 140 years and saw four generations then he died an old man having lived a long good life when we think of job we usually think all the pain all the suffering …

… implication? You're not, nor will he support the evildoers. By now you're getting it. You've already seen where I'm going. He will yet fill your mouth with laughter, your lips with shouting. Those who hate you will be clothed with shame. The tent of the wicked will be no more. You'll you'll know a day when you'll pass off this earth and all of life will be wonderfully restored for you. You'll know joy. He missed it by a mile. He certainly didn't get the point of what Job needed. A friend of mine sent me an example of this this week that I think illustrates it. A man asked his wife, if you could have anything in the world for one day, what would you want? And she said, well, I'd love to be six again, she said with a smile. Early the next morning, the morning of her birthday, he got her up and off they went to a local theme park. What a day. He put her on every ride in the park, the death slide, the screaming loop, the wall of fear, everything that was. Five hours later, she staggers out of the theme park. …

… Find a comedian that you enjoy and just embrace some laughter. Job 821 says that God will once again fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy. Job is going through all he's going through and he still declares that God is able to fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy. then Psalm 126 verse 2 says we were filled with laughter and we sang for joy and the other nations said what amazing things the Lord has done for us that is after they came out of Babylonian captivity they were so glad of what they had come through that the Bible says in Psalm 126 verse 2 that the the children of Israel were filled with laughter and they sang for joy and they laughed so much and they sang so loud and so joyfully that the other nations looked at them and said what amazing things the lord has done for them does anybody know how good god has been to you based off of how often you laugh and smile do i need to ask that again a little slower can people tell god's been good to you by your disposition by your countenance by your face does joy show up on your face is joy in your smile is it in your cheeks is it coming through your pores are you happy do you laugh do you have some sense of humor about yourself and the bible says when god has …
