Well, Jesus, you better know what you're doing. Oh, believe me, I know what I'm doing. Can any good thing come out of Galilee? Can any good thing come out of Bainbridge? You see how so upside-down evangelicalism has had it for almost 50 years in this country? And it is a complete, total, moribund failure. It is the attempt to take on the world by letting the world know that, contrary to all perceptions, we really are the brightest, most powerful, attractive, politically strong group of people that has ever dawned on the face of the earth. And when you realize just how wonderful we all are, you will want just to get on our side of the equation. How's it working? Well, because it's not the Jesus way. If that had been Jesus' way, then when Paul preached to the Corinthians, he would have said, I'm so glad to be dealing only with intellectuals here at Corinth. … who he is. When I was in my 30s, I did a series called Savage Jesus. I guess I'm getting soft in my old age. Now I'm preaching about seeking Jesus. Now, when we say seeking Jesus, as you find John chapter 1, verse 43 through 51 in your Bible, understand that when we say seeking Jesus, we're seeking someone, not something. Here's the difference. The other day, Holly lost her ring, and I could see she was getting frustrated. I said, move aside. The professional is on the job. I paid for it. I guarantee you I'll find it. I'll stick my hand through your nostril to find it if I have to. The ring was expensive. I said, I bet you I'll find it in three seconds. It wasn't three seconds, but it was only about two minutes. I was seeking her ring. I found her ring. I handed her a ring, and we were done. Because when you're seeking a thing and you find it, you're done. …

Don't Hold Your Breath - Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts
Sarah Jakes Roberts, 2025-07-27 · Scripture reading

… discovered him. And Nathaniel cannot believe it primarily because he comes from a place that no one would have suspected. He came from Lagos, Nigeria. Can anything good come out of Lagos? He came from the south side of Chicago. Can anything good come out of Nazareth at this time? No one believed that anything good could come out of Oak Cliff. He came out of South Dallas. He says, Nathaniel says, can anything good come out of Nazareth? And Philip says, well, You come and see. See for yourself what God is doing from unsuspecting places. And my text begins, it says, Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit. And then Nathanael has a question. He says, Nathanael said to him, How do you know me? And Jesus answered and said to him, before Philip called you when you were under the fig tree, before you knew who I was, before anyone told you that I had been manifested, before anyone came and got you, I saw you under the fig tree. …
