The Living Door │ Msg 7/14
Chuck Swindoll, 2026-07-07 · Scripture reading

… And so with great care, Jesus interpreted his own allegory, beginning at verse 7. He said to them again, truly, truly, that often is an announcement of a discourse. Truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. So to begin with, the shepherd of verses 1 through 6 is the Lord Jesus. He says, I am the door. All who came before me are thieves and robbers. That answers to verse 1. These would be the pseudo-Messiahs. Edersheim tells us in his fine work on the Lord Jesus earthly ministry that there were, in the time of Jesus, several claiming to be Messiah. They are thieves and they are robbers and they come in another way. They do not come in through the door. They are not to be followed. As a matter of fact, the sheep don't hear them. Verse 9, I am the door. If anyone enters through me, notice the access through Jesus, he shall be saved and shall go in and out and find pasture. …

04/26/26 The Next...: The Next Road
Mike Schmitz, 2026-04-25 · Scripture reading

So you probably know this. We know that this is for UMD, for CSS. This is the last week of classes. One more week of classes. And then I just think about this. Like think about the road that brought you here. Like the road that brought you to this moment, the road that brought you to this season, or even like, you know, we're in the fourth Sunday of Easter. Three weeks ago, some of many of you, 55 people in this community became Catholic. and the road that brought you to the Catholic Church, or if that was the past, like just to think about the fact that wherever you're right now, there was some road that led you to this moment. Whether you're in school, out of school, it doesn't matter. Whether you've always been Catholic or just it's kind of a new thing for you. There was this road that brought you here. And this is one of those things that always happens. Whenever we're like, okay, this is the road that brought me here, there's a new question that comes up. …

The Life-Giving Shepherd (John 10:1-11)
John MacArthur, 2022-12-25 · Scripture reading

… were which He had been saying to them. So Jesus said to them again, "'Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who come before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door. If anyone enters through Me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I come that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep." This is a very vivid picture that our Lord paints. He tells us in verse 6 that it's a figure of speech. In other words, He's giving us a physical, temporal, earthly illustration of a spiritual reality. And it features the idea of a shepherd, a shepherd who comes to take his sheep out of a fold and set them loose in the pasture. This is a picture of the work of our Lord in gathering His own elect redeemed people. …

life for the sheep. You see in that same chapter in verse 7, John 10 verse 7, Jesus said, I am the door of the sheep. You say, is He the shepherd or is He the door? The answer is yes. The shepherd becomes the door. And what Jesus is saying, there's nobody can get to you except He come through me. You like that? Brother, I like that. You see folks, listen, what you need in order to deal with this stress is number one, He maketh me. He leadeth me. I may be weak like a sheep, but He's the strong shepherd. He's the good shepherd. That's the first thing I see in this verse is security. And that security helps me to deal with stress. I'll tell you what else I see. Not only do I see security, but I see sufficiency. You see, look at it. He maketh me to lie down in brown, withered pastures. Is that it? He leads me beside muddy streams, dried up water brooks. …

… shepherd. You see the hireling flees. The good shepherd that same chapter in verse 7, John 10 verse 7, Jesus said, I am the door of the sheep. You say, is He the shepherd or is He the door? The answer is yes. The shepherd becomes the door. I've seen these sheepfolds. The shepherd will build an enclosure out of stones about so high, just a big circle or square. He brings all the sheep inside. That's the sheepfold. He counts them all and makes certain that they are all secure. And then the shepherd has an opening about that wide where the sheep come in and out. And when he gets all the sheep in and all the sheep are counted, the shepherd will lie down right across that opening. Nobody gets in and nobody gets out without him knowing. The shepherd is the door. I am the door. And what Jesus is saying is, nobody can get to you except He come through me. You like that? Brother I like that. That's the reason he said, my sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me and I give unto them eternal life and they shall never perish. You see folks, listen, what you need in order to deal with this stress is number one, security. He maketh me. He leadeth me. I may be weak like a sheep, but he's the strong shepherd. He's the good shepherd. That's the first thing I see in this verse is Security. And that security helps me to deal with stress. I'll …
