Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I say to you, I do not speak on My own. Instead, it is the Father dwelling in Me, performing His works.Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I tell you, I speak not from myself; but the Father who lives in me does his works.Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I say unto you I speak not from myself: but the Father abiding in me doeth his works.

… Now the principle is in verse 10. Do you not believe that I am in the Father? And do you not believe the Father is in me? Why, the words that I say to you, I don't speak on my own initiative, but the Father abiding in me does his works. Ah, there it is. Principle number three. The sovereign hand of God is at work in your life. Do you have a troubled heart? Mark at least underline in verse 10, The Father abiding in me does his works. What a tremendous thought. Jesus, God in the flesh, said, when I speak, it's the Father who's speaking through me. When I do a deed, the Father is doing a deed through me. So the Lord says to us, the same thing, the Father abiding in you is doing his works. I have a good friend, I call every once in a while and ask him how he's doing. He said, well, sovereignty of God. God's at work. He's taking charge. …
… Jesus said to him, And then I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the works that I do and will do greater ones than these because I am going to the Father. The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. Wait till you have a seat. As I mentioned at the beginning of Mass, this is the season of goodbyes. And it's so strange. I don't know if you think about it much, but like it seems, I don't know if it seems like this to you, but it seems like it was only the season of hellos not too long ago. That some of the people maybe you're sitting next to are people that not too long ago you had no idea who they were. And now here you are sitting next to these people. Maybe you actually just met them today, but that's fine. But there's this thing of like, you know, there were greetings and there's goodbyes. And I think sometimes, obviously, we know the greetings. …
… How can you say, show us the father? Don't you believe that I am in the father and the father is in me? The words I speak to you, I do not speak on my own. The father who lives in me does his works. Believe me that I am in the father and the father is in me. Otherwise believe because of the works themselves. This line is one of the lines that struck me most in studying this text. When he says to Philip, who said something pretty spiritually elite, right? Like this is Moses' prayer on the second time. This is what he says, God, show me the Father. Wouldn't that be enough? You'd expect Jesus to be like, ah, at last, a good disciple. But he doesn't do that. He actually gives him one of the most severe rebukes. He says, after all this time, you still don't know me. And that struck me, because I don't wanna get to the end of my life and stand before the Lord and have him say, after all this time around me, you still don't know me? …
… And how sayest thou then, show us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself, but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me, or else believe me for the very works sake. Jesus said in this 14th chapter that one day, the time being unknown to man, that he would return for his body, the bride, his church, of which you and I are a part. The first message in this series, we talked about what the church is. That is that the church is the bride of Christ. And as He pictures His return, and you understand the whole idea of the wedding ceremony and how it took place in those days, then you can understand why Jesus would picture His coming back for His church as the bridegroom coming for His bride. …
