… And he will be in you. I will not leave you orphans. I will come to you. So Jesus is saying to the disciples. Look guys I'm going to leave. I'm going to be crucified. I'll rise from the dead and then I'll ascend from heaven, but you will not be alone. I'm sending you a helper. It's from the Greek word parakletos. And it means one called alongside to help. I'm gonna send you an advocate. I'm gonna send you another of the same kind, or as another translation puts it, another friend for you. And who is that other friend? It's the Holy Spirit. But yet, the Holy Spirit is so misunderstood. misrepresent it. It seems like whenever something weird is happening, people blame it on the Holy Spirit. And it's just not fair. We need to understand who the Holy Spirit is and what it is He wants to do in our lives. In fact, when writing about spiritual gifts, the apostle Paul said, Brothers, I would not have you ignorant. And on the day of Pentecost, when the Spirit was poured out on the early church. People watching this happen said, what does this all mean? A few years ago I had the privilege of going and visiting the ranch of Ronald Reagan. So he built this place out in the hills of Santa Barbara. And it's a simple little house. Tranquil Words for Troubled Hearts │ Msg 13/14
Chuck Swindoll, 2026-07-07 · Scripture reading

… to get you ready. Now, he said to his men, now you know where I'm going. Thomas said, no, we don't. That's verse five. We don't know the way. We don't know where you're going and how can we know the way? Thomas didn't know. He was honest Thomas. He wasn't doubting. He was honest. He said, we don't know where you're going. He honestly didn't know. So the Lord said to him that historic statement, I'm the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father but through me. Christianity has often been criticized because it is bigoted and narrow and rigid. No, it's just as Jesus said it. If a human being on earth wants to go to the Father in heaven, he's got to go one way through Jesus Christ. Without him, there is no going. Without the life, there is no living. Without the truth, there's no knowing. It must be through Jesus Christ. If you're planning on heaven as your eternal abode, there's one way to get there, and that's through the cross, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Well, this created another question in Philip's mind. …

Mike Schmitz, 2026-05-09 · Scripture reading

… Glory to you, O Lord. I will come to you. In a little while, the world will no longer see me, but you will see me, because I live and you will live. On that day, you will realize that I am in the Father and you are in me and I in you. Whoever has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. And whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him. The Gospel of the Lord. let you have a seat so um we just had our last week of finals last weekend last week and i was just thinking i was you know in those in those times i sometimes reflect on man why did i choose to go to school where i went to school like they just got done a lot of our graduates just graduated now they're off wherever um and i think wow i i chose to go to the school i went to for a very particular reason. So I've mentioned many, many times that in high school I had a conversion. I had an encounter with Jesus in confession that just really changed my life. And that kind of set my life on this track of just wanting to learn more about who God is. And at one point, I heard today's second reading. And I was like, that's what I need. So what does St. Peter say? …

Show the Word

… for He lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans. I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day, you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me. Therefore, I am in you. This is the picture. Jesus is giving us everything He has. All that He had, He poured out on the disciples. All that He has, He pours out on us, even through His very Spirit, His presence living inside of us. And this is huge. It's exactly why Jesus said to His disciples, look back up, same chapter, verse 12. Look at this verse. I tell you the truth, 14, 12, anyone who has faith in me, who trusts in me, will do what I've been doing. He will actually do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father, and I will do whatever you ask in my name, so the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. …
