… And Jesus said to him, best news ever. I am the way, the truth, and the life. no one comes to the father except through me and father we receive your word into our hearts Lord, would you allow the soil of our hearts to be soft to your word today? We don't want it to just land on top. We don't want it to even just land an inch below. We want it to go deep into the soil of our hearts, that it would do exactly what you want it to do in us, for us, through us, for your glory. And Lord, we thank you for the hope that we have in heaven. Thank you that because of Jesus, and when we believe in Jesus as the way, the truth and the life, that we will, when we die, be with you. Thank you for that, Lord. And would you speak to us today? We need you, Lord, in Jesus' name, amen. Amen. Well, Jesus here is just about to go to the cross. He's with his disciples here in the upper room at the last supper. He just washed his disciples' feet, which already the disciples are like so awkward and uncomfortable and weirded out because that's not what a person who sits at the table is supposed to do. That's what a servant in those days was supposed to come and wash your feet. …
… I'm just repeating His. Jesus said, I am the way and the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father but through me. his plan. If I told you any other plan, it's a wrong plan. It's not a feel-good plan, it's a get-with-it plan. Since life is short and these days are terminal, it's a good idea that you're not planned to step into death unprepared. You've had enough whirlwinds and storms to know that God means business. You're not going to have many more chances. This is your moment. Take advantage of this opportunity. Lord, I'm lost. I'm a sinner. You know it. I know it. My family knows it. My friends know it. That means you and I can't walk together because you're pure and holy and I'm sinful and unholy. And so I surrender my will to yours. I take Christ as my own savior. I trust him alone by faith alone because of your grace alone today, right now. And the Lord God will accept you into his family and begin for you a life that will be full of, ah, you can't believe the surprises. He will change you in so many areas, you'll hardly be the same person in a matter of time. So today, come, connect with us, write us, call us. …
… if you wish to know a God this size. Jesus alone said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through me. He's the only road to take to God. It's one way, His way. We worship you, our great and mighty God, this day. the one who transcends time and space the one beyond our comprehension full of a grace that is not in us a goodness we have never known in ourselves mercy and love that knows no limit almighty magnificent victorious sovereign holy just in a day of many voices all of them loud much noise enormous confusion and chaos bring us often to the simple truth that you love us and your plan is best and your motive is right and it is for your glory and therefore for our good. Deliver us from every pursuit of our own selfish happiness, a desire to please what we want and to find our satisfaction in you, great God. Whom have we, Lord, but thee, soul thirst to satisfy, Exhaustless spring, the water's free All other streams are dry And so we worship you, our God We have done so with our songs We have done so in the reading of the word We have done so in our giving We have now done so in our silence before you Minister and continue ministering even when we're away from each other, but not at all away from you. …
… your interpretation of the Bible. That's your interpretation. And of course, you can always come back and say, well, fine, suggest to me some other logical interpretation of Jesus' words. I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father but by me. If he didn't mean he's the only way to God, what was he saying in that verse? And most people will stutter and stammer, and they won't come up with an explanation. But more likely, people will say to you, when you claim Christ is the only way to be saved, they'll come back with, well, who are you to decide who gets to go to heaven and who gets to go to hell? Only God can decide who goes to heaven and who goes to hell. Now, when people say that to you, you say, you're absolutely right. I couldn't agree with you more. only God can say who's going to heaven and who's going to hell but God has already made that decision and it's found in his word it's very important that we point out we are not concocting our own way to be saved we are simply repeating what God has already saved and we do so not to hurt people but in order to help people a Franklin Graham has written a loyal follower of Jesus does not create personal ideas about these matters. …
… The only way he could secure our freedom was by his own death. And that's why he said in John 14, verse 6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father except by me. If there is any other way to have paid our debt, if there is any other way to have secured our freedom, then the death of Jesus was totally unnecessary. But there was no other way. That's the reason he came. You know, the way to understand John 14, 6, I am the way, the truth, and the life, is to put it into context. Turn over to John 14, and let's see how this verse fits in to what Jesus is saying about the exclusivity of salvation. Remember, Jesus was preparing his disciples for his death, his resurrection, and his ascension back into heaven. And in verse 2, Jesus said, In my Father's house are many dwelling places. If it were not so, I would have told you. For I go to prepare a place for you. And if I prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself that where I am, there you may be also. …
… The only way Jesus could pay our sin debt, the only way he could secure our freedom was by his own death. And that's why he said in John 14 verse 6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father except by me. If there is any other way to have paid our debt, if there is any other way to have secured our freedom, then the death of Jesus was totally unnecessary, but there was no other way. That's the reason he came. Our subject today and again tomorrow is The Intolerant Christ. I commend you for listening today. This message, I realize, is unpopular in our times. People tend to bristle when they hear the exclusive claims of the gospel. But remember, these claims come from Jesus himself. And at Pathway to Victory, we will never retreat from telling people the absolute truth. You see, there's no valor in embellishing the gospel to make it more attractive. The gospel, in its purest form, is the only message we declare. …
… It is through the one who said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father except through me. Well, nothing has changed from the beginning of time. Just as Cain wanted to please God on his own terms, people are doing the very same thing today. They want to believe that any noble attempt at goodness qualifies as a legitimate effort to satisfy our holy God. As we close today, I want to invite you into my new book, Seven Lessons from My 70 Years. Let me give you just a taste. The very first lesson is this, keep the main thing, the main thing. Look, it's all too easy to get distracted these days, but I can tell you, the main thing isn't complicated at all. It's all about the gospel. Everything else in this life is secondary to the gospel of Jesus Christ. That's the kind of honest lesson you'll find inside my book, Seven Lessons from My 70 Years. It's yours when you support Pathway to Victory with a special 30th anniversary gift. …
… Welcome to Pathway to Victory with author and pastor, Dr. Robert Jeffress. You know, Jesus clearly stated, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Yet Christians are being typecast as hateful and intolerant for teaching the exclusive claims of Christ. Today on Pathway to Victory, Dr. Robert Jeffress presents a message from his series, Not All Roads Lead to Heaven. But first, let's take a moment to hear some important ministry updates. Thanks, David, and welcome again to Pathway to Victory. This year marks a milestone I don't take for granted. Did you realize that Pathway to Victory is celebrating 30 years of ministry? You may ask, why is this such a big deal? Well, it means that for three decades, through five presidential administrations, September 11th, a global pandemic and more, this broadcast has never gone silent. And the message has never changed. When the world keeps shifting under your feet, there's something steadying about a voice you can count on to open the Bible and tell you the truth. …
… Every person needs it. Look what the Bible says in John 14, six says, Jesus told him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. What he's saying is you can do good things without God, but you can't do God's will without God. I'm going to say that again because that was good. You can do good things without God, but you can't do God's will without God. and a lot of people we we we mesh them together like man look how many how much meals they raise for the homeless and look look look at how they're impacting that community and look at how they're doing you can do good things without god people are doing good things all the time but i promise you they're not doing god's specific will for their life because if he's out of the equation he cannot be the center of what's happening and so what i'm telling everybody in this place is that for you to complete the circle of purpose in your life, you need an active, everybody say active Sundays to Sundays is not an active relationship with God. …
… I read them earlier, but I didn't finish them. I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one, no one comes to the Father but through me. So you want love, you want truth, you want life. It comes from the Father, but only does it come through the Son. To have God is to have the Son. To have the Son is to have the one who took on our nature, who lived a perfect life, who died for our sins, who rose in victory over sin, death, and the devil. He is the one who mediates our relationship with God. If we don't abide in his teachings, John says, we do not have God. But if we hold to Christ, we have both the Father and the Son. The great deceiver, Satan, his allies, and those that would deceive through his lies, They know where to go. They know where to strike. They know how to turn down the music for the Christian. They know how to starve the feasting, stamp out the joy, turn sick the healthy, poison the root, target the true source of our life. …
… we don't know where you're going. He honestly didn't know. So the Lord said to him that historic statement, I'm the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father but through me. Christianity has often been criticized because it is bigoted and narrow and rigid. No, it's just as Jesus said it. If a human being on earth wants to go to the Father in heaven, he's got to go one way through Jesus Christ. Without him, there is no going. Without the life, there is no living. Without the truth, there's no knowing. It must be through Jesus Christ. If you're planning on heaven as your eternal abode, there's one way to get there, and that's through the cross, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Well, this created another question in Philip's mind. Philip heard him speak of the father and he said now how does the father relate to you in all of this that's down in verse eight Lord show us the father and it'll satisfy us Philip is just he is so real I just can't believe him you know he's like we are Lord says I'll provide this for you hey Lord I'll tell you what just give me a little bit of it right now and I'll believe you for a whole lot later on. …
… and death comes, while you're in that state, you are lost forever. But you needn't be. Jesus said, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but through me. I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me, though he may die, die will live and will live forever. Will you quietly bow your head? Very quietly now, I want to offer you an opportunity to be absolutely certain that upon death you have life. Look back for just a moment in your life. try to find the date, just find the time when you said, yes, Lord God, I claim Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, admitting that I'm a sinner lost. Today I thank you for his coming in and his forgiveness. I receive him now. You've never done that, my friend. You're lost. You could not be more lost. you're going to die. The 175,000 of last year will be more this year. Don't delay now. …
… I'm just repeating his. Jesus said, I am the way and the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father but through me. That's his plan. If I told you any other plan, it's a wrong plan. Jesus alone said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through me. He's the only road to take to God. It's one way. His way. we worship you our great and mighty God this day the one who transcends time and space the one beyond our comprehension full of a grace that is not in us, a goodness we have never known in ourselves, mercy and love that knows no limit. … pupil, you're going to learn the life. And then you're going to know the way you're going to know the truth and you're going to know the life. I am the way, the truth, and the life, but I'm going to teach you the way and teach you the truth and teach you the life. And you know want to do that so that you can turn around and teach somebody else who wants to be a pupil the way, the truth, and the life. And at the end of the day, that's what Christianity is. That's the heart of it. So we could do a whole other collection today, go a whole different direction today. But the question is hanging out there, who's discipling you? and then the other one that's hanging out there is who are you discipling and if the answer to both of those questions is I don't really know then we might be missing the essence of the Christian life he said if anyone wants to be my disciple some translations maybe your translation says, if anyone desires to come after me. In other words, I'm going, Jesus is saying, does anybody want to come after me, come behind me, follow me? Not follower like with us. Oh, click. I want to follow you. No, literally, I want to follow you. I got my eyes on you. …
… because we have a savior that says, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the father except by me. We have a group of apostles who penned the Bible who said neither is there salvation in any other for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which you must be saved. There's only one savior of all of them that has actually risen from the dead, which means that we follow him and him alone regardless of whatever Caesar says the rules are, okay? So there you have it. The Antichrist and the false prophet unmasked. So now let's return to chapter 12, where John tells us how we're to overcome them and the dragon behind them. Revelation 12, 11, it's one of the greatest verses in the book of Revelation, maybe in the New Testament. And they overcame him by the blood of the lamb. by the word of their testimony, because they love not their lives to the death. …
… So where do we find this in scripture? John 14, Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. In Acts 4, salvation is found in no one else. for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. In Colossians 1, Christ is before all things and in him all things hold together. Christ is the head of the body, the church, for in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him God was pleased to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, by making peace through the blood of his cross. So Christ is the head of the body, the church. We say together as Presbyterians that Christ is the head of our church. We're not looking to a human vision only. We're looking also to this vision that we get from the love of Christ and from Christ's life and ministry in the world so this is this is sounding pretty clear you know I'm the way the truth and the life no one can get to the Father except through me this these are very clear scriptures but how does Christ alone challenge us what does this image remind us of what's happening in this image up here a concert worship How do you know? …
… How can we know the way? Jesus said to him, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me, you will also know my Father. From now on, you do know him and have seen him. Philip said to him, Master, show us the Father and that will be enough for us. Jesus said to him, And then I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the works that I do and will do greater ones than these because I am going to the Father. The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. Wait till you have a seat. As I mentioned at the beginning of Mass, this is the season of goodbyes. And it's so strange. I don't know if you think about it much, but like it seems, I don't know if it seems like this to you, but it seems like it was only the season of hellos not too long ago. …
… And how can we know the way? We are so grateful for that question from that doubter. Because why? Verse six is our study today on this resurrection day. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through me. Without Thomas saying what he said, we may have never known this aspect. We may have found out later in heaven because this is one of those immutable descriptions of who God is. God is the way, the truth, and the life. Now, let me offend everybody in the crowd right here, right now, from the get-go. When Jesus said, I am the way, and we'll study this, the way, the way, the truth, the life, each of those descriptions and attributes of who he is is preempted by the definite article the. He didn't say that he is a way, a life, a truth. No, no, no, no, no. Jesus Christ himself said that he is the, which means this, everyone, all other attempts to get to the Father in heaven will fail you, says Jesus. …
… said. I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me will never die. He said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except by me. He said, he who hears my word and believes in him that sent me will have everlasting life. He said, because I live, you also will live. Now those are great promises. But then he died. And when a guy makes promises like that but then dies, the people listening to those promises think, yeah, whatever. Those are just promises. But he's gone. He's dead. But once Jesus got up out of that tomb, it means not only those promises, but every other promise he made is possible and true. And you see, that's what's important about the resurrection. If there's no resurrection, then Christianity is stupid. This is ridiculous, getting up and doing what we're doing, if there's no resurrection. That's why Paul said, if we have hope in this life only, we are of all men most miserable. …
Isaiah 43, 11, I am the Lord and besides me there is no Savior. John 14, 6, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me. no other way. In Acts 4, 12, Peter and John standing before the council saying to them, and there is salvation in no one else for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. There are so many wonderful names for our Lord. He is Emmanuel, Prince of Peace, Lamb of God, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham. He is the seed of the woman. He is the lion of the tribe of Judah. and we could go on and on and on tonight. But of all these names, none is sweeter to the heart than Jesus. Why is that? Because that one name contains the whole gospel. All that we need, the Father has given to us in Jesus. God loves us enough to send His Son to save us from our sins. …
… Therefore, anything that is a lie is a direct affront to a holy God. And when he says in John 14, verse 6, that I am the way, the truth, and the life, when Jesus made that statement, he says, I am the truth. I'm not a truth. I'm not a possible truth. He didn't say, I can direct you to the truth. He says, I am the truth. I am the truth. It's not your truth. It's not my version of the truth. It's not our collective version of the truth. It is, so saith the Lord, the truth of God, a holy God, not capable of lying. God hates lying because it's against his nature. It's not neutral for us to simply say, well, I don't want to get involved. You know, it's not my place to tell somebody else how to live. Oh, that's not neutrality. That's negligence. That's not simply being compliant. You're being complicit. We have to engage with the truth of God. It's who he is. …
… He said, I, speaking of himself, he said, I am the way and the truth and the life and nobody, no one of any generation, no one comes to the father, speaking of God, the father, no one comes to the father except through me. Who would say such a thing? Of course, there are many things that Jesus said that when you read them, you're like, who would say such a thing? In fact, it's one of the reasons that his followers eventually abandoned him. It was just too much. It wasn't that what Jesus taught was offensive, it was what he said about himself that was so offensive and ultimately got him crucified. And this is one of those statements and it is on the surface offensive. I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father through me. But the problem is while this statement is usually interpreted as an attempt to exclude people, when you follow Jesus through the gospels, clearly that was not his intent. …
… exclusive on purpose for a purpose. And it was perfect for the reason it was given. But Jesus' new covenant was the way for the rest of us, for the world. And so he continues, I am the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the father except through me or put another way. You could say this in a positive way. And this was his point. Read the gospels. Everybody has access to the father through me. His point and what these guys heard, because this is important, they were gathered for their Passover meal. So they're celebrating this extraordinary event that happened in the history of the Jewish people. So when he said this, this is a, for us, it's like, yeah, duh, we're Christians, we get it. This was a major paradigm shift. This was so disruptive. Essentially, Jesus was saying the old way is no longer the way. The old way was you had to be born a son or perhaps a daughter of Abraham to be part of God's righteous tribe and God's righteous acceptable group. And Jesus is saying, no, that was the old way and it's over. I'm introducing something brand new. …
… And so if you've got your Bible, we're gonna be in John chapter 14, verse six. We're just gonna start by looking at the word of Jesus. What Jesus says in the midst of a conversation that we're gonna get to look at more fully here in a moment is Jesus says, you'll see it on the screen if you don't have your Bible with you. Jesus told him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Jesus describes himself as Pastor Louis mentioned last week not as a way not as a truth or your truth or my truth but as the truth and the life Jesus is saying if you want access to the Father you've got to come through me what Jesus is saying is if you're looking for truth I am truth what Jesus is saying if you're looking for life I am life Jesus is saying I am the right option and I'm the satisfying option. …
… so how can we know the way? And Jesus answered, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him. I want to ask you a question. Have you ever had those moments or those times where someone asks you, how are you doing? How are you? And our natural response is what? I'm fine. I'm good. I'm good. But the truth is this. You're not good. you know that you're not good on the inside, that you're functioning and you're performing, but you're not fine. You're showing up, but something inside of you feels unsettled. You can function, you can turn up to work, you can lead, you can get the kids ready for school, you can put the smile on your face, but somehow you still feel troubled. And what's interesting in John chapter 14 is that Jesus speaks to something that these guys haven't even articulated themselves. …
… Thank you. Is that what you wanted me to say? It was from the heart. John 14, six, one of the most well-known statements of Jesus. I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me. This is a powerful statement. This is a bold statement. This is a weighty statement. It's a statement most of us know. A lot of us can recite. Maybe we've memorized. It's one that we hold on to. I want you to think today about the significance of it. I want you to be able to wrestle with the ramifications of it. I want us to dig into it a little bit because if this is true, then there's a lot of things that should be different about the way that we live our life. I love this statement. I'm grateful that Jesus is the, I believe this statement. He is the way and the truth and the life. You know who else believes this statement? Jesus. He said it because he was clear and convinced about who he was, who he is, and what he came to earth to do. …
… for himself. In the gospels, Jesus makes seven powerful I am statements. And these are the big I am statements of Jesus. And this is what he says about himself. He says, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. You're like, yeah, but he didn't say he was God. Number two statement here, he says, I am the resurrection and the life. This is what Grant preached so powerfully last week. He who believes in me, though he may die, he shall live and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die do you believe this I mean the third one still didn't say he was God I am the good shepherd the good shepherd gives his life for the sheep number four and Jesus spoke to them again saying I am the light of the world He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life. And then we come over to number five. …
… The situation of heaven. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. That is a scary verse. That's the exclusivity of Jesus Christ. Those aren't my words. Those are Christ's words. I'm it. Go back to cell phones, kids. There's only one number. There's only one number to reach you. Is that being, oh man, that's being narrow-minded. That's being intolerant. No, it's just real. It's true. Well, Jesus is saying there's one number. I am the way, I'm the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except by me. I think the first guard gate I ever saw in a neighborhood was when I was in high school. I grew up in the dirty South around, you know, normal people, middle class, lower middle class, went to school in a very, very diverse environment. I had no idea what a Mercedes Benz was. I didn't know what a polo, it was back in the day, it was really big. …
… John chapter 14. Jesus is talking about heaven. He's talking about where he's headed. Thomas asked him, we don't know where you're going, so how can we know the way? And Jesus says, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Over and over again, we see the central purpose of Jesus at the center of his mission was to impart life. And so when you come to John 17, it says eternal life is this. And the emphasis is not on the fact that it's everlasting existence. The point is that you now know the everlasting God. That you walk with the eternal God. It says they might know, know the true God. This word is more than just intellectual knowledge. It's a word that we see all throughout Scripture to describe intimate faith and intimate trust. Even in Genesis chapter 4, just to give you a little picture and Greek translation of the Old Testament, it uses this word to describe how Adam knew his wife Eve and they had a child as a result of knowing each other. …
In verse six, Jesus says something else that's very important. He says, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. That's an important theological stand because some of y'all think that there are many roads to heaven. But according to Jesus, there's not many roads to heaven. There's one way to heaven and Jesus is his name. Jesus is either God and he's everything he said he was and everything he said is true or he's a liar and a fraud. But I am persuaded and I know he's not a fraud. He's not a liar. He tells the truth. And he said the only way you can get to the father is through Jesus. Verse number nine says this. Jesus said to him have I been with you so long and yet you have not known me Philip he who has seen me has seen the father so how can you say show us the father in their discussion Philip asked Jesus show us the father Jesus says I when you see me you see the father in other words if we want to know what what God looks like Jesus says look at me that's what Jesus said check me out Jesus says and and I'm showing you the father if you want to know what the father looks like. Look at verse 12. He says in verse 12, most assuredly I say to you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, the works that I do, he will do also and greater …
… And the gospel is very narrow. Jesus said, "'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by Me." That's narrow. Jesus said, "'I am the light. I am the bread. I am the living water.'" Those are all singular claims. Acts 4.12 says, there's no salvation in any other name than the name of Jesus. Romans 10.17 says, faith comes by hearing the message concerning Jesus. First Corinthians 16.22 says, if you love not the Lord Jesus Christ, you're damned. And 1 Timothy 2.5 says, there's one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus. He's the only gate. You must enter. If you want to be in the kingdom of heaven, you must enter, and you must enter this gate. A third thing to think about is you must enter this gate alone, alone. You leave the world behind. You leave family and friends behind. If you go a few chapters over to chapter 10 of Matthew, Hence In verse 34, Jesus said, Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth. …
… May I tell you what Jesus Christ said? THE LORD JESUS CHRIST SAID IN JOHN CHAPTER 14 VERSE 6, I AM THE WAY. NO MAN COMES UNTO THE FATHER BUT BY ME. HE SAID, I AM THE WAY. JEREMIAH CHAPTER 21 AND VERSE 8 SAYS, BEHOLD, I HAVE SET BEFORE YOU THE WAY OF LIFE AND THE WAY OF DEATH. THAT'S ALL. THAT'S NARROW. NOW I KNOW THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO SAY IT'S NOT NICE TO BE NARROW. I KNOW THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO WANT TO BROADEN THE OLD S AND N, THE OLD STRAIGHT AND NARROW, BUT JESUS DID NOT PREACH THAT WAY. AND SO, LOOK, IF, IF WHAT I HAVE TO SAY TODAY BOTHERS YOU OR IRRITATES YOU, DON'T COME UP AND ARGUE WITH ME ABOUT IT. JUST READ THE BIBLE AND TELL GOD ABOUT IT. JUST SAY, GOD, YOU MADE A MISTAKE WHEN YOU PUT THIS IN THE BIBLE, BUT DON'T TAKE ISSUE WITH ME. YOU OUGHT TO TAKE ISSUE WITH ME IF I DON'T PREACH THE WORD OF GOD. JESUS SAID, STRAIGHT IS THE WAY, Narrow is the gate that leads unto life. Now I know that poem by Markham that he called me a rebel of thing to flout, but he said he, he, he somehow, uh, drew a circle and shut me out. But we drew a bigger circle and took him in. That sounds all wonderful. But let me tell you what the apostle Paul had to say. Here's what the apostle Paul had to say. …
… And he says, And how can we know the way? And Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me. If you had known me, you should have known my Father also. And from henceforth ye know him and have seen him. Philip said to him, Lord, show us the Father, and we'll be satisfied. It sufficeth us. Jesus said unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? He that hath seen me hath seen the Father. And how sayest thou then, show us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself, but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me, or else believe me for the very works sake. Jesus said in this 14th chapter that one day, the time being unknown to man, that he would return for his body, the bride, his church, of which you and I are a part. …
