If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love.If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, even as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.

Yeah. In John 15, verse nine and 10, it says this. Jesus says, just as the father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. And if you obey my commands, you'll remain in my love. Now I've talked to you many, many times about how much God loves you because it is really the basis of your personal security. If you're not convinced that God always loves you, that he loves you unconditionally, completely, instantly, continuously, that he never stops loving you, that you can't make him stop loving you. If you don't really have this foundation of God's unconditional love in your life, you're going to be easy prey for the disapproval of other people. You're going to be a people pleaser. Now, how much does God love you? Well, look there on your outline. First John three, verse one says this, how great, how great is the love of the father, that he's lavished on us, that we should be called the children of God. And that is what we are. So the first key to resilience is to build the baseline that God will never stop loving me. …
… so have I loved you abide in my love that's what he wants but if you read on he says if you keep my commandments you will abide in my love just as I've kept my father's commandments and abide in his love these things I've spoken to you that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be full. This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. so God says, okay, here's what I want from you. I want you to abide in me. And he says, and you will abide in me if you obey my commands. And then he says, and here's my command, that you love one another as I have loved you. So if God had it his way, he says here's my commandment you want to abide in me here's my commandment i want you to love one another just as i've loved you so if we're serious let's let's just say this was a church here i mean i know it's a building of a church but like we because i don't believe a building is a church um read my book Okay, so if we were a church seriously wanting to please him, God says, here's my command. …
Okay. I love this passage. I love it more than I've ever loved it. Just the words that he uses. It feels nothing like do and don't. It's like the natural response. That's why he says, if you love me, you'll obey what I command. So it's just like when I think about if my daughters are taken away, my natural response is to go after them. Why? Because there's love there. And that's what Jesus is saying is our obedience should be like this natural response to his love. He's like, I'm not calling you slaves. I'm calling you friends. But this first phrase when he says, abide in me, remain in me. You know that word abide means to live. And this morning I thought, gosh, what does this mean like abide in you? I know he's talking about the vine and the branches, but I'm not really a vine or a branch. I don't really get that. And this picture just came to me. Oh, my gosh, that's exactly what he's saying. …
