… to the heart of a person. The whole concept of pruning in John 15 verse three says, but you are clean, the word is prune there, you are clean or pruned, disciplined already because of the word I have spoken to you. It's the word into the yielded heart that prunes, that trims, that disciplines. It's not the circumstances, the circumstances just wake us up to listen. I mean, when Jonah was sitting in the belly of a well, he thought there's probably somebody out there who had a better solution than what he was experiencing. He was in a position to listen. And that's what happened. Circumstances wake us up to listen. The life is in the Word. It's in His voice. In Philippians 1, it says, when you and I, I think it's verse 21, when you and I say no to fear, it only reminds the devil he's doomed. that's awesome when you and i resist resist fear this i just picture this scene when you and i resist fear what happens there's this wave of intimidation over the demonic realm and they begin to tremble because they are reminded they have a death sentence that's huge Isaiah deals with the same the same concept so here we have Israel two guys not Israel two guys are courageous they stand up in face of an opposing army and they bring about such an extraordinary victory that the news of their victory spreads we'll find out in a moment into Israel but also into the enemy's camp and the news goes through the enemy's camp it says the …

… Somebody say pruned. John 15 verse 1 and 3 says, I am the real vine and my father is the former. He cuts off every branch of me that doesn't bear grapes and every branch that is great bearing. He prunes back. so it will bear even more you already pruned back you are already pruned back by the message i have spoken literally here jesus is teaching his disciples that there are two times that god will cut he will cut number one to correct fruitlessness or he'll cut number two to create fruitfulness. why am I hurting so bad it might be because God's been checking your limbs for some fruit and sometimes God will cut us off and sometimes God will cut us back when we get cut off it's because it's fruitlessness but when we get cut back it's because he wants some more fruitfulness You know the Bible doesn't tell us why God does a lot that God does But this week get another biopsy right here in John chapter 15 Because literally here we understand why we've been cut sometimes And sometimes we're not cut because we've done anything wrong Sometimes God cuts us back so we're pruned Because if you want more fruit You've got to go through some cutting If you want things to grow healthier sometimes they have to be cut back. …

… Furthermore, once you're converted, you're cleansed by the Word. What did Jesus say in John 15, verse 3? Ye are clean through the Word that I have spoken unto you. There's no way to stay clean in the Christian life apart from the Word of God. But not only are you converted and cleansed, you're controlled by the Word. First Timothy 3, verses 16 and 17, all scriptures given by inspiration of God. And if it is, then what follows? It is profitable for doctrine. That's what's right. For reproof, that tells you when you're wrong. For correction, that helps you to get right. and for instruction in righteousness, that helps you to stay right. You're to be controlled by the Word. And you're to be confirmed to the Word. Excuse me, we're confirmed by the Word. How do we know? How do I know that I'm saved? Because the way I feel? Mm-hmm. What about when I wake up with a dull headache? I ate sauerkraut and ice cream and then went to sleep. …

… First of all, you must admit your problem and get clean. Jesus Christ said in John chapter 15 and verse 3, you are clean. You are clean through the Word which I have spoken unto you. And the word clean there is the word catharsimos, It's still a word that we get catharsis from. Do you know what a catharsis is? A catharsis is a cleansing on the inside. Now Jesus will make you clean on the inside through His Word. You are clean through the Word which I have spoken unto you. Now I want you just to picture today the cleansing tides of Calvary and the fresh breezes of the Holy Spirit just blowing through you and washing over you and making you absolutely clean. I John chapter 1 and verse 9 says this, If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us and to cleanse us from all, not some, but all, all unrighteousness. Every man, woman, boy and girl here today can be absolutely, totally, perfectly clean. …

… bear fruit, He takes away, and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. And as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He He who abides in me and I in him bears much fruit, for without me you can do nothing. And then he goes on from there. But notice in verse 5, he says, I am the vine, you are the branches. And this is slightly different from what he says in the first verse, where there he calls himself not merely the vine, but he said, I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine dresser. So we have two things going on here in this I am statement that is very important. The second one has to do with our productivity as Christians of bearing the fruit that God calls us to bear by virtue of our remaining closely connected to Christ as branches are connected to the vine. …
