I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same beareth much fruit: for apart from me ye can do nothing.

… You gotta stay connected to Jesus every day. In John chapter 15, verse five, Jesus compares this to like a grapevine. And he says this, I am the vine and you are the branches. If you stay connected to me, you'll produce a lot of fruit. But you can't do anything without me. I grew up in Northern California in the wine country. Everybody had vineyards in their backyard. And every season I would harvest grapes and I learned something real quick. If a cluster of grapes happens to be on a branch that's been cut off, it dies. You can tag on, you can tie on grapes to dead branches, but if they've been cut off from the root, cut off from the vine, they're gonna die. And the same thing is true with you. If you try to go through life on your own power, you're gonna be overwhelmed. But if you're connected to the vine, if you're plugged into Jesus, you're gonna have power. I've told you this before. …
… Because Jesus had told them that. John chapter 15, verse 5, apart from me, you can do nothing. Church at Brook Hills, apart from the power of God, we can do nothing. and if we believe that, it will drive us to our knees in prayer. They were utterly dependent on the power of God. Second, they were utterly desperate for God's grace. They were utterly desperate for God's grace. Over and over again in the book of Acts, we see evidence of the grace of God. Now, I know we're doing a lot of turning in the book of Acts. I kind of warned you at the start we were going to do this, but I've got to take you on another tour. But go back to Acts chapter 6, verse 8. Isn't it good to hear the pages turning in Scripture? Act of worship. Look at Acts chapter 6, verse 8. I want you to circle every time you see grace mentioned, because the whole advancement of the church is going to come by grace. …
… producing the fruit of the Spirit and therefore causing the church of the Lord Jesus Christ to progress. Now, when you separate that branch from the vine, he says, apart from me, ye can do nothing. He says, I am the vine, ye are the branches. If a church attempts to carry on its own work, apart from the Lord Jesus Christ, apart from depending upon him, He says you're going to fail. Apart from me, you can do nothing. You can name the name of Jesus Christ, but if you've never been born again, and if you're part of a church where the gospel is not being preached, nobody cares whether you're saved or not. Nobody's uplifting to Jesus Christ. Nobody talks about His blood. Nobody talks about His Lordship. That church can't produce because it is not a part of the vine. There has to be the living life of Jesus Christ permeating, saturating, filling, and overflowing in the life of those people. because you see each time he speaks of the intimacy of our relationship now listen we are the stones of the temple of God we are the branches living in the vine and he intends to produce through you and me his very life so that the church is the life of Christ here on earth functioning and coordinating together in a sense of interdependence with each other in order that Jesus Christ might be glorified right before the ungodly and unbelievers that they can know that Jesus Christ has risen from the dead that he's alive and that he's God. …
… fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. And as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He He who abides in me and I in him bears much fruit, for without me you can do nothing. And then he goes on from there. But notice in verse 5, he says, I am the vine, you are the branches. And this is slightly different from what he says in the first verse, where there he calls himself not merely the vine, but he said, I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine dresser. So we have two things going on here in this I am statement that is very important. The second one has to do with our productivity as Christians of bearing the fruit that God calls us to bear by virtue of our remaining closely connected to Christ as branches are connected to the vine. …
