Sermons on John 15:6

If anyone does not remain in Me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers. Such branches are gathered up, thrown into the fire, and burned. If a man doesn’t remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

If you abide in me and my words abide in you, you will ask what you desire and huckleberry everything. It's going to be done for you. You get one. You get one. You get the Holy Ghost. You get God's call. You get blessed. It's not like a select few are called. You're called. You're called. God's got a plan for you. God knows your name. God sees you. You have inheritance. You have a future. You're not an orphan. You're a part of the family. You're a royal priesthood. You're a chosen generation. Huckleberry, everything. This is what it is to be adopted into the family of God. If Jesus has it, you have it. You have the same standing before God as Jesus Christ. That's the gospel. That's ridiculous. Yeah, this is true. OK, by this, my father, verse 8, is glorified that you bear much fruit. …

But if you abide in me and my words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit, so that you will be my disciples." I often hear among Protestant Christians a disparaging of good works. Since we have fought the battle of Reformation that our salvation is not based upon our works, it's based on the works of Christ and we're saved by faith alone, some take that to mean, so therefore once I'm in Christ it doesn't matter whether I'm productive or not productive. If we study the teaching of Jesus in the New Testament, He is constantly calling His people to bear fruit, to make manifest the faith that they have through their works. …
