I have given them the glory You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one—The glory which you have given me, I have given to them, that they may be one, even as we are one,And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:And the glory which thou hast given me I have given unto them; that they may be one, even as we are one;

… this is what he prays for us. I have given them the glory that you have given me so that they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me so that they may be completely one so that the world may know that you have sent me. and have loved them as you have loved me. That as we love one another with a love that does not make sense to the world, the world looks on and says, wow, there must really be a God that you say is love because the way that you love each other is impossible apart from him. And daily they were added to their number when they saw a love that was embodied, that matched a love that was expressed. This is what was happening in the early church there were two big plagues early on. In 1865 AD and in 250 AD, there were two plagues that most scholars estimate wiped out a quarter of the population of Rome, every plague that was had. …
… and he said, my prayer is that all of them may be one. Why is he praying for unity? So that the world may believe, God, that you have sent me. Jesus says, I've given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one, so that they may be brought together in complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. When you think about this, the night before Jesus is crucified, he prayed that we, you, me, we, the body of Christ would be one. Why? So that the world would believe that the Father sent Jesus. In other words, Jesus tied the credibility of the gospel to the unity of his followers. because when we stand united, the world clearly sees the love of Jesus through his body, which brings us to our message series. We're in a message series called A Church That Pleases God. And what kind of church are we praying that we'll be? …
May they also be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they gave me one as we are one, I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity, to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you loved me. Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. righteous father though the world does not know you i know you and they know that you have sent me i have made you known to them and will continue to make you known in order the love you have for me may be in them and that i myself may be in them here's the climax jesus in his disciples what he has done in their life now reproduced in the lives of others and what i want you to notice is in those verses we read over and over again, you see, well, you see a couple different phrases repeated, but there's one word I want us to focus on, and it's the word world. …
I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that scripture would be fulfilled. Now, disciple-making. We talked last week about how Jesus has given us the people. He has invested people into our lives. We are surrounded by people in our spheres of influence who we have the opportunity to impact for the glory of Christ. He's given us the words. He's given us the authority to share the word with them. Now I want you to see how part of sharing the word with them involves showing the word to them. And I want us to think about people that God has entrusted in our lives to show the word to. And what that means, first of all, I think it means that we display his character to them. I want you to see how this unfolds in this prayer that Jesus is praying. From the very beginning in verse 6, you go back up there and it says, I have revealed you to those whom you gave me. I revealed you to those whom you gave me. Now, some of you in your translations, it might have, I revealed your name to those who you gave me. …

… keep them in your name which you have given me that they may be one even as we are one. Jesus prays and he says, God, I want them to be one just as you and I are one. the glory that you've given me, I've given to them that they may be one even as we are one. I in them, you in me, that they may become perfectly one so that the world may know that you sent me and love them even as you loved me. See, this was Jesus' prayer. He goes, God, I want them to be perfectly one, just like you and I are one. The Father and the Son, that's, I mean, some of these verses are very hard to believe. Do you believe you could be perfectly one? Is that your goal when you gather with the other believers? Because God wants it to be your goal. This is Jesus' dying prayer. God, I'm not asking you to take them out of the world. …
