And when she said this, she turned around, and she saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking? She thinking he was a gardener said to him, sir, if you've carried him away, tell me where you have laid him and I will take him away. And he said, Mary. She turned and said, Rabboni, which is to say teacher. Jesus said, do not cling to me for I've not yet ascended to my father and to my brethren and say to them, I'm ascending to my father and your father to my God and your God. …

… As she wept, she stooped to look into the tomb and she saw two angels in white sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet whoa wait a second we got two angels flanking this scene with linen cloths nicely folded up between them does that sound familiar ever when the priest on the day of atonement would put on linen cloths go into the center of the tabernacle the mercy seat was two angels one on each side of it the priest offers his sacrifice then he'd leave those clothes there and change into something else are you seeing this jesus the complete human the perfect priest has gone into the most holy place he's offered not the blood of another sacrifice he's offered his own blood once and for all sinners he has said it is finished and he has walked out leaving those sacrificial clothes behind neatly folded up forever because there is no need for sacrifice anymore. … Well, I'm glad you asked. Look, a couple of verses later, we read, Mary stood weeping outside the tomb. And as she wept, she stooped to look into the tomb and she saw two angels in white sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet. Get the picture. You got two angels flanking this scene with linen cloths nicely folded up and left between them. Does that sound familiar? Remember when the priest on the day of atonement would put on linen clothes, would go into the center of the tabernacle where the mercy seat was with two angels, one on each side, and the priest would offer the sacrifice, and then he would leave those clothes there, change into something else. Are you seeing this? Jesus, the complete human, the perfect priest, has gone into the most holy place. He has offered not the blood of another sacrifice. He has offered his own blood once, and for all sinners, he has said, it is finished. And he has walked out, leaving those sacrificial clothes behind, neatly folded up forever, because there is no need for sacrifice anymore. He has paid the price for sinners to have their sin totally covered by his blood. …

She said to them, they've taken away my Lord. I don't know where they've laid him. Having said this, she turned around and she saw Jesus standing, but she didn't know it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking? Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, sir, if you've carried him away, tell me where you've laid him and I will take him away. Jesus said to her, Mary. And as soon as he said her name, she realized who he was. And in that moment, she realized, he's not just any old gardener. He's the one who made the garden in Genesis chapter one and two. And he's came to make the garden possible for any who trust in him. so you put it all together put all of this together in light of the headlines around us today we live in a wilderness in this world where we have all wandered away from God and we feel it in the sin and evil and sorrow and pain and confusion and anxiety and fear and futility and frustration that surrounds us. …
