so that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who doesn’t honor the Son doesn’t honor the Father who sent him. That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son honoreth not the Father that sent him.

… For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, that all should honor the son as they honor the father. He who does not honor the son does not honor the father who sent him. You know what this means? It means that what we say, what we believe about who Jesus is, is what judges us. that will be what will judge us on the day of judgment. Jesus goes on to refer to those who do not see. He refers to a group of people that do not see, but are made to see. They don't see, but they are made to see. These people are just like the formerly blind beggar. fully aware of their blindness. but these people are made to see because they're humble enough to come to Christ and be enlightened and be saved. Whereas there is another group of people, those who see, those who see that will be made blind. and these are they that are self-deceived into thinking that they have spiritual sight when in reality they are the blindest of all just like the pharisees and their blindness is not curable because they won't come to christ the only solution the only one who can enlighten them and open their eyes. …
… It actually can be used to mean awe or respect. It's used in John 5.23 of honoring God and honoring Christ. So, this is how you obey, with honor. This means the attitude and the action. And then the apostle Paul says, this is the first commandment with a promise. This is the fifth of the Ten Commandments. But this is the first one with a promise because it's unique, and it's the first one in the human relationship section. The first four commandments have to do with your relationship to God. The last six commandments have to do with your relationship to each other. The first of those human relationship commandments has a promise. And what is the promise? Verse 3, so that it may be well with you and that you may live long on the earth. That's quoted right out of Exodus 20, verse 12, the Ten Commandments. That God wrote in stone on Mount Sinai. It's absolutely essential that children both obey and honor their parents. …
… For not even the Father judges anyone, but He who He has given all judgment to the Son, so that all will honor the Son even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him." This is a terrifying set of claims by our Lord Jesus. He is saying, I'm not subject to your rules on the Sabbath. I align with God. I do what the Father does. Look at verse 17, My Father is working, I am working. And they understood that, verse 18, that He was saying He was equal with God. He was one in nature, one in essence. In fact, He is God, the ultimate blasphemy in the mind of the Jews. Not only was He one with God in nature, but He was one with God in work. Verse 19, Jesus answered and was saying to them, "'Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself unless it is something He sees the Father doing. …
… even so the Son gives life to whom He will. For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. And most assuredly I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. And most assuredly I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man. Let me stop at that point, because given that this is Communion Sunday, I'm going to be hard-pressed to cover even this number of verses in our meditation today. But what we have heard, I pray that you have ears to hear. Let us pray. …
