But I have testimony more substantial than that of John. For the works that the Father has given Me to accomplish—the very works I am doing—testify about Me that the Father has sent Me.But the testimony which I have is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father gave me to accomplish, the very works that I do, testify about me, that the Father has sent me.But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.But the witness which I have is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father hath given me to accomplish, the very works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

… miraculous signs, gee, who could that be? All of his miracles were to point to that. In John chapter five. He said, the works which the Father has given me to finish, the very works that I do, bear witness of me that the Father has sent me. in John chapter 10, he said to them, if I do not do the works of my father, do not believe me. But if I do, though you do not believe me, believe the works that you may know and believe that the father is in me and that I am in the father. So back to the Nazarenes, the unbelievers of Nazareth. Unbelievers will admit that Jesus was a very powerful person. Yeah, he did miracles. But they won't give a rational explanation how a mere human could do those miracles. Even the Babylonian Talmud, you've heard me refer to the Talmud before. Let me just tell you what that is. The Talmud is a massive multi-volume set of literature of how the Jews through history applied scripture. It's filled with debates, legal rulings, stories, commentary, and the Talmud, the rabbinical records will not deny that Jesus indeed did amazing things. But they have an explanation of who he was. I'll get to that in a minute, but they just said, yep, he did amazing things. He did a lot of miracles. …
… So I'm at verse 36 in John 5. The testimony that I have is greater than that of John, John the Baptist. For the works that the Father has given me to accomplish, the very works that I am doing, bear witness about me that the Father has sent me. And the Father who sent me has himself borne witness about me." First description coming now. First description of their spiritual condition. His voice, the Father's voice, His voice you have never heard. His form you have never seen and you do not have his word abiding in you. Whose word? God's word. You don't have God's word abiding in you as you read the books of Moses, as you read your Bible, you don't have God's word abiding in you and you don't have Jesus words abiding in you. Continue. For you do not believe the one whom he has sent. So the evidence that you don't have the word of God abiding in you is that you don't believe me. …
… I'm teasing it. I have a greater witness than John's for the works which the Father has given me to finish. The very works that I do bear witness of me that the Father has sent me. Okay, now just think. The works that I do bear witness of me. What works? the word works is mentioned I think 21 times in the gospel of John it's always good to study a subject in the context of that particular writing and or that writer so in the gospel of John the word works is in there I think it's 21 times if I remember right 17 of those times it's without question miracle signs and wonders one of those times you may remember it says and greater works than these shall you do because I go to the Father. So what he is saying here is the works, the miracles, the signs, and the wonders, they testify of who I am. now keep your finger in John 5 I don't know if I should keep apologizing all night maybe I won't maybe I'll just make you run through the gospels keep your finger in John 5 and turn to John 10 John 10 verse 37. …
… This morning we're in the fifth chapter of that gospel, beginning at verse 31, reading through verse 47. John chapter 5, verses 31 through 47. If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true. There is another who bears witness of me, and I know that the witness which he witnesses of me is true. You have sent to John, and he has borne witness to the truth. But I do not receive testimony from man, but I say these things that you may be saved. He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing for a time to rejoice in His light. But I have a greater witness than John's, for the works which the Father has given me to finish, the very works that I do bear witness of Me that the Father has sent Me. And the Father Himself who sent Me has testified of Me. And you have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. But you do not have His Word abiding in you, because whom He sent, him you do not believe. …
