… remembrances of things that you did, and current struggles with things that you still do. The Bible says in John chapter 8, verse 1, that Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. And at dawn, he appeared again in the temple courts where all the people gathered around him. He sat down to teach them. So get the picture. It is as it should be. Jesus, the Savior, is at the center, and everyone is gathered around him, and he taught them. Verse 3, the teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery. So while the crowds are being taught, this woman is caught, and she is brought before Jesus, the one who taught the crowds. Now, they brought the woman who was caught in adultery, and they do something that religion always does. See, when the passage started, Jesus was at the center, but when they got involved, sin was at the center. So, they say, look at her sin, Jesus. We caught her. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the law… They're quoting Scripture. This must be God. In the law… They're talking about the Bible. …

As he was speaking, the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in the act of adultery. They put her in front of the crowd. Teacher, they said to Jesus, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say? They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger. They kept demanding an answer. So he stood up again and said, All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone. …
… in your Bible, and I'll explain that, God willing, in a few moments. Chapter 8, verse 1, Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. Now early in the morning He came again to the temple, and all the people came to Him, and He sat down and taught them. And then the scribes and the Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, they said to Him, Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do you say? this they said, testing him, that they might have something of which to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with his finger as though he did not hear. And so when they continued asking him, he raised himself up and said to them, He is without sin among you. Let him throw a stone at her first. And again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. …
