You are doing the works of your father.” “We are not illegitimate children,” they declared. “Our only Father is God Himself.”You do the works of your father.” They said to him, “We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father, God.”Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.Ye do the works of your father. John chapter 8, when there's a confrontation between our Lord and the leaders, they say to him, we were not born of fornication. We have one father, even God. And Jesus comes and says, actually, you are of your father, the devil. It was a very heated conversation. So Mark says Jesus is the son of God. the people in Nazareth say, he's just the son of Mary, a handyman in town. Now back to the Talmud. I mentioned the Talmud that recognized that Jesus did miracles. According to the Talmud, the Jewish Talmud, Jesus Christ was the illegitimate son of Mary. The illegitimate son of Mary, whom they fancy to be a hairdresser in Nazareth. and not only the son of Mary but the son of Mary threw a Roman soldier that she slept with named Panthera so they call him in the Talmud Yeshua ben Panthera Jesus the son of Panthera a Roman soldier that had an affair with Mary and furthermore they say he could do miracles because he learned the magical arts while he was down in Egypt this is unbelief unbelief usually due to personal bias will reduce the majesty and wonder of Jesus Christ they will diminish his actual person and this is the position of secular humanists this is the position of skeptics that some will say if he even existed that all the rest of this stuff is a myth. …
… Either I surrender or I fight. Now, that's the way we find Jesus in this crowd that surrounded him in John chapter 8, verses 12 to 59. He is not around a crowd that had never heard of God. I want to make that clear. He is in a context of religion. As a matter of fact, one of the three great festivals of the year is where he was at the time he spoke the words of John 8, the Feast of Tabernacles. Remember the other time that he brought a sword? He said, Are any of you thirsty? Come to me and drink. They were pouring out the water from that sacred vessel on that sacred altar, and he said, Wait a minute! Let me tell you where real water is. It's in me, and you come to me, you'll never thirst again. Oh, that was a sword. And it started an argument that still hasn't ceased. Now, he comes to this place called the treasury, according to verse 20 of chapter 8. …
… 1 John 4, 7. Love is of God, and everyone who loves is born of God. And we're talking about true biblical love. Now, look at John chapter 8, verse 41. John 8, verse 41. Because here, the Pharisees, they really slam Jesus. They say, we were not born of fornication. We have one father. They're saying their father is God. They're saying, because we're Jews, we're born of the seed of Abraham, then we have one God. And they're slamming Jesus by saying, we weren't born in fornication. They're saying, obviously your mom fooled around on Joseph, and that's how you came here. You understand? Yeah. It's pretty bad. Now listen to what Jesus says to them. This is, imagine you're one of the disciples standing there or just someone standing by listening. You might at this time be like, wow, look at the time. I think I've got to go. Jesus says, if God were your father, you would love me. For I proceeded forth and came from God. …
… Abraham did not do this. you do the deeds of your father. And they said, we were not born of fornication. We have one father, God. And Jesus said to them, if God were your father, you would love me, for I proceedeth forth and came from God. Nor have I come of myself, but he sent me. Why do you not understand my speech, because you're not able to listen to my word. You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. And when he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. But because I tell you the truth, you do not believe me. Which of you convicts me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? He who is of God hears God's words. …
