Then Jonah left the city and sat down east of it, where he made himself a shelter and sat in its shade to see what would happen to the city. Then Jonah went out of the city and sat on the east side of the city, and there made himself a booth and sat under it in the shade, until he might see what would become of the city.So Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him a booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would become of the city. Then Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him a booth, and sat under it in the shade, till he might see what would become of the city.

… Jonah? Like, come on. No, God asked him one simple question. Then God did something so beautiful. Jonah chapter four, verses five through six said, Jonah had gone out and sat down at a place east the city. There he made himself a shelter, sat in its shade and waited to see what would happen into the city. Then the Lord God provided a leafy plant and made it grow up over Jonah to give shade for his head to ease his discomfort. And Jonah was very happy about the plant. So God met Jonah's physical and emotional need before he met his spiritual need. … what God asked him. The Lord said, verse 4, is it right for you to be angry? So Jonah, verse 5, went out of the city and sat on the east side of the city. There he made himself a shelter and sat under it in the shade till he might see what would become of the city. Get the picture. God, the people repent. The people and the king repent. We see that in chapter 3. They repent. They stop doing the lifestyle and they turn to God. And that's in chapter 3. They listen to the message of Jonah and they turn their lives around. and then Jonah still, even though the people responded to his message and repented, he went outside of the city and sat on the hill and made himself a shelter and still waited. Here's what that means. He still hoped. that God would do something to the city. Now, y'all looking at me like, y'all don't know what I'm talking about, but somebody, some of y'all are sitting around waiting for God to show judgment to people. …
… without the heart of God? And the story continues, Jonah chapter four, verse five, that tells us this. Jonah had gone out and sat down at a place. Where did he sit down? Say it out loud. He sat down east of the city. Those of you online, you might just type that in the comment section. He sat down east of the city. There he made himself a shelter and sat in its shade and waited to see what would happen in the city. So he preached and then he got out of town and he went east of the city. It's interesting that this very specific direction is in the Bible. One more time, which direction did he go? He went east of the city. This is important because in the Bible, anyone who travels east, This is often a picture or represents moving toward exile or moving toward bondage. Many times in the scripture, when someone travels east, they're moving away from God's will into exile or bondage. …
