Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house. Test Me in this,” says the LORD of Hosts. “See if I will not open the windows of heaven and pour out for you blessing without measure.Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house, and test me now in this,” says Yahweh of Armies, “if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there will not be enough room for.Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.Bring ye the whole tithe into the store-house, that there may be food in my house, and prove me now herewith, saith Jehovah of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

… When they double dog dare you, you got to do it. He's saying, I double dog dare you to do it my way, says the Lord of hosts. See if I will not open up the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing you don't have room enough to receive. There will not be room enough to receive it. Why would God give you so much that you wouldn't have room enough to receive it so you could give it away? Like that's what like God wants to bless you to the point where it's obnoxious to keep it. And then you get to understand what it means to be blessed to be a blessing. Then he says, he says, and I'll rebuke the devourer for who's sake? It ain't for his sake. It ain't for the kingdom's sake. The streets of gold did not run out of gold. Like there's not. He said, I'm doing this for your sake. He says so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field. …
… He was speaking to Israel. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse that there may be food in my house. Notice that. Bring what I've blessed you with into the management of my house, my storehouse. Why? So it might be a blessing to others. And try me. This is the only thing that God ever says about take me on and see if this is true. God says, try me now in this, says the Lord of hosts. If I will not open you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. Why does God say this in his word? You put me first, I will bless your life because you're blessing others. You can't put me first and not be a blessing to others. You can't put God first and not respond to the opportunity to get people to join the Indonesian gathering of nations for evangelism. You can't put God first and not build hospitals in various parts of Africa or areas in the Middle East. …
… It's an act of worship. Malachi 3.10. Bring to my storehouse a full tenth. Now, by the way, what's a storehouse? It's the temple. He says, bring to the temple where you worship me. Bring to my storehouse a full tenth of what you earn. Test me in this, says the Lord, and I will open the windows of heaven for you and pour out all the blessings you need. He says, I dare you. This is a Pepsi challenge test. Test me in this. He said, you bring it to me as an act of worship. Now, when do I do it? Well, you do it on the day you worship. First Corinthians 16 says this. on the first day of every week, that's the day we worship, Sunday, put aside some of what you've earned during the week and use it for the offering. The amount depends on how much the Lord has helped you earn. As I said, if I make 10 bucks, I give God a return, a dollar. …
… young old black white whoever you are when we when we do not do it god's way we rob him of the opportunity to bless us look at verse 10 it says so bring all the tithes into the storehouse that always talks about the local church so if this is not your church wherever you go to church you bring the tithes into the storehouse so that there may be food in my house and try me now in this see i love this because god knows what resource he has and you don't and so he says i bet you if you do it see won't i do it y'all know how you know something and and you know something they don't know and it's like God saying I double dog dare you to trust me with 10% and if you do it my way see won't I open the windows of heaven and just clown you no no no I'm gonna clown you I'm gonna have you looking like a clown when it's all said and done people gonna say how did that happen and you're gonna just be able to I don't even I don't I mean it was just and and he's like gotcha but that's what god is asking us to do he says he says prove me test me in this and i don't know about you but i like testing people you know what i'm saying and this is the only place that god tells us we are allowed to test him it says if see if i won't open up the windows of heaven pour …
… This is a promise repeated throughout scripture. We saw it in Malachi 3.10, test me in this God's, test me, put me first, give me the first 10% of what I give to you. Test me and see if I won't make you overflow of blessing. It's what we call God math here. God math is that 90% of God's blessing goes further than 100% without it. God says literally test me in this. You don't think it's true? Test me and see if I won't multiply your provision when you put me first. Y'all appreciate what Pastor Brian said last week. If he had a list of short explanations why he believed in God, God's faithfulness to that promise would be in that list, how God multiplied and blessed him when he put God first in his giving. I've heard that from so many people in so many ways, I would invite you today to test him. I'm not saying it all happens immediately. I'm just saying that this is what God promises and you will find that he is true. …
… I call it the Pepsi challenge verse look at this verse, Malachi 3.10 it says bring your full tithe to my storehouse so there will be food in my house, he's talking about where you worship. Test me in this. He says, I dare you. I dare you. Test me in this, says the Lord. And see if I won't open up for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it, read the word with me, overflows. That's the overflowing life. He says, I dare you. Put me first in your time. See if I don't bless your time. Put me first in your relationship. See if I don't bless that. Put me first in your money. See if I don't bless that. Whatever you want God to bless, you put him first in. You trust Jesus. You say, well, I trust him to get me to heaven. Do you trust him for anything else? How much? We'll close with this verse here on the screen. …
… to make sure you're not robbing God? Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse so that there may be food in my house. And test me now in this, says the Lord of hosts. It's one of the few times we're ever told to test God in the Bible. But God says, you can test me in this. If you'll bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, test me and see if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows. That's the positive promise. But notice there's a negative promise here too in verse 11. Then I will rebuke the devourer for you so that it may not destroy the fruits of the ground, nor will your vine in the field cast its grapes, says the Lord of hosts. The positive promise is this. God said, Israelites, if you will give 10% of what you have to me, I will bless the 90% above anything you can imagine. …
… verses 6 through 12 is what I'm going to deal with today Malachi chapter 3 verses 6 through 12 now I'm going to go down and talk about these things now let me give you a little bit of background about Malachi Malachi is the last prophet mentioned in the Old Testament it's the last book of the Old Testament and God says some things through him that is going to be the last thing that God says to Israel before there is a break for 400 years. God's going to stop talking, but this is what he says to them. Chapter 3, some things that he says to them before heaven is going to close down and be quiet. And I thought I ought to talk about this because he spends time talking about money. Now, I notice when the pastors start talking about money, people get tight. I saw some of y'all grab y'all purses and put it, held it tight. We're not taking up another offering disservice. …
… We looked at that last week and we'll look at it again, Malachi chapter three, verse 10, powerful verse that says, bring the whole tithe into the storehouse. What is the tithe? Remember, it's the Hebrew word, ma'aser. We bring the whole 10% back into the storehouse, back to the local church. We bring the whole tithe into the storehouse. Why? So there may be food in my house. And God says, test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be enough room to store it. What is the tithe? Remember, it's maoster. It's 10%. Technically, if we're being really technical, because Amy is really technical and she calls me on everything, technically tithing is not giving. It's just not stealing. Okay, I'll say it this way. Just, I'll be sweeter about it. Tithing is technically not giving. it's returning. It's giving back to God what belongs to God. And it's actually, it's not spontaneous. It's not like I feel moved. It's strategic. It's that Lord, my God is my God. …
… or in the tabernacle. Bring the full tithe into the storehouse so that there may be food in my house. and thus put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts. I love this. He says, put me to the test. Usually we are not to test God, but in this case, God says, test me on this and see if it's true. See if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflowing blessing. One of the reasons why I actually like preaching on tithing, a lot of my friends who are pastors are like, man, I never want to preach on that. I hate to do it. I don't want anybody to think, you know, that all we care about is their money. I hope you know that's not true for us at Resurrection. But I love preaching on this because I found it to be true in my life. I found these words to actually function this way in my life, that the blessings of God have come. …
… see your hand yeah just I did it yesterday just open up those windows and God says that when we give, or specifically when we tithe, God says he'll open up the windows of heaven and pour out more blessing than you can handle. Let me just go back to our theme verse, Malachi 3 verse 10 says, bring the whole tithe into the storehouse that there may be comida in mikasa. test me in this says the Lord Almighty and see if I will not throw open the windows of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be enough room for you to store it where the Trader Joe's lovers at in the house anybody love Trader Joe's yeah yeah man I love going to Trader Joe's because I only got four aisles Let's do this. we go through Trader Joe's my boys man we throw in stuff in that cart spin drifts and chips and when we get to our house our cupboards cannot hold the kettle popcorn that the kids have bought and I just love this idea that God's saying when you tithe I'll pour out more blessing than you have enough room for what the Bible's trying to teach you is you will not just be blessed to have enough for you, you will have enough that will pour out. You can bless others. …
… principle of a tithe here and there are truths that are revealed about God and his relationship with his people, Malachi 3.10, other texts like that, yes, that there's an Old Testament principle, so to speak, that we honor in a sense, but I would say only to the extent that if it would be helpful for the tithe to be a starting point, a starting point at best, but grace giving is so radically different than a tithe. And tithe undercuts, undercuts the picture that 2 Corinthians 8 and 9 is painting here. Paul says, I am not commanding you to give. Old Testament tithe is not your standard of giving anymore. What's your standard of giving, New Testament church. Look at verse 9. For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you, through his poverty, might become rich. This leads us, we give out of an abundance of grace, willingly, generously, cheerfully, not because we're forced to give, because we're free to give, and we want to give all that we can. That's the New Testament picture. It leads us to we give as a demonstration of the gospel. Our standard of giving is not the Old Testament tithe. Our standard of giving is the Son of God on a cross. And we look at giving in light of the cross, in light of the gospel, and giving is a demonstration of the gospel. Paul goes from talking about these Macedonian …
… He says, you are under curse, your whole nation, because you are robbing me. Verse 10, bring the whole tithe into the storehouse that there may be food in my house. Anybody, where the food lovers at? Any food lovers? Yeah, hallelujah. Praise the Lord. Faith and food. Come on, somebody. And just for my guys today, faith, food, football. Let's go. That there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty. see if I will not throw open the windows or the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. I will prevent pests from devouring your crops and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it's ripe, says the Lord Almighty. Then all them other nations will call you blessed for yours will be a delightful land, says the Lord almighty. Write down the title of today's message is called banking on it. Banking on it. And my prayer for our church is that you could bank on the promises of God. …
… verse 10 bring all the tithes into the storehouse that there might be food in my house and then he says in verse 10 and try me now in this the promise is God says here's my sub point I didn't even hear is prove me proof God says put me to the test try me try me now says the Lord of hosts if I will not open for you the windows notice it doesn't say window it says windows see if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it we serve a God that's saying test me and see if I won't do for you to where you are blessed in such a way that it's beyond what you dreamed or imagined That's right. That's right. Can I get an amen right there from anybody? God says, prove me. Put me to the test. Let me prove myself to you. …
… in tithes and offerings? You're cursed with a curse. You've robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse that there may be food in my house. And try me now in this, says the Lord of hosts. If I will not open for you the windows of heaven, pour out for you such a blessing, there will not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field, says the Lord of hosts. I love this portion of scripture. There are many who I believe have made a huge mistake in assuming that because this verse is in the Old Testament, that the tithe is from the law. The tithe was actually instituted 400 years before Moses. And interestingly, it was instituted through a man named Abraham, who is called the father of faith. The entire fourth chapter of Romans gives honor to this father of faith. …
… in tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And try me now in this, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such a blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devour for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of the ground, nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field, says the Lord of hosts. All right? Luke 16. I'm going to try to tie these two together, so make sure you see this in your own Bibles. Luke 16, verse 10. He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much. And he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much. Therefore, if you've not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust true riches? If you've not been faithful in what is another man's, who will give you what is your own? He then goes on to talk about not serving God and mammon. …
… Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the Lord of hosts. But she said, Wherein shall we return? And then God asked this question, Will a man rob God? But ye have robbed me. But ye say, wherein have we robbed thee? God answers, in tithes and offerings. And then God says, you're cursed with a curse, for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. And then God makes a commandment and a promise. Listen to it. Here's the commandment. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me herewith, prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, and here's the promise, if I will not open you the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground, and neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time and the field, saith the Lord of hosts. …
