… yet. When you've been called to it, God will open up doors of opportunity for you to do it. This is Jeremiah, and I'm sorry, Nehemiah chapter two, verses one through six. Here's what it says. And it came to pass, verse one, one through six, and it came to pass in the month of Nisan, on the 20th year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was before him, that I took the wine and gave it to the king. Now I had never been sad in his presence before. Therefore the king said to me, why is your face sad since you are not sick? This is nothing but sorrow of heart. So I became dreadfully afraid and said to the king, may the king live forever. Why should my face not be sad when the city the place of my father's tombs lies waste and its gates are burned with fire. Then the king said to me, what do you request? So I prayed to the God of heaven and I said to the king, if it pleases the king and if your servant has found favor in your sight, I ask that you send me to Judah, to the city of my father's tombs that I may rebuild it. Then the king said to me, the queen also sitting beside him, how long will your journey be and when will you return? Here's the key words. So it pleased the king to send me and I set him a tie. The king gave him an opportunity to take leave …
… Nehemiah chapter two, let's begin in verse one. in the month of Nisan, which comes right after Toyota and just before Chevrolet. Just kidding, okay? That's actually nice saying. That's how you say that. It's similar to our march. In the 20th year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was before him, I took up wine and I gave it to the king. Now I had never been sad in his presence. And so the king said to me, Nehemiah, why is your face sad? Seeing you are not sick, this is nothing but sadness of the heart. If you were a servant in those days who served in the presence of the king, Whatever was going on in your personal life could not affect your performance before the king. He didn't want to be bothered by your menial personal problems. Nehemiah had served the king for years. And in all those years, I'm sure he had been sad at different points, but he had never let stuff in his personal life affect his mood before the king. …
… count. Now, when was the command to restore and build Jerusalem? Well, that command was given in the book of Nehemiah chapter two and verse one. Now notice what he says here, if you will, in this verse, I know therefore and understand that from the going forth, the command to restore and build Jerusalem unto Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks. That's 49 years. It took 49 years to restore and to build Jerusalem. It happened just as God said it would. God gave the ability through Artaxerxes, and God used Nehemiah to do it. And in these 49 years, it was done exactly. And it was, this first section now is completed. But now that's the commencement of the count. Now let's look at the continuation of the count in verse 25. And he says, unto Messiah the prince shall be seven weeks and threescore and two weeks. Now he's saying, I'm going to expand the prophecy just a little bit. You have 49 weeks, add to that 49, 434 weeks and put all of these together. …
… Now, when was the command to restore and build Jerusalem? Well, that command was given in the book of Nehemiah, chapter 2 and verse 1. And here's what the Bible describes. And, of course, Daniel was familiar with this. And it came to pass in the month of Nisan, in the 20th year of Artaxerxes the king, that wine was before him, and I took up the wine, that is, Nehemiah did, and gave it unto the king. Now I had not been before time sad in his presence. And I said unto the king, if it pleased the king, and if thy servant hath found favor in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my father's sepulchres, that I may build it. Nehemiah says, King Artaxerxes, please, don't be angry with me. If I look sad, it's only because I'm heartbroken for my city. The walls are in ruins. The city is in disgrace. Please give me what it takes to go back and restore and rebuild Jerusalem. …
