Sermons on Philippians 1:20

I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have complete boldness so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will in no way be disappointed, but with all boldness, as always, now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.according to my earnest expectation and hope, that in nothing shall I be put to shame, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether by life, or by death.

… trusting God gives you hope, it gives you courage, and it gives you happiness. Look at the next verse there in Philippians chapter one, verse 20. It is my eager expectation, that's faith, and hope, that's hope, it's my eager expectation and hope that I will not be ashamed. Remember, he's in prison as he's writing this, but that with full courage, now as always, Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death. He goes, I don't know the end of my story. I don't know if I'm going to get out of this prison and be a free man again, or if they're going to feed me to the lions, or I'm going to be set in with gladiators, or to be hung or crucified? He said, I don't know whether by life or death, I am trusting God. I love this verse, Hebrews 10, 35, there on your outline. It says this in the living Bible, do not let your happy trust in the Lord die away. Do not let your happy trust in the Lord die away. Don't let it fall away. No matter what happens, he says, remember your reward. …

… But instead, in that dark, dank prison, Paul wrote the most positive book in the Bible, Philippians. Now, in Philippians chapter one, verses 12 to 30, Paul, who is writing from prison, models four principles for being happy no matter what happens in your life. This is a very practical message. I hope you'll take notes on this. I want you to see the four choices that Paul made so you can make these same choices too. Again, you're as happy as you choose to be. All right. So here are the four principles, the four choices. First, I can be happy no matter what happens in my life if I choose to, write this down, remember God can bring good out of anything. That's the first choice. I choose to remember that God can bring good out of anything. Now, Romans 8, 28, that famous verse of scripture in the Bible says this, we know, not we guess, we know that in all that happens, all that happens, that's the good, the bad, and the ugly, we know that in all that happens, God works for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose. …

… since I was a child, pretty much. And it says, Philippians 1.20, that according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. and these words were my words in my heart that helped me follow the path with Jesus wherever he sent me and I remember one of those critical moments and these were many in my life believe me but these were moments that God showed himself in a most powerful, magnificent way and miraculous ways as well. And as Apostle Paul says, I would have loved to share them with you but they were countless. And I remember once in my second imprisonment, I had a group of inmates that actually became Christians. These hardcore criminals became Christians. And the prison warden decided that now they need to punish me for that and they will transfer me. And they would send me to a prison where they do forcefully all types of medical experiments on you. …

Look Forward Not Far
Steven Furtick, 2025-02-03

Right now, it's time for the Word of God. Let's go. The book of Philippians chapter 1, verse 20 through 26. No, no, no. Let's go all the way back to verse 18. I was going to speed it up for time, but I want to read from verse 18, so I'm going to read from verse 18. Then the Lord gave me this scripture, and then he gave me a picture, and I want to give both of you today. But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this, I rejoice. Yeah, and I will continue to rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and God's provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, What has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance. Verse 20 says, I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now, as always, Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I don't know. I'm torn between the two. I'm trying to make a decision. I don't know which to choose. I'm torn between the two. I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far, but it's more necessary for you that I remain in …

Learning to Live with Frustrations - Part 2
Charles Stanley · Scripture reading

… Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, And in this I rejoice, yes, and I will rejoice, for I know that this shall turn out for my deliverance through your prayers and the provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I shall not be put to shame in everything, but that with all boldness Christ shall even now as always be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. So, he says in this 21st verse, he says, for me to live is Christ to live. For me to die is for my gain. And then if you'll notice in the second chapter and the eighth verse, which is one of the most important passages in the whole Bible on the life of Christ in this second chapter. He says, and I believe Paul would have said it this way. I believe he said, here's what I'm learning. and that is in verse 5 have this mind in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus who although he existed in the form of God did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped but emptied of himself taken the form of a bondservant and being made in the likeness of men and being found in appearance as a man he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death even the death of the cross now here's what he was saying Paul said, I'm learning how to be a servant. …
