… but just the attitude of trying to be grateful in your mind. Philippians 2.14 says this in the Bible. In everything you do, stay away from complaining and arguing. Hmm, because that's the exact opposite of gratitude. Let me ask you, what do you complain about? No, don't tell me. Second thought, don't tell me. Let me ask you this. When you complain about something, how does that help you? Does that work out pretty good? You complain about the weather, does it change the weather? You complain about the way you look, does that change the way you look? You complain about your spouse, or your children, or your job, or anything. Complaining is a total waste of time. It's doing without doing. It's worthless. You should stop complaining and start being grateful. Stop grumbling, stop griping, and start being grateful. Because you're not gonna feel better from complaining. Colossians 2.7 says this. Let your lives overflow, there's that word, with thanksgiving for all God has done. I suggest that you start your day with gratitude for God, what God has done for you, and for others. …

… They want something out of the Bible. Give them Philippians 2.14. everything without grumbling. or arguing. Now, I want something out the Bible. I don't want to do something in the Bible, because I want God to open the grave. God is like, before we start dealing with graves, can we deal with grumbling? Because your grumbling is the grave for every good thing I'm trying to do in your life. You bury it in your complaining. You want to do something out the Bible? I want you to do something in the Bible. Next verse. Let's keep it going. James wanted you to know this is in the Bible. He didn't know this was going in the Bible when he wrote it. He was just writing out of faithfulness, and now it's in the Bible. James chapter 4 verse 11 says, Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. That's in the Bible. That's in the Bible. I can't figure out why y'all aren't shouting over that. Because when I was saying stuff out the Bible, It made us feel excited. …

… or unalloyed metals that were not tainted with other materials. Harmlessness here really is the idea of living a life of purity from the filth of this world. Philippians 2 verses 14-15 give us a great picture of this. Philippians 2 says, do all things without complaining and disputing. Why? that you may become blameless and harmless, pure, children of God, without fault in the midst of, notice, a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in this world. You see, the world is crooked and perverse. You and I are to be harmless and blameless, all for the purpose of actually being light in the world. See, you can get so far down the practical wisdom that you forfeit purity. and we want to have this balance so that we might be seen as children of God. It's a mark of a believer, it's purity. Blameless means faultless or free from guilt and that's a synonym. These things go hand in hand, blamelessness and harmless. You see, while to some degree the world can have an appearance of wisdom, Jesus even said it, that that wicked servant who lied and deceived and was cunningly crafty. He was shrewd. Appearance of wisdom. But you see, this harmlessness of a dove is something altogether unique to the believer. The world cannot become harmless as a dove. …

… As a matter of fact, God gives us a command. Philippians 2 verse 14, and here's what it says, do all things without murmuring. That's a command. Clear, plain, and straight. Now, you're going to have problems, and problems need to be addressed. never, however, with murmuring. Now, you put people and progress together and you're going to have problems. You ought to try to pastor a church like Bellevue. You know, you folks are all so different. You've got different ideas, different tastes. There are all kinds of tastes and differences and ideas. Why? Because God made us so different. A church is a mosaic of different people. And we have different ideas. and no one's always right and no one is always wrong. Now, what about this problem? I say that the problem was a legitimate problem, but the method they went about dealing with it was very devilish. It was of the devil. The problem was not doctrinal. It was functional. The problem was not primary. The problem was petty. …
